The 25-year-old player, who has won two titles this season, is confident that the outcomes would be good if they can maintain a high level of performance.
'We should not be overly concerned about the results. If we maintain our performance, the results will come naturally.
'I believe that is the best approach to easing the presssure on ourselves. We should be forward-looking and give it our all in the second half (of the year),' he told reporters at a training session at Akademi Badminton Malaysia in Bukit Kiara here yesterday.
He regarded their semi-final loss at the recent Indonesia Open to homesters Sabar Karyaman Gutama-Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani as a valuable lesson in handling pressure from partisan fans.
'Of course, the Indonesian fans would support them. We just had to deal with the situation and hopefully, learn from it,' he added.
Wei Chong-Kai Wun won the Indonesia Masters 2025 in January and the Malaysia Masters in May.
Previously, national men's doubles head coach Herry Iman Pierngadi has challenged his charges to win at least one title in the two upcoming open tournaments.
The Japan Open will be held from July 15 to 20 in Tokyo, while the China Open will take place in Changzhou from July 22 to 27. — Bernama

VAR to be refined for new M-League season after controversial debut, says MFL
KUALA LUMPUR, July 2 — The Malaysian Football League (MFL) has said improvements will be made for the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system for use in the upcoming Malaysia League (M-League) 2025/2026 season after several controversial incidents during its introduction last season. Acting MFL chief executive officer Mohd Shazli Shaik Mohd said two special briefings regarding the improvement of the system were conducted by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) together with representatives of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and the International Football Federation (Fifa). According to him, this is a step to improve the quality of refereeing ahead of the new season. 'The improvements are not yet in place, but we are aware of it (the issue) because last year was the first time VAR was implemented. 'So from the issues we identified last year, we will improve it for the new season,' he said recently. Last year, FAM Referees Committee chairman Datuk S. Sivasundaram said the performance of the referees and the implementation of VAR were rated as excellent, with an average of 0.57 'On-field Review' (OFR) per match and an average of 2.27 minutes of added time used for VAR reviews. However, several errors sparked criticism, including after referee Razlan Joffri Ali and a VAR official were suspended for two matches after the Super League match between Perak and Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT). Razlan, however, came in for high praise for his excellent refereeing in the 2024–2025 Malaysia Cup final between JDT and Sri Pahang, which JDT won 2–1. Mohd Shazli said the MFL is also now on the right track to ensure that the 2025/2026 M-League season runs smoothly and is free from scheduling delays like those that occurred last season. JOHOR BARU, July 2 — Johor Darul Ta'zim Football Club (JDT) have set their sights on continued success on the international stage, including in the AFC Champions League (ACL) Elite and Fifa Club World Cup, in line with the directive of JDT owner Tunku Mahkota Ismail Sultan Ibrahim. JDT Football Club chief executive officer Luis Garcia said the Regent of Johor's directive is the key impetus for the Southern Tigers to maintain their remarkable performance and soar higher in the Asian and world football arenas. The former national men's doubles coach, who last served with the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) in 2018, has confirmed that he will be away next week for a one-and-a-half-month coaching stint. 'I haven't gone out and coached anywhere yet (after 2018). 'It is just for a short term and friendly invitation. Not for a big team but a badminton club there,' he said. Soon Kit was speaking to reporters at a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony and the official launch of Sentuhan Wira, an upcoming movie that will chronicle Malaysia's historic 1992 Thomas Cup triumph. The 1996 Olympic Games silver medallist said his decision to accept the role came after persistent approaches from the club. When pressed to reveal the country where he will continue his coaching journey, the 57-year-old chose to keep the destination under wraps. Sentuhan Wira is the brainchild of Soon Kit and another national badminton legend, Datuk Rashid Sidek. As advisers to the production, both of them were directly involved in the development of the script and technical research on the matches, ensuring that the spirit and historical accuracy of Malaysia's 1992 Thomas Cup victory are portrayed authentically and emotionally. The film is expected to begin shooting this November and will be released in cinemas next year.
