Maruti's Manesar railway siding to cut 65,000 truck trips annually

Manesar (Haryana) [India], June 17 (ANI): Maruti Suzuki's new railway siding at its Manesar plant will eliminate approximately 65,000 truck trips annually, translating to 232 fewer truck journeys per day based on 280 working days, Senior Executive Director, Corporate Affairs, Rahul Bharti announced on Tuesday.
Speaking to ANI at the Manesar facility, Bharti highlighted that the railway terminal will dispatch seven popular models including Celerio, WagonR, SPresso, Dzire, Brezza, Ertiga and XL6, while export vehicles will be transported to Pipavav and Mundra ports through the new facility.
The Manesar railway siding represents India's largest automobile GatiShakti Multi-Modal Cargo Terminal, capable of dispatching 450,000 vehicles annually at full capacity. Spread across 46 acres within the Manesar facility, the terminal features a fully electrified 8.2-kilometer corridor with four full-length tracks plus one engine escape track, a two-floor station building, and comprehensive support infrastructure.
The project, executed through a joint venture with Haryana Orbital Rail Corporation Ltd (HORCL) at a total cost of Rs 1,170.91 crore, marks the company's second such facility following the Gujarat plant's inaugural railway siding.
Maruti Suzuki's green logistics transformation has been remarkable since FY 2014-15, with railway dispatches growing nearly eight-fold from 5 per cent to 24.3 per cent of total vehicle dispatches in FY 2024-25.
The company dispatched a record 5.18 lakh vehicles through railways last fiscal year, contributing to a cumulative 25 lakh vehicles transported via rail since the initiative began.
Currently operating over 40 flexi-deck rakes with 300-vehicle capacity each, the automaker serves more than 600 cities across India through 21 distribution hubs.
The environmental impact of this logistics strategy is substantial, with the Manesar facility alone expected to avoid 175,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent emissions and save 60 million litres of fuel annually at full capacity.
As Maruti Suzuki prepares to scale production to 4 million units by FY 2030-31, the company plans to increase railway usage to approximately 35 per cent of total dispatches over the next five to six years, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable transportation and reduced carbon footprint in the automotive sector. Ayodhya's Ram temple to have titanium window grilles, a first in India: Nripendra Mishra
The window grills of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple will be crafted from titanium, marking a first-of-its-kind use in India, news agency ANI reported citing Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra construction committee chairman Nripendra Mishra on Saturday. In addition to details on the titanium window grills, Mishra also shared updates on stone procurement for the temple. (PTI) He said that the decision was made due to titanium's strength and lightweight nature compared to other metals. "For the first time in the country, the grills of windows of the temple will be made of titanium metal. This is unique because you know that titanium has a very long lifespan, exceeding a thousand years. And that metal is lighter than other metals," Mishra told reporters. In addition to details on the titanium window grills, Mishra also shared updates on stone procurement for the temple. He said around 14 lakh cubic feet of stone from Bansi Paharpur was initially planned for the project, but only one hundred lakh cubic feet now remains to be used. Update on 'main work' of the temple Last week, Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust general secretary Champat Rai stated that the Ram temple in Ayodhya is in its final phase, with finishing touches currently underway. Speaking to reporters, Rai mentioned that once this stage is completed, all heavy machinery will be removed from the site. He added that the "main work of the temple will be completed by October." Rai stressed the importance of ensuring that public 'darshan' (viewing) continues without disruption. He pointed out that key infrastructure components – such as the boundary wall, auditorium, restrooms, and the Trust's office – are still pending and "may take another year to be completed." Earlier, on May 2, the temple construction committee held a three-day meeting in Ayodhya to assess the progress of the project. On the first day, committee president Nripendra Mishra shared key updates after site inspections. He noted that, barring two components, the majority of the construction will be finished by the end of 2025. 'Except for constructing a four-kilometre boundary wall and the auditorium, all other constructions will be completed by December 2025,' Mishra remarked. He also mentioned that most idols have already reached their designated places within the complex. Only two idols—one for the Ram Darbar and another for the Shesha Avatar temple—are yet to be installed. The Ram Darbar idol will be placed in the sanctum sanctorum on May 23, while the other will be installed before May 30. The temple's construction followed a landmark Supreme Court ruling in 2019 that resolved the long-standing Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title dispute. Hindu petitioners had claimed the mosque was built on the birthplace of Lord Ram. The consecration ceremony for the temple was held on January 22 last year.

FPIs make net investment of over Rs 13,000 cr into Indian stocks this week
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], June 28 (ANI): Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) made a net investment of Rs 13,107.54 crore into Indian markets during the week of June 23 to June 27, according to data released by the National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL). The inflow reflects strong investor confidence in Indian equities. The data showed that FPIs made heavy investments in the Indian equity market, especially on Monday and Friday, indicating a positive shift in sentiment. With these fresh inflows, the total net investment by foreign investors in the month of June has now reached Rs 8,915 crore. This turnaround in foreign investor activity comes after geopolitical tensions between the US, Iran, and Israel eased in recent days. The easing of tensions has improved global market sentiment, encouraging foreign investors to look at emerging markets like India more positively. Additionally, strong domestic fundamentals are supporting this renewed interest. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) recently cut interest rates by 50 basis points in its latest Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting, which is expected to boost economic growth. Moreover, inflation in the Indian economy remains at a low level, further strengthening investor confidence. The combination of global stability, policy support, and strong macroeconomic indicators has made India an attractive destination for foreign investment at this time. On the domestic front, important drivers will be macroeconomic indicators, institutional buying support, and sector-specific triggers such as monsoon progress, consumption trends, and infrastructure push. These elements are expected to determine stock specific movements and FPI behaviour in the short term. Earlier in May, the net foreign portfolio investment (FPI) inflows remained in positive and stood at Rs 19,860 crore, making May the best-performing month so far this year in terms of foreign investment. The previous months' data also showed that FPIs had sold stocks worth Rs 3,973 crore in March. In January and February, they had sold equities worth Rs 78,027 crore and Rs 34,574 crore, respectively. Uttarakhand CM Dhami credits PM Modi for boosting research, global ties in energy sector

Speaking after the 'All India Oil Sector Meet', Dhami emphasised the importance of coordination between the economy, ecology, and technology to become a global power in this field. The event, attended by experts from across the country, provides a platform for discussing challenges, opportunities, and future directions in the oil and gas sector. Dhami mentioned that several research projects and partnerships with countries around the world are being conducted in the field of natural gas, showcasing the state's commitment to innovation and collaboration. Former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao was posthumously conferred with the country's highest civilian honour, Bharat Ratna, by President Droupadi Murmu on March 30, 2024. Born on June 28, 1921, in Karimnagar, Telangana, as an agriculturist and an advocate, Narasimha Rao entered politics and held several important portfolios. He served as the Minister of Law and Information (1962-64), Law and Endowments (1964-67), Health and Medicine (1967), and Education (1968-71) in the Government of Andhra Pradesh. Rao, the ninth Prime Minister of India, assumed office in June 1991 and stayed in power till May 1996. He is credited with bringing many economic reforms to the country, particularly for dismantling the License Raj. Rao took over the post of Home Minister on July 19, 1984, and was re-appointed to this post, with the additional charge of the Ministry of Planning, on November 5, 1984. He was appointed as the Minister of Defence from December 31, 1984, to September 25, 1985. On September 25, 1985, he assumed the role of Minister of Human Resource Development.
