Cairo: Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, held a closed-door meeting with Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt, on the sidelines of the 16th session of the Omani-Egyptian Joint Committee in Cairo.
During the meeting, the two sides reaffirmed the distinguished cooperation between the Sultanate of Oman and the Arab Republic of Egypt, emphasizing their mutual support for strategically advancing this partnership across various fields. This commitment aims to deepen the shared interests of the two brotherly nations and yield greater mutual benefits.
The two ministers also discussed a number of regional issues and recent developments relevant to the political and security priorities of both countries. They stressed the importance of ensuring coordination, aligning perspectives, and integrating efforts to promote dialogue and diplomacy in addressing various challenges and crises, while containing the causes of conflict and escalation for the benefit and stability of the entire region.

Other panellists included Sir Philip Barton, former Permanent Undersecretary at the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, and Chris Breeze, Managing Director of Ellipse Projects UK and Chair of the BOS Business Subcommittee. The session was moderated by Stanford and focused on opportunities for deeper bilateral cooperation across trade, infrastructure and innovation. Stanford said the discussions highlighted 'the growing momentum in UK-Oman trade relations and the shared ambition to deepen this economic cooperation through mutual investment'. He noted that the long-standing ties between the two countries continue to provide a strong foundation for future collaboration. Following the panel, guests attended the BOS Summer Business Reception, co-hosted by Omani British Society, which is chaired by Saleh Zakwani. Khimji and Tom Wintle, UK Chief Negotiator for the GCC Free Trade Agreement, addressed the gathering as Guests of Honour. The event was attended by the ambassadors of both countries, senior government officials, and representatives from a wide range of industries in the UK and Oman. Sofia, Bulgaria – H E Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, received the Badge of Honour of the President of Bulgaria on Friday in recognition of Oman's key humanitarian and diplomatic efforts. The award was conferred by Rumen Radev, Bulgarian President, for H E Sayyid Badr's crucial role in securing the release of Bulgarian crew members from the hijacked Galaxy Leader vessel and for Oman's broader contributions to regional peace and stability. The honour was presented during H E Sayyid Badr's official visit to Bulgaria, which included high-level talks and a joint press conference with his Bulgarian counterpart Georgi Georgiev. In their address to the media following political discussions held in Sofia, both ministers underscored the strength and depth of bilateral ties between Oman and Bulgaria. Georgiev expressed Bulgaria's 'deep appreciation' for Oman's humanitarian intervention instrumental in the release of the detained Bulgarian sailors and highlighted Muscat's ongoing diplomatic efforts in conflict zones. He affirmed that Bulgaria remains committed to further enhancing cooperation with Oman across several sectors. H E Sayyid Badr stated, 'The relations between our two nations is anchored in shared values, mutual respect, and a common vision for peace and prosperity. We look forward to translating this into concrete partnerships.' The ministers announced plans to intensify cooperation through regular political consultations and broaden bilateral engagements to include economy, energy, renewable energy, education, technology, artificial intelligence, culture, logistics, health, tourism, and direct air connectivity between Muscat and Sofia. A key outcome of the meeting was signing of a memorandum of understanding in the energy sector aimed at boosting collaboration in oil, gas and sustainable energy projects, including wind, solar and green hydrogen. On the international front, both ministers reaffirmed the importance of diplomacy, dialogue and multilateral cooperation in addressing global challenges. They stressed the need for peaceful resolution to conflicts and reiterated their countries' commitment to international justice and the principles of the United Nations Charter. Riyadh: The second stage of the industrial integration initiatives between the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia kicked off on Saturday within the activities of the Economy, Trade and Industry Committee of the Oman-Saudi Coordination Council. The launch ceremony was organised under the patronage of Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion and Bandar bin Ibrahim bin Abdullah Al Khorayef, Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in the presence of Sayyid Najib bin Hilal bin Saud Al Busaidi , the Sultanate of Oman's Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, its Permanent Representative to the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and a number of officials from the two sides. The ceremony included a virtual presentation on the key industrial initiatives between the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in priority sectors. The ceremony also discussed a number of future initiatives aimed at boosting industrial cooperation, expansion of the mutual investments and the support of the supply chains and manufacturing between the two countries. During the visit, Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion met with Prince Sultan bin Khalid Al Saud, CEO of the Saudi Industrial Development Fund. The meeting discussed the finance and financial support for the joint industrial projects. The meeting also discussed ways of exchange of expertise in the fields of industrial estates and finance of basic structure supportive to the industrial sector. The second stage of the industrial integration initiatives included incorporating the Sultanate's products in the list of the industrial potentials approved in the KSA and implementation of the rules of the national source of origin as to ensure equal treatment between the Omani and Saudi companies in government tenders and purchases. Qais Al Yousef reaffirmed that the launch of the second stage of the industrial integration initiatives and the signing of the bilateral agreements stress the joint interest of the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for boosting the economic cooperation and industrial integration between the two countries. Qais Al Yousef met with Dr. Fahad bin Ibrahim Al Shathri, CEO of the Saudi General Authority of Competition. The two sides discussed ways of technical and legislative cooperation and exchange of information on issues of competition and coordinating efforts for following with the cross- border harmful monopoly practices. The event also saw the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion and the General Authority of Competition on protection of competition and prevention of harmful monopoly practices. The Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion also met with Ibrahim bin Yousef Al Mubarak, Assistant Minister of Investment of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The meeting reviewed mutual investment opportunities in both countriesand the initiatives aimed at enhancement of the investment environment in the industrial and commerce sectors. The minister also met with a number of representatives of the Saudi private sector. The meetings reviewed the investment opportunities in the services, manufacturing and retail sectors besides exploring the opportunities of expansion in the regional markets through strategic partnerships between the private sectors in both the countries.
