Andhra to give free coaching to one lakh students for JEE, NEET
The state government will provide high-quality preparation material and coaching to MPC and BiPC students studying in its 1,355 junior colleges.
This is the first time ever that such a large-scale effort has been made in the state's education system to help students from economically weaker backgrounds compete at the national level, the government said.
It termed the initiative historic under the leadership of Education Minister Nara Lokesh, who is the son of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
The study material being given to students for free for Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics has been specially prepared by a team of top subject experts from both government and private colleges over a period of six months.
To make sure students benefit fully from this support, the government has also extended college timings from 9.30 a.m.- 4:.00 p.m. to 9.00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Every day, students have now started receiving at least two dedicated hours of coaching based on new material. Junior Lecturers have been trained to teach the content effectively.
Along with free coaching material, the government has also introduced weekly tests, performance reviews, and regular progress tracking -- best practices typically found in top private institutions -- now being implemented in government colleges.
'This initiative is about giving every student, no matter where they come from, a fair chance to succeed,' said Lokesh.
'We are creating an environment where every child in Andhra Pradesh can dream big and prepare confidently for JEE, NEET, and other national-level exams,' he said.
According to the minister, this step will benefit over one lakh students in 1,355 junior colleges in the government sector and is aimed at bridging the gap between private and government education.
"Our government firmly believes that quality education must be a right, not a privilege. Our mission is simple: to give every student the confidence, tools, and platform to dream big and achieve bigger," added the minister.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu ordered the formation of State-level executive and advisory committees for effective implementation of the P4 (Public - Private - People - Partnership) initiative in the maiden general body meeting of the Swarna Andhra P4 Foundation held at the Secretariat on Friday. It was decided to form P4 chapters in each one of the district headquarters and in the constituencies. Addressing the meeting, Mr. Naidu said the government was implementing the P4 policy to improve the living standards of the poor, and told the officials to identify 15 lakh'Bangaru Kutumbams' and one lakh mentors by August 15. He noted that the P4 initiative was intended to extend long-term support to the poor, and said NRIs, industrialists and wealthy individuals should be roped in to hand-hold the poor families. He said the objective of the P-4 initiative was to eliminate poverty by 2029, while recalling the overwhelming response received by the Janmabhoomi programme, which helped create assets in villages and towns. Through P4, it was contemplated to assist the poor, thereby reducing inequalities. The top 10% of the rich people must be connected with the bottom 20%, who were languishing in poverty, he advised, and that the help being extended by the likes of Gates Foundation, Vedanta and GMR should be utilised. Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand and others took part. The Chief Minister approved a logo for the P-4 initiative.

Skill Portal must be ready by Sept 1: Lokesh
Guntur: Minister for HRD and IT Nara Lokesh announced that the coalition government is developing a Skill Portal to connect youth with industries, aiming to create 20 lakh jobs in the state. During a review meeting with the AP State Skill Development Corporation at his Undavalli residence, he directed officials to launch the portal by September 1. The portal, aligned with Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu's suggestions, will feature automatic resume generation, skill assessments, and job vacancy notifications to help youth enhance their skills and secure employment. Lokesh emphasized a 90-day public awareness campaign to promote the portal and instructed officials to coordinate with departments for comprehensive data collection. He also mandated quarterly job melas in every constituency and action plans to improve district employment offices. The state will be divided into clusters for targeted skill development Lokesh revealed that the central government has allocated Rs. 600 crore for Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) under a hub-and-spoke model through a centrally sponsored scheme. Discussions also covered the OMCAP division, with suggestions to collaborate with foreign embassies to facilitate overseas employment opportunities. Key attendees included Secretary Education Kona Sasidhar, AP Skill Development Corporation MD & CEO G Ganesh Kumar, Director of Collegiate Education Narayana Bharat Gupta, Advisor for International Skilling & Mobility Seetha Sharma, and APSSDC Executive Director K Raghu.

SC rejects plea against NEET-UG answer key, results
New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday declined to hear a petition challenging the NEET-UG 2025 results over an alleged error in one of the questions. A bench comprising Justices P S Narasimha and R Mahadevan observed that a similar petition had been dismissed earlier in the week. 'We have dismissed identical matters. We agree there might be multiple correct answers. But we cannot interfere in an exam which is given by lakhs of candidates. It's not an individual's case. Thousands of students will be affected,' the bench said. The court was hearing a plea filed by a candidate who claimed a mistake in the exam question and sought a correction in the answer key along with a revision of results. The petition also requested a stay on the counselling process. The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), is a national-level entrance examination for undergraduate medical and dental programmes.
