ITV Coronation Street fans rumble 'fake death' as they say one character will make shock return

Daily Record5 days ago
Coronation Street viewers are convinced that one character who is meant to have been dead for years will soon make a shock return to Weatherfield.
Coronation Street may soon be seeing one character return from the dead with fans claiming to have spotted some solid clues in the ITV soap. The character in question was thought to have been killed off screen years before but viewers only learned of their existence in the past year or so.

Becky Swain was the mother of teen Betsy Swain, and the wife of detective Lisa Swain. Lisa has opened up about the loss of her spouse in the line of duty a couple of times and was also recently forced to face her sad past when she spoke about it in therapy.

Becky's alleged death was revisited more than once in recent times with newcomers Matty and Logan Radcliffe's link to the death being revealed earlier this year. Details about what caused Becky's death and rumours of her being corrupt ahead of her murder, have kept the plot and the mystery surrounding her demise going.

Fans who picked up on the constant mentions of her and the desire to know what really happened have now suggested there's more to be revealed when it comes to Becky's story, the Mirror reports.
Amid some fresh spoilers that tease a twist about Lisa's new partner Carla Connor, fans are wondering if a huge bombshell will be dropped in the soap soon.

While fans are waiting in anticipation to find out if Becky is actually dead while others are calling for the speculation that she is still alive to end, others can't shake the idea that she may be in hiding.
The theory has been doing the round following new episodes and twists with fans now once again convinced that Becky will soon head to Weatherfield very much alive.

Taking to social media one fan suggested: "What if Carla really does do a deep dive and finds out Becky is not only bent but also alive? What if those scenes at the park are her having to break the news to Lisa alongside the Private investigator?"
Another fan echoed: "Feels like a juggernaut coming down the line but I could be wrong. Is Becky - deceased wife of DC Swain and mother of Betsy - not dead?
"My very much of a guess is - she was undercover as a bent copper, big scary criminals, faked death to save her family, witness protection, yadda yadda yadda and suddenly TA-DA!!!

"It's all the endless references and musings about a character we've never met. Feels like something's afoot. Also a handy nemesis for Carla? That's always a good thing."
A third agreed with the theories, saying: "I agree that the endless references about someone who we have never met is suspicious!"
Another torn fan then posted: "The only reason I think she has to be dead is surely a post mortem was carried out given the circumstances and surely Lisa had to identify her or saw her in her coffin."

Someone else, who did not seem as impressed by the rumoured storyline, wrote: "Typical soap, if they don't die on screen, they're not actually dead."
The theory kept on being shared, with somebody adding: "Yeah, I don't recall exactly what it was, but before the footy break a Swarla convo made me say Becky isn't dead."
Yet another viewer chimed in: "Wouldn't surprise me if Becky's still alive."

Game of Thrones star joins 'promising' new historical BBC drama opposite James Norton

The BBC has unveiled a sneak peek at the forthcoming historical drama King and Conqueror, set to broadcast next month. The series, formerly known as 1066, will see the pair battle for the throne alongside their respective wives. ‌ The teaser features James Norton in the role of Harold, Earl of Wessex, while Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, known for Game of Thrones, plays William, Duke of Normandy. ‌ The drama will depict the duo's struggle for the throne, alongside their respective wives, Edith Swan-neck (Emily Beecham) and Matilda (Clémence Poésy). ‌ The trailer also introduces allies and foes such as King Edward (Eddie Marsan), Lady Emma (Juliet Stevenson), Morcar (Elander Moore), Gytha (Clare Holman), Tostig (Luther Ford), Queen Gunhild (Bo Bragason) and Godwin (Geoff Bell). King and Conqueror tells the tale of a conflict that shaped the destiny of a nation – and a continent – for a millennium, with roots reaching back decades and extending through two intertwined family dynasties, vying for power across two countries and a turbulent sea, reports the Mirror. ‌ Harold of Wessex and William of Normandy were two men fated to clash at the Battle of Hastings in 1066; two allies with no initial ambition for the English throne, who found themselves compelled by circumstance and personal obsession into a war for its crown. The programme consists of eight hour-long episodes and will also feature Jean-Marc Barr as King Henry, Elliott Cowan as Sweyn, Bjarne Henriksen as Earl Siward, Oliver Masucci as Baldwin, Indy Lewis as Margaret, Jason Forbes as Thane Thomas, Ingvar Sigurdsson as Fitzosbern, Ines Asserson as Judith, Sveinn Ólafur Gunnarsson as Hardrada and Léo Legrand as Odo. ‌ Fresh promotional artwork for the drama presents a monochrome portrait of Harold with a resolute expression whilst William looms behind him, ready for combat. BBC audiences were swift to react to the programme's preview, with one commenting: "I hope they include the part where William had Harold buried on the beach, to guard the English shore.'I always found that quite touching, like a mark of his respect for such a great warrior." Another contributed: "The story of William the Conqueror; updated for a modern audience," whilst a third wrote: "Bout damn time they dropped this trailer. They been talking about this show for a year and a half." Someone else remarked: "Hopefully, this show will fulfill how I missed Vikings," as another contributed: "First i have heard of this but it seems really promising."

Jack P Shepherd and Hanni Treweek tie the knot as first snaps emerge from lavish wedding

The Corrie star and his new wife have been pictured together for the first time on their wedding day. Telly favourite Jack P Shepherd and Hanni Treweek have officially tied the knot. The Coronation Street star and his new wife were married at Manchester Cathedral today. The first photos from their special day have now emerged. As can be seen in our sister title The Mirror, the couple were all smiles in the pictures from the moments after they said 'I do'. The soap star, best known for his role as David Platt, looked dapper in a suit as he stood next to Hanni. The 37-year-old was seen wearing an off-white suit jacket over a black waistcoat and white shirt, completed with black trousers and a bow tie. Hanni, 36, looked stunning in a long white dress with a full skirt and an impressively long train. Her gown featured a lace, off-the-shoulder top with long sleeves, adding to her elegant bridal look. She finished off her outfit with a lengthy veil, held in place by a tiara. The newlyweds shared a romantic kiss on the steps of Manchester Cathedral, while their delighted guests showered them with confetti. Jack proposed to Hanni last year during a romantic safari trip in Tanzania. The pair had been colleagues on the popular soap before their relationship blossomed. The soap actor previously revealed that his participation in Celebrity Big Brother earlier this year was to help fund their extravagant wedding day, although he didn't anticipate winning the ITV reality show. In the run-up to their big day, the couple offered sneak peeks into their planning process, which they've been undertaking with the help of events company Taylor Lynn Corporation. Hanni shared highlights from the planning process on Instagram, including a photo of the day she said yes to the dress, as well as when she chose the wine for their wedding. She revealed charming details, such as how she and Jack "built our guest list in this cosy little cabin". As she celebrated the four-week countdown to her wedding in the post, she said: "Here's to four weeks of making special memories, feeling excited, nervous, overwhelmed, emotional, in love and everything else that comes with being a bride". Groom Jack responded with: "It's gonna be EPIC!". Meanwhile, Jack previously provided a glimpse into their wedding plans when asked on Good Morning Britain if he planned to invite his Celebrity Big Brother housemates to his big day. Jack admitted: "I don't think so. I've only known them three weeks and have a guest list a mile long." Jack and Hanni first met when his now-bride appeared on Coronation Street – she later worked on the soap as a storyline writer. However, sparks didn't fly until they reunited at a friend's wedding sometime later. Jack previously reminisced: "We got chatting, I made Hanni laugh, we had a couple of drinks and we flirted. That was it." The duo started seeing each other later that year after a chance encounter at a supermarket. Jack humorously commented on the awkwardness of their meeting, while Hanni was worried about her looks. However, Jack was completely taken with her, admitting: "I actually thought she looked fit I just saw the girl I fancy wearing lycra! We quickly went on our first date and we just clicked." Jack P. Shepherd marries Hanni Treweek in 'no expense spared' Manchester wedding

Coronation Street favourite Jack P. Shepherd is officially a married man after tying the knot with fiancée Hanni Treweek in a lavish ceremony today. The David Platt actor, who has starred in the ITV soap since 2000, has been dating Hanni since 2017, having met the scriptwriter while she worked on Corrie. On June 5 last year, while on safari, he popped the question, and it's been all systems go for wedding prep ever since, with the lovebirds keeping their fans updated on dress fittings, cake tastings, and pre-parties galore while counting down the days. And this weekend, it all came to a head, as soap co-stars packed out Manchester Cathedral to celebrate their nuptials. Jack, 37, arrived at the venue with his mum and young son, Reuben, whom he shares with ex Lauren Shippey. Looking dapper in a cream tux, Jack added a stylish edge with a pair of shades. Pulling up in the coolest possible way, he sat backseat in a red Mustang car, beaming with excitement. Meanwhile, bride Hanni, 35, was seen arriving at the iconic Gothic venue with her flock of bridesmaids, who aided in carrying her extravagant train. She opted for an elegant lace gown, complete with intricate floral detailing and long sleeves. With a veil over her face, she wore natural yet glowing makeup, styled her raven locks in loose waves, and clutched a bouquet. In attendance were a whole host of familiar faces, including Craig Tinker actor Colson Smith and Ben Price, who plays Nick Tilsley. The close pals, who also co-host a podcast with Jack, arrived smiling from ear to ear, wearing matching suits and with flowers on their lapels to complement Hanni's arrangement. Other guests included Bethany Platt actress Lucy Fallon, who donned a very on-trend pastel yellow frock, while Sarah Platt's Tina O'Brien and Shona's Julia Goulding went for floor-length, ruffled ensembles. There was also Mikey North, who plays Gary Windass, Sally Dynevor, who plays Sally Webster, Jane Danson, who plays Leanne Battersby, and Alan Halsall, aka Tyrone Dobbs. They wer joined by Chris Hughes, who made it to the final of Celebrity Big Brother with Jack earlier this year. Flying solo, he was without girlfriend JoJo Siwa by his side, having just jetted back from the States. Completing the starry crowd were Maria Connor star Samia Longchambon, who was accompanied by her pro skater husband Sylvain, and Gail Platt legend Helen Worth, who recently bowed out of the soap after 50 years on screens. After Jack and Hanni exchanged vows, they emerged from the church to a shower of confetti, sharing a smooch in front of their nearest and dearest. Neither bride nor groom could've looked happier as their loved ones cheered and snapped photos. Ahead of their wedding, it was said that 'no expense' had been spared to ensure Jack and Hanni had a day to remember. A source told The Sun: 'Jack and Hanni are having their big white wedding at Manchester Cathedral on Saturday. They have gone all out to make sure it's their dream day, and there has been no expense spared. 'It's a very grand setting getting wed at the cathedral, and it will be packed with guests, including many of Jack's Corrie co-stars. 'They have hired top Manchester security service Capricorn to make sure everything goes smoothly on the day, and after the ceremony, everyone will head to the five-star Lowry hotel for a lavish after-party. 'Drake is even staying there at the moment, so who knows, he may well end up crashing the bash.' Jack also previously confessed that he took part in CBB to help pay for his luxury wedding, not expecting to emerge as the winner of the show.
