In a disturbing development, a 54-year-old self-proclaimed religious preacher, identified as Victor Kamaraj, has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting over ten female students near Sengunram in Tamil Nadu's Thiruvallur district. The arrest comes amidst a troubling increase in sexual assault incidents reported in the region.
Kamaraj, who operated a church from his home, reportedly took advantage of a tuition program run by his wife, an Anganwadi centre employee. It was during these evening classes for schoolgirls that the alleged assaults occurred. Parents of the victims filed a complaint, prompting a police investigation.
Sources indicate that a crucial piece of evidence emerged from Kamaraj's cell phone, which reportedly contained information confirming the sexual harassment of the students. Following this discovery, police swiftly arrested Kamaraj under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. He was subsequently produced in court and is currently lodged in Puzhal jail.
This arrest is the latest in a series of alarming incidents of sexual assault in the Thiruvallur area. Just recently, an Assamese youth was apprehended in a separate case involving the kidnapping and sexual assault of a girl in a neighbouring village.
Adding to these concerns, another harrowing incident unfolded mere days later in the Kanakamma Chathiram area, where expansion work for the Chennai-Tirupathi National Highway is underway. A 17-year-old girl walking by was allegedly abducted and subjected to an attempted rape by a young man, reportedly working on the highway project. Her screams alerted local villagers, who bravely intervened. The assailant attempted to flee but was chased down, apprehended by the villagers, and then handed over to the police.

Two killed, three injured as car plunges into rivulet in Chhattisgarh

Pahalgam attack: Agencies identify terrorists' handler in Pakistan, trace their route from Baisaran to Dachigam
Following the 'Operation Mahadev' last week, Indian security agencies have identified the handler of three terrorists as Pakistan-based Sajid Saifullah Jatt of Lashkar-e-Taiba. On July 28, the Indian Army said it killed three terrorists in the Dachigam area of Jammu and Kashmir's Srinagar. Those were later said to be involved in attack in J&K's Pahalgam's Baisaran meadow in which they killed 26 people. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD The CNN-News 18 has reported that Indian agencies have now identified Sajid Saifullah Jatt, the south Kashmir operations chief of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), as the key handler based in Lahore, Pakistan. The report said that the agencies have also confirmed the terrorists' link to Pakistan and LeT through funeral prayers of those killed in Pakistan Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (POJK), which were coordinated by Rizwan Anees of LeT. The agencies believe that the evidence leaves no doubt that the three persons killed in Dachigam, who they have identified as Suleman Shah (alias Faizal Jatt), Abu Hamza (alias 'Afghan"), and Yasir (alias 'Jibran") were Pakistani nationals and part of the LeT. How agencies confirmed link to Pakistan The evidence found from three terrorists in Dachigam contains voter ID cards and a NADRA card, which are the Pakistani equivalent of Aadhaar card, according to CNN-News 18. The agencies have found that these cards have been tied to electoral rolls in Lahore and Gujranwala, confirming the Pakistani identities of those killed in Dachigam, according to the report. The agencies have flagged the presence of Pakistan-made chocolate as further proof of Pakistani roots of terrorists. As for the route they took, the agencies have assessed that they crossed into India near Gurez and were later sheltered in a seasonal hut near Pahalgam by two Kashmiri men —Parvaiz and Bashir Ahmad Jothar— who later confessed to aiding them, the report said. GPS data from a Garmin device recovered from one of them and call logs from a Huawei satellite phone established their movements and linkages to operational control in Pakistan, the report said.

Veteran South Korean actor Song Young-Kyu has been found dead just days after he was embroiled in a driving under the influence (DUI) controversy that had begun affecting his career. He was 55 years old. According to media reports, Song was discovered unconscious inside a parked vehicle at a townhouse complex in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, around 8:00 AM on Sunday. The Yongin Eastern Police Station has launched an investigation into the circumstances of his death. Authorities were reportedly alerted by an acquaintance who found him in the vehicle. A source quoted by Koreaboo said, 'He was distressed by the malicious articles and comments, and the circumstances were extremely unfavorable at that time." Just over a week before his death, Song had been booked without detention for driving under the influence. The incident occurred on June 19 in Yongin, after Song had reportedly consumed alcohol with acquaintances and attempted to drive home. His blood alcohol content was said to be over 0.08 per cent, leading to the revocation of his driver's license. The incident came to light after a local resident reported it to the police. Song chose not to issue a public statement about the matter. The backlash was swift. Song was removed from the stage play Shakespeare In Love following the incident. In South Korea, where public figures are held to high standards, such infractions often have serious professional consequences.
