'Not my decision': BBC edit Irish language out of first play of new CMAT single
The BBC edited the Irish language out of a portion of CMAT's new single. The Dunboyne native released Euro-Country on Tuesday evening, with the first ever play of the song at 6pm on BBC Radio One. However, the opening of the song, which features just over 40 seconds of Irish, was not included in the play. Taking to Instagram, CMAT - real name Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson - confirmed that she was not aware of the move prior to the first play. "I just want to say really quickly that it was not my decision to have the Irish language edited out of the first ever play of Euro-Country on radio. I don't know if it was a mistake or what happened, however, they have just gotten in contact and said they are going to play the Irish language intro full version tomorrow to make up for it She added: "I don't know who edited that out but it was crazy. Yeah, not my decision but they're fixing it!" The single is the lead of CMAT's new album Euro-Country, which is set to be released at the end of August. The song includes a swipe at former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern over his time in government, with lyrics including: 'All the big boys, all the Berties, all the envelopes, yeah they hurt me. I was 12 when the das started killing themselves all around me...' The song reflects the financial crisis in 2008 and references the hardships people faced in Dunboyne and Ireland as a whole. The country star has already performed at Glastonbury and Primavera this summer, and will be a major attraction at All Together Now at Curraghmore Estate in Co Waterford next weekend. She is due to play the 3Arena in December.

Love Island favourite rushed to hospital after suffering painful injury in villa
A favourite to win this season of Love Island has had to be hospitalised after suffering an injury. Jamie Rhodes, who entered the show as a bombshell during Casa Amor, suffered the injury while in the villa in Majorca, and had to be brought to A&E on the island. It's understood that Jamie, who's coupled up with Yasmin Pettet, stood on a screw in the villa, and was brought to A&E with filming being thrown into chaos as a result. A favourite to win this season of Love Island has had to be hospitalised after suffering an injury. Pic: ITV 'Jamie was taken to hospital after an accident in the villa,' a source told the Sun. 'He stepped on a screw in the garden and after chatting to the villa medics they made the decision to take him to hospital. 'Filming was briefly paused and everyone was really worried as it's quite rare anyone gets taken out of the villa.' Bosses admitted that they were worried he was going to be exposed to the outside — and that other islanders would be injured — but he was bandaged up and was able to walk around, with him returning to the villa shortly after. Jamie Rhodes stepped on a screw and had to be brought to A&E in Majorca. Pic: ITV2 Jamie's injury came as the show was accused of being fixed, after it emerged that two of the islanders knew each other before entering the villa last week. Reports in The Irish Sun last week said that islanders Ty and Lauren were already 'acquainted' after they took part in the 'unfilmed' rehearsal week a few months ago, which then meant they were invited back to take part in Casa Amor. 'Ty and Lauren are acting like they've only just met but that's far from the case,' it was reported. The show was recently embroiled in a new fix scandal after it emerged that two of the islanders knew each other before entering the villa. Pic: ITV 'They hooked up during the dry run, which is where a fake cast moves into the villa to test out everything from camera angles, to kitchen appliances and run-through challenges, and then they even saw each other on the outside before ITV invited them back to be part of Casa Amor. 'Now they're both in the main villa pretending like none of this ever happened but it's all entirely fake and ITV know about it. Viewers deserve to know it's a huge sham.'
