Statements on leadership and guarantees continue as Surjewala will visit Karnataka for second time
'Mr. Shivakumar, who has strived to get the Congress to power, will feel satisfied if he gets the highest post. This can inspire him to do more work,' Veera Someshwara Rajadeshikendra Shivacharya told reporters at Kodihalli Sidddeshwaraswamy Hills in Kanakapura taluk near here. 'Though many are urging for his replacement as the KPCC chief, till he occupies the Chief Minister's post, Central leaders cannot ask him to vacate the post. If he becomes Chief Minister, probably he will vacate the KPCC president's post,' the seer said.
His comments came ahead of All-India Congress Committee general secretary in charge of Karnataka Randeep Singh Surjewala's visit to Bengaluru on Monday as part of his exercise of meeting Congress legislators. Sources said that Mr. Surjewala will be speaking to 45 MLAs over three days this week while he had elicited the opinions of 40 MLAs last week. 'He will speak to another set of MLAs next week. In the next phase, Mr. Surjewala will also meet MPs and Ministers to elicit their views on governance and government.'
This will be the second visit after a couple of senior legislators, including MLA for Aland B.R. Patil and MLA for Kagwad Bharamagouda (Raju) Kage, spoke of alleged corruption and slow-paced development works nearly a fortnight ago. H.A. Iqbal Hussain, Ramanagara MLA, had publicly raised the leadership issue indicating that Mr. Shivakumar would become Chief Minister in the next two to three months.
Meanwhile, Yelbarga MLA and Chief Minister's Economic Adviser Basavaraj Rayaraddi, who allegedly told Yarvanike villagers in Koppal district on Saturday that if they needed roads the five guarantees had to be given up, on Sunday claimed that his words had been distorted. Stating that he remained firm in his commitment towards the guarantee schemes, he said that there was nothing wrong in supporting the poor.
Attacking him, Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy questioned the statement and said that such remarks would only reflect the state of affairs of the government. 'You cannot expect any development works from this government,' he said.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah told reporters in Bengaluru on Sunday that there was no question of bringing changes to the guarantee schemes. 'It is a programme for the poor of all sections that strengthens them socially and economically. We are giving some amount of money to all MLAs, including those from the BJP and the Janata Dal (Secular), for road and bridge works in their constituencies,' he said.

Congress alleges rigging in Haryana Assistant Professor recruitment exams; seeks re-conduct and judicial probe
Alleging large-scale rigging and irregularities in the recruitment process for Assistant Professors in various subjects in Haryana, Congress Rajya Sabha member Randeep Surjewala has demanded that the exams be conducted again in a transparent manner and judicial probe initiated into the matter. A delegation of candidates also submitted a memorandum to former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda at his Delhi residence in this connection. Haryana CM media secretary Praveen Attrey denied the allegations as 'baseless' saying that Mr. Surjewala had made similar accusations over half-a-dozen times since the BJP first came to power in 2014 and was 'frustrated' over the people voting the saffron party to the power for the third time in a row expressing faith in its policies. Mr. Surjewala, at a press conference in Hisar, alleged rigging in the exam for the recruitment of Assistant Professor (Geography) saying that 32 questions for the exam conducted by the Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) were taken from the question paper for Geography's exam conducted by the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC). Is it a coincidence or an experiment that HPSC Chairman Alok Verma has also been 'imported' from Bihar, said Mr. Surjewala adding that the recruitment process could be easily manipulated by hinting the candidates to prepare from the BPSC question paper. The HPSC had advertised 2,424 posts for Assistant Professors in 26 subjects in August last year and around 1.5 lakh youth had applied for it. The posts were advertised after a gap of around five years. Mr. Surjewala said seals of envelopes carrying question papers for Assistant Professor (Hindi) exam were found broken at six centres and the HPSC had to cancel the exam two days later following a backlash. The HPSC initially maintained that the process was not compromised, but later cancelled the exam, which was the 'biggest proof of scam', alleged Mr. Surjewala. Addressing the delegation of the candidates appearing for the Assistant Professor exam, former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said that 'paper leaks, copy-paste exams and scams have become synonymous with the recruitments conducted under the BJP government'. On this occasion, Mr. Hooda said that grave irregularities have come to light in the Assistant Professor recruitment exam conducted by the HPSC. Apart from History, serious discrepancies have also been exposed in subjects like Hindi, Zoology, Chemistry and Physics, he said, adding that the candidates had already submitted detailed written complaints to the Commission, demanding the cancellation of these examinations. The candidates informed Mr. Hooda that 24 questions in the History paper were copied verbatim from a question paper for the recruitment of Assistant Professors by the Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission. The HPSC did not even bother to modify the questions, not in language nor in context. Mr. Attrey, however, accused the Congress of arbitrarily distributing jobs to its 'near and dear ones' during its ten-year rule, adding that the party was perturbed over change in system during the rule of the BJP, which had ensured jobs on merit.

Hisar: Congress leader and party general secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala has called for a judicial inquiry into alleged irregularities in the assistant professor (geography) recruitment exam conducted by the Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC). He alleged that 17 questions in the June 8 exam were deliberately tampered with, correct answers were changed to incorrect ones, and valid questions were removed from evaluation. He termed this manipulation, especially in a paper with negative marking, as a grave injustice. Surjewala provided specific examples, stating that answers to six questions (26, 28, 35, 37, 44, and 46) were altered. He highlighted question 46, which matched a 2017 HTET question where Jean Gottman was the correct answer, but was changed to Patrick Geddes in the current exam. He also claimed that 10 questions were removed from the revised answer key without academic justification, including six (9, 17, 20, 32, 36, and 63) that were completely valid. Of questions 13, 19, 43, 52, and 76, at least two had correct answers but were also removed. Surjewala alleged that 32 questions were lifted from the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) geography exam - 26 directly and 6 partially. BJP will win 130 seats if assembly polls are held now: BYV
Mysuru: State BJP president BY Vijayendra on Sunday claimed the party would win 130 seats in the state under his leadership if elections were held to the assembly now. He also said he gave special focus to winning more seats in the Old Mysuru region. He was speaking after inaugurating the Viksith Bharath Sankalp convention organised by the dstrict BJP unit, which was held to mark 11 years of the Modi govt. He said he would make efforts to strengthen the party by touring across the state and highlighting the failures of the Congress govt in the next two years. "I will not rest until bringing the party to power," he said, adding that the party also made preparations to win a majority of seats in the upcoming ZP, TP panchayat elections in the state. Vijayendra also challenged the Congress leaders, stating he was ready to take part in an open debate over the issue of initiating development works for Mysore-Chamarajanagar districts, comparing the present Congress and previous BJP govts. He criticised the state Congress govt, which came to power with the assurance of implementing guarantee schemes. However, he claimed that development works took a backseat in the state due to a paucity of funds, as the govt focused only on guarantee schemes, neglecting development. CM Siddaramaiah, who came to power by levelling false corruption charges against the BJP govt, has now exposed his corrupt face, Vijayendra said, contending that Siddaramaiah and his family members were involved in Muda and other scams. Now, the state govt has planned to loot money by announcing the distribution of food kits instead of providing rice to Anna Bhagya beneficiaries, he said. Siddaramaiah, who claims to be a champion of OBCs, is indulging in the appeasement of Muslims for vote bank, he said. Vijayendra also stated that PM Modi was taking the nation forward by maintaining transparency in administration and putting an end to corruption. MP Yaduveer Wadiyar asked BJP workers to shun their individual differences and work together to bring the party to power.
