Anbumani invites DMK to debate on caste survey

to a debate on caste survey.
Anbumani continued his second-day campaign as part of his 100-day rally titled 'Urimai Meetka, Thalaimurai Kaaka' (to regain lost rights and to protect our generation) from Chengalpet constituency.
After walking through the streets and distributing pamphlets to the public, he spoke at a public meeting where he criticised Stalin for not undertaking a caste survey in the state.
"Collection of Statistics Act, 2008, empowers even a panchayat president to conduct a survey and collect data, but Stalin says he has no authority. Whom is he trying to fool? Our neighbour Telangana conducted a caste survey based on this act, and leader of opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi appreciated its CM Revanth Reddy," Anbumani said at the rally.
He added, "In Karnataka, they conduct caste surveys twice a decade.
Why are you afraid of conducting a caste survey? I invite you (Stalin), your colleagues, or anyone from DMK to debate with me on whether a state govt has power to conduct a caste survey."

When Anbumani commenced his rally from Tiruporur constituency on Friday, police denied permission for his march, saying party founder Ramadoss did not permit it. On Saturday, however, police reversed their stand. "The letter we sent yesterday (Friday) was an internal communication for our department and has nothing to do with denying permission for the rally. We have not stopped Anbumani's rally anywhere, and it will continue.
We are just monitoring the law and order situation," said an officer at the DGP office, seeking anonymity.

No one has the right to take the law into their hands; some people emboldened by the dispensation are attempting to create a Jangal Raj kind of situation in U.P.; it is a lynching attempt that aims to create fear,' said Imran Masood, Lok Sabha MP and a senior Congress leader. Lok Sabha MP from Ghazipur, Afzal Ansari, said, 'I condemn this incident, it is clear that the accused have no fear of the administration and rule of law. They know no proper action will be taken, and this encourages them to attack poor Muslims.'

Kolkata: national general secretary is expected to reach Delhi this week as the party intensifies its stir in Parliament, demanding an assurance from the Centre "on the floor of the House" that the special intensive revision (SIR) in Bihar will be discussed. Trinamool's leader in Lok Sabha Sudip Bandyopadhyay and senior MP Saugata Roy are not in Delhi due to health reasons. The party's chief whip in Lok Sabha, Kalyan Banerjee, is representing Bengal govt in cases and shuttling between Supreme Court and Calcutta High Court. On Friday, the party's deputy Lok Sabha leader Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar attended the all-party meeting convened by Speaker Om Birla. Banerjee is likely to remain in Delhi and work on party strategy. The Diamond Harbour MP, who was part of Centre's outreach abroad after Pahalgam attack, is also likely to be a keynote speaker if Operation Sindoor discussions take place in Parliament. A senior MP said: "Trinamool is not opposed to discussions on Operation Sindoor. In fact, we want some answers. But this cannot be at the expense of SIR. Here we are talking of mass disenfranchisement of people who had voted in the 2024 Lok Sabha, based on arbitrary reasoning. We want a clear assurance from the Centre on the floor of the house that SIR will be discussed threadbare in Parliament."

Congress whip to LS MPs sparks intrigue as Tharoor's participation in Operation Sindoor debate remains uncertain
NEW DELHI: The Congress on Sunday issued a three-line whip to its MPs as the Lok Sabha is set to begin a three-day debate on the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor on Monday. After a week-long standoff between the Opposition and the Treasury benches, the Monday session is expected to be stormy as some Opposition parties are expected to raise the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Bihar as well. While Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is likely to open the discussion from the ruling camp, the principal Opposition party Congress has a line-up of Deputy Leader of Lok Sabha Gaurav Gogoi, general secretaries Priyanka Gandhi and K C Venugopal on the opening day. According to party sources, Leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi may speak on Tuesday. The party has been allotted three hours to speak on the issue. Sources said that besides Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will be speaking on the issues, amid indications that Prime Minister Narendra Modi may intervene to convey his government's track record of a "robust" stand on national security. The whip issued by Chief Whip Kodikunnil Suresh said, 'Be present positively in Lok Sabha from 11:00 AM onwards till adjournment of the House on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday and support the Party Stand. This may be treated as three-line whip.' The Lok Sabha Secretariat has listed a "special discussion on India's strong, successful and decisive 'Operation Sindoor' in response to the terror attack in Pahalgam" in its agenda for Monday.
