New York Gov. Kathy Hochul announced the move Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2023, which has been expected for some time since the New York Racing Association unveiled plans for the $455 million Belmont Park project. The summer spotlight returns to upstate New York as the 2025 Saratoga Race Course meet kicks off July 10 and runs through Labor Day, September 1. For bettors, this 40-day stretch is nothing short of a proving ground — where full fields, high purses, and top-tier horses combine to create some of the year's most exciting wagering opportunities.
Saratoga is known for its history and pageantry, but savvy handicappers know it as something more: a meet that rewards preparation, pattern recognition, and bold, well-timed plays.
Why Saratoga Is Built For Bettors
At its core, Saratoga is a bettor's paradise. The meet features 64 stakes races, including 18 Grade 1s, and is packed with deep maiden special weights, competitive allowance races, and hard-to-predict turf contests. Average field sizes consistently rank among the largest in the country, with multi-race pools frequently topping seven figures.
Key angles bettors should consider:
Key Betting Days
The Saratoga stakes calendar is stacked, and several major race days offer exceptional betting value:
Track Biases & Betting Strategy
Understanding the track's tendencies is critical. Historically:
Live wagering and vertical exotics (exactas, trifectas, supers) offer rich payoffs when you can beat vulnerable favorites. In multi-race plays like the Pick 4 and Pick 5, structure is everything — go narrow when you trust a horse and spread when chaos looms.
What Sets Saratoga Apart
No other meet combines history, high-class horses, and handicapping complexity quite like Saratoga. From debuting juveniles to seasoned turf routers, every race demands attention. The morning line rarely tells the whole story, and late odds movement often reflects sharp inside money — especially in races with unknown quantities.
To stay ahead of the competition, handicappers need sharp tools and consistent insight. For expert picks, tickets, and wagering strategies all meet long, check out RacingDudes.com, where you'll find premium analysis designed to navigate Saratoga's most challenging sequences.
Final Thoughts
Saratoga isn't just a meet — it's a mindset. Every race is an opportunity, every horse a puzzle. With the right preparation, a willingness to adapt, and a little luck, the 2025 meet offers endless chances to cash in. So whether you're playing from the rail, the backyard, or your favorite ADW, make sure you're locked in for what promises to be another electric summer at the Spa.

Jalen Williams Makes Huge Personal Announcement After Great Thunder Season

Jalen Williams Makes Huge Personal Announcement After Great Thunder Season originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Jalen Williams has had an incredible few months. He has made All-NBA honors, All-Defensive honors, won an NBA championship with the Oklahoma City Thunder and, now, signed a $287 million contract extension with the franchise. The Thunder, unsurprisingly, rewarded Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Chet Holmgren and Williams each with massive contract extensions after the trio led the franchise to its first title since moving to Oklahoma City in 2008. Williams averaged 21.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game in his third season in the NBA. He even had an iconic 40-point performance during the NBA Finals. There is absolutely no doubt that the Santa Clara product, whom the Thunder selected No. 12 overall in the 2022 draft, will have a lengthy, successful career to add to his already-impressive resume. Williams makes big personal announcement After adding plenty of hardware to his trophy shelf and landing a massive contract extension, Williams gets to do something every kid dreams of. As he revealed in an exclusive interview with TMZ, the Thunder star will be able to retire both of his parents. "It's surreal," Williams said to TMZ. "I know everybody kind of uses that term, but it's wild because it happened really fast, like within the span of three years, my life is completely different." "But yeah, I mean, it's cool. I've been fortunate enough to retire my parents." Williams will be earning a hefty salary through 2031 and beyond, and every bit of it has been deserved. He's been one of the best stories since arriving in the NBA three years back and ascending to superstardom. Now Williams, along with Gilgeous-Alexander and Holmgren, will keep the Thunder in title contention for years to come. The journey begins this fall, when a new season begins and the team aims to go back-to-back with a very similar roster. Branden Carlson's 2025 Summer League debut had this Hall of Famer questioning why he wasn't drafted

After an ankle sprain delayed Branden Carlson's debut in the 2025 NBA Summer League, the former Runnin' Ute made good on his first game of the summer showcase. The 7-foot center scored 23 points while adding seven rebounds and two blocks to just one turnover for Oklahoma City in the Thunder's 92-75 win over the Orlando Magic on Tuesday at the Thomas & Mack Center. Carlson, who won an NBA championship as a rookie with the Thunder as a two-way player, shot 9 of 13 from the field and 4 of 6 from 3-point range in 19 minutes of action. His performance had a Hall of Famer singing his praises. Former Detroit Pistons guard Isiah Thomas, working as an analyst during the ESPN broadcast, questioned why Carlson wasn't a draft pick coming out of Utah. 'I just want to know what the evaluators, when they were evaluating him, were saying, 'Well, he can't do this,'' Thomas said of Carlson, according to Sports Illustrated's Cole Forsman. 'Because I haven't seen anything he can't do.' 'There are a lot of NBA evaluators and scouts who don't know what the (expletive) they're looking at, and that's the fact. We know there's no way that a kid like this shouldn't have been drafted.' Carlson prepped at Bingham High in South Jordan, Utah, and spent his entire collegiate career at the University of Utah. He left Salt Lake City as the program's career blocks leader (241) and No. 5 all-time in scoring (1,892). He went undrafted last offseason and initially signed a two-way contract with Toronto. After the Raptors waived him in October, the Thunder signed Carlson to a two-way deal in November. Carlson ended up starring for the Oklahoma City Blue in the G League, while also playing in 32 games for the Thunder, who went on to win the NBA title. He averaged 3.8 points, 1.7 rebounds and 0.4 assists while shooting 44.3% from the field during his time with the Thunder as a rookie. Last week, Carlson signed a two-way contract again with Oklahoma City. 'The talent evaluators should be ashamed of themselves for not seeing Carlson,' Thomas said in the fourth quarter, per Forsman. Later, after Carlson hit a 25-footer, Thomas added, 'I don't even know what to say no more. I just want to know (from) the 30 teams that were looking at him — what didn't they like?' Carlson and the Thunder play again Wednesday, facing the New Orleans Pelicans at 7:30 p.m. MDT. The game will be televised on NBA TV.
