Initial reporting from the MSHP states that at about 8:20 p.m. Saturday, Troop F was made aware of a man throwing a woman off a boat in Davey Hollow Cove at Lake of the Ozarks.
While on their way to the scene, Water Patrol Division troopers saw Peters' boat, an orange 2023 Hayaari Marine H44Z, at the 10-mile mark of the main channel.
Troopers then drove their boat over to talk to Peters, but he sped away, leading to a high-speed chase.
The pursuit came to an end when Peters entered Mill Creek Cove and left the boat at a dock near Walleye Drive, and ran away on foot. Court records said he fled through a neighborhood into the woods; however, he was eventually taken into custody by troopers just before 8:45 p.m.

According to court documents, Peters' speech was delayed, his eyes were bloodshot and he smelled strongly of alcohol. Troopers then asked if he would take a Preliminary Breath Test and/or a chemical test of his breath, but he refused.
Following further investigations, court records said an open alcoholic drink was found near the driver's seat of the boat.
Peters was taken into custody at the Morgan County jail Saturday night, but he bonded out the following day. His first court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday at 9 a.m.

1 man in critical condition after shooting in Pittsburgh's Bedford Dwellings neighborhood

A man has been hospitalized in critical condition after a shooting in Pittsburgh's Bedford Dwellings neighborhood. Just before 8 p.m. Sunday, Pittsburgh police officers from Zone 2 were dispatched to the 2500 block of Chauncey Drive for a single, four-round ShotSpotter alert. While officers were en route to the scene, a man with a single gunshot wound to his chest arrived at the Zone 2 police station after driving himself there. EMS personnel subsequently transported the man to an area hospital. A preliminary information suggests that the suspect fled the scene on Chauncey Drive in a vehicle, heading north, towards the McKees Rocks area. Officers are reviewing any available camera footage and interviewing witnesses in the area as the investigation remains ongoing.

Secret Service thwarts potential threat near Trump's White House grounds with rapid response

The U.S. Secret Service confirmed Sunday evening that a person is in custody following reports that a suspicious package was found near the White House. "At approximately 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 27, 2025, U.S. Secret Service Uniformed Division officers immediately apprehend [sic] an individual who climbed a fence on the southeast side of the U.S. Treasury Building," the federal law enforcement agency told Fox News. The suspect allegedly dropped a bag on the sidewalk adjacent to the fence line of the building, which is located adjacent to the White House. That prompted a response from the Metropolitan Police Department's Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team, who cleared the item. The suspect was transported to a local hospital for a medical evaluation, and will face charges for unlawful entry, as well as fugitive from justice stemming from a warrant in a different jurisdiction. Twice during his 2024 campaign for the nation's highest office, President Donald Trump was the subject of assassination attempts. July 13 marked one year since a lone gunman on a rooftop at the Butler Farm Show Grounds in Pennsylvania fired eight rounds at the president while he hosted a campaign rally. Trump was shot in the ear before his Secret Service detail dove atop him and pulled him to the ground. The gunman was killed by authorities at the scene. Trump emerged with blood dripping down his cheek, and in an iconic moment, raised his fist and chanted, "Fight, fight, fight" while his security detail attempted to whisk him away to safety. Corey Camperatore, a local former fire chief who was attending the rally, was shot and killed while valiantly shielding his family from the volley of gunfire. Just three months later, the Secret Service spotted the barrel of a rifle poking through the bushes while Trump played golf at his Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida. The suspect in that alleged attempt on Trump's life, Ryan Routh, 59, ran away when spotted, only to be taken into custody a short time later. He was charged with assaulting a federal officer and multiple firearms violations, along with the attempted assassination. He is scheduled to represent himself at his upcoming trial.

Phone search by police at Corewell Hospital shooting leads to child sex abuse charges

A 21-year-old man faces six felony charges after police, while investigating the Corewell Hospital shooting in March, allegedly found child sexually abusive materials on his phone, the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office said Friday. Court records show Frederik Stolaj of Washington Township, Michigan, is charged with three counts of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material and three counts of using a computer to commit a crime. According to the prosecutor's office, officers with the Troy Police Department were investigating the March 20 shooting at Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital when they "came into possession" of Stolaj's phone. Officers, while examining the device, allegedly found images of child sexually abusive materials. Stolaj posted a $100,000 bond on Tuesday, according to court records. As a condition of his bond, Stolaj must wear a GPS tether and can not have contact with anyone under the age of 18. He's due back in court for a probable cause conference on Aug. 5. If convicted, Stolaj faces up to 60 years in prison.
