Ozzy Osbourne's funeral is taking place on Wednesday, July 30, in Birmingham. Thousands of have flooded the streets of Birmingham to pay their final respects to the rock legend as his body is brought back to his home city.The Black Sabbath frontman's hearse will travel down Broad Street – with family members following in cars behind – from 1pm ahead of his private funeral. The cortege, along with the Osbourne family, is expected to stop at the Black Sabbath bench, where thousands of tributes, balloons and flowers have been left since the heavy metal icon died last week.Eight days after his death, Ozzy Osbourne will make his final journey through his home city of Birmingham as fans, friends and family say goodbye. The Black Sabbath singer's body will be taken in a hearse through the city on Wednesday, ahead of his private funeral.

The hearse carrying Osbourne will make its way down Broad Street to the Black Sabbath bench and bridge from around 1pm on Wednesday. Crowds of people, many wearing Ozzy Osbourne T-shirts and holding posters and other tributes, are already waiting behind metal barriers all along Broad Street.This afternoon the iconic superstar who helped birth the heavy metal genre will return to his hometown one final time as his funeral cortege travels along Broad Street. Broad Street is the location of the Black Sabbath Bench and Bridge, where fans have been leaving flowers, memorial cards and personal tributes to the late singer over the past week.

Ozzy Osbourne died on July 22 almost three weeks after he performed at Black Sabbath's farewell gig, Back to the Beginning. It was a four-song solo set, followed by a five-song set alongside fellow original Black Sabbath members Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward - at Birmingham's Villa Park.Osbourne co-founded Black Sabbath in 1968 and made eight albums with the Godfathers of Metal before being dismissed in 1979, due to what was perceived by his bandmates to be excessive substance abuse.

With invaluable encouragement and assistance from his manager/wife Sharon, Osbourne then launched a hugely successful solo career, beginning with 1980's Blizzard Of Ozz album.The singer rejoined Black Sabbath from 1997 to 2006, and once more from 2011 until the band's initial retirement in 2017. He led the group's final studio album, 13, released in 2013 — his first full-length project with them in 35 years. His most recent solo effort, Patient Number 9, came out in 2022.Today, music legends like Elton John, Metallica frontman James Hetfield, and breakout artist Yungblud (Dominic Harrison) are expected to gather to bid a final farewell to the most iconic figure in heavy metal history.
