Shock as Kate's assistant and long-time stylist Natasha Archer steps away from royal life - as she reveals her next moves

Sky News AU10-07-2025
After 15 years of loyal service, Natasha Archer, one of the most trusted figures within the Prince and Princess of Wales' inner circle, is stepping down from her royal role.
The 37-year-old, who joined the royal household in 2007, has reportedly left her post to start a private styling consultancy, marking the end of an era for the woman once dubbed the brains behind "The Kate Middleton Effect".
Archer began her career working for the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester before being personally chosen to assist William and Kate in 2010.
Though officially hired as a personal assistant, she quickly became one of Catherine's closest confidantes- and, more famously, her unofficial stylist.
"It's a huge privilege to work so closely with the royal family for over 15 years," a close friend told The Times, confirming a report first published by People.
"But she is very much looking forward to new challenges and will cherish her time at Kensington Palace with the fondest of memories."
Known affectionately as "Tash" by her friends, Archer has played a key role in shaping Kate's style, blending traditional royal elegance with contemporary fashion.
Her influence sparked a phenomenon dubbed The Kate Middleton Effect, where anything worn by the Princess would rapidly sell out and boost the profile of British brands.
A Vanity Fair insider revealed in 2014: "Initially Kate was a reluctant fashion icon, but now she enjoys it.
"Tash helps source some of the clothes. She shops a lot for Kate online, and calls in hundreds of dresses for Kate to try on.
"She has persuaded Kate to take some more risks. The hemlines are shorter and Kate's really pushing the boat out in the fashion stakes."
Beyond fashion, Archer has long been considered the Princes' "right-hand woman", supporting her during personal milestones and official duties alike.
She's accompanied the couple on international tours to India, Bhutan, Australia, New Zealand, Sweden, Norway and Poland, and was one of the first by Kate's side following the birth of Prince George in 2013, arriving at St Mary's Hospital alongside the Princess' hairdresser ahead of the now-iconic Lindo Wing photo call.
More recently, it's believed Archer was the one to collect the Princess of Wales from the London Clinic after her abdominal surgery in January, the operation that ultimately led to her cancer diagnosis.
In the months since, the mother of two was reportedly part of the tight-knit group supporting the Princess privately as she underwent treatment.
In recognition of her years of service, Archer was awarded the Royal Victorian Order in 2019, a personal honour granted by the monarch, then the late Queen Elizabeth II.
Her husband, renowned royal photographer Chris Jackson, shared a proud tribute on Instagram at the time: "Could not be more proud of this one!" he wrote, alongside a photo of Archer wearing her medal.
She was later promoted in 2022 to the position of Senior Private Executive Assistant to the Prince and Princess of Wales.
"She's unfailingly discreet and loyal to Kate," a friend told the Daily Mail at the time.
"This appointment means we can expect to see Natasha by Kate's side for years to come."
But while Tash's royal chapter is now closing, it's said to be on nothing but good terms.
According to People, the royal household has wished her "the very best for the exciting opportunities ahead".

Drake's Manchester gig cancelled due to 'travel logistics' issues

Drake has cancelled his gig at Manchester's Co-op Live arena due to "travel logistics" issues. The Hotline Bling rapper had been set to play at the venue in Manchester on Monday (28.07.25) but the performance has now been rescheduled for August 5 and organisers say "all tickets remain valid for the new date". Drake had already played two shows in the city on Friday (25.07.25) and Saturday (26.07.25) as part of his Some Special Shows 4 U tour and is also due to stage another gig at the arena on August 4. A statement on the arena's website read: "Due to unforeseen ferry schedule and travel logistics, tomorrow's performance in Manchester on July 28th has been rescheduled." It added: "The good news is that Drake will now perform in Manchester on Tuesday, August 5th, and it's set to be an unforgettable night." Meanwhile, Drake recently dropped a new single with British rapper Central Cee ahead of his shows in Manchester. The track – titled Which One – was revealed in an episode of the Canadian rapper's Iceman stream that was broadcast last Thursday (24.07.25) and filmed around the city. It featured scenes of Drake running from a pursuer in a Pinocchio mask – which was interpreted as a symbol for "lies" following the star around. He previously teamed up with Central Cee for the 2023 song On the Radar Freestyle. Drake had hinted at the collaboration during the second of his three headline performances at London's Wireless festival earlier this month – where he brought Central Cee out on stage. He told the crowd: "I'm so proud of this guy. "He's going around the world, killing it, shutting down every show, record after record." Drake also hailed other rappers from the UK during the festival, where he headlined all three nights. The God's Plan hitmaker said: "Nobody can out-rap London rappers. This is the best, this is the highest level." Drake revealed earlier this year that he is working on a new solo album and has promised that it will be "a slap". He said: "Thank you to everybody that's streaming the album. Every time, every journey. Working on a new album, it's a slap." Asked if it's a solo record, he replied: "Yeah."

Jamie Lee Curtis is 'prepping to get out' of Hollywood

Jamie Lee Curtis has been "prepping to get out" of Hollywood. The 66-year-old actress has confessed she worries about being cast aside by the movie industry in her later years just like her famous parents Janet Leigh and Tony Curtis so she's made sure she's got a retirement plan in place so she can "eave the party before I'm no longer invited". She told the Guardian newspaper: "I witnessed my parents lose the very thing that gave them their fame and their life and their livelihood, when the industry rejected them at a certain age. "I watched them reach incredible success and then have it slowly erode to where it was gone. And that's very painful." She added of her plan: "I have been self-retiring for 30 years. I have been prepping to get out, so that I don't have to suffer the same as my family did. I want to leave the party before I'm no longer invited." Curtis went on voice her opposition to famous women using cosmetic surgery, filters and AI in a bid to hang on to their youthful appearance. She told the publication: "I believe that we have wiped out a generation or two of natural human [appearance]. The concept that you can alter the way you look through chemicals, surgical procedures, fillers – there's a disfigurement of generations of predominantly women who are altering their appearances. "And it is aided and abetted by AI, because now the filter face is what people want. I'm not filtered right now. "The minute I lay a filter on and you see the before and after, it's hard not to go: 'Oh, well that looks better.' But what's better? Better is fake. And there are too many examples - I will not name them - but very recently we have had a big onslaught through media, many of those people." Curtis previously admitted she's actually a lot like her actress mother Janet, who died in 2004, aged 77, but she believes her mom wouldn't have approved of how she "looked" in some of her film roles. She told People: "I tried to do everything not to be my mother. And, of course, I'm very much like my mother in many, many, ways. "My admiration for her has swelled as my disappointments have lessened. I know that my mother was so proud of me and and what I've achieved, that she respected my husband's work and was thrilled to be a grandma ... "My mother's been gone a long time. And today I have a freedom to be myself that my mother's generation would never have allowed. My mother would've been incredibly upset at Everything Everywhere All at Once and how I looked."

‘No appetite at all': King delivers brutal message to Prince Andrew over Epstein scandal

Entertainment Reporter Bronte Coy claims there's 'no appetite' from the British public for Prince Andrew to return to royal duties. Ms Coy's comments come as Prince Andrew's hopes of returning to royal duties have been firmly shut down by King Charles, despite the FBI confirming it will not pursue any further charges in the Jeffrey Epstein case. 'There's no appetite from the British public over here for him to return to royal duties. There seems to be no appetite at all from the King,' Ms Coy told Sky News host Caroline Di Russo. 'He doesn't have that public life, and there really doesn't look like they'll ever be a return to it.'
