Apple's Q2 financial report shows record iPhone and services revenues

GSM Arena4 days ago
Michail, 01 August 2025
Apple reported $94 billion in earnings for the April, May and June months. The figure represents a 10% rise compared to last year and was fueled by double-digit growth across iPhone, Mac and Services.
Apple saw a record quarter for iPhone revenues with better-than-expected iPhone shipments in China and double-digit growth across Mac shipments. Net sales for iPhone topped $44.58 billion, up from $39.29 billion in Q3 of last year. Apple also confirmed that it shipped its 3 billionth iPhone this quarter.
Mac sales accounted for just over $8 billion. Cupertino also managed $27.42 billion in earnings from the Services sector, which includes the App Store and all subscription-based services, which is an all-time high. Sales for iPad and Wearables were down by 6.5% and 8.5% respectively.
Looking ahead, Apple could be facing some serious hurdles related to tariffs. Tim Cook revealed that the levies cost Apple $800 million over the last three months and could balloon up to $1.1 billion during the September quarter.

Samsung could release the Galaxy S25 FE a little earlier than you expect at a 'frozen' price

For a largely unremarkable budget-friendly high-end handset with pretty much the same specs and features as its predecessor (at least according to the newest rumors), the Galaxy S25 Fan Edition is sure making a lot of headlines lately, showing its slimmer and sleeker design compared to the S24 FE in all colorways and looking virtually guaranteed for an official announcement over the next couple of months or so. If you want to put a firmer date than that on the S25 FE name, a fresh Korean media report (translated here) will deliver exactly what you're looking for, as well as a ballpark estimate of the handset's possible starting price in its manufacturer's homeland. At least in South Korea, that's apparently when Samsung plans to release its next Fan Edition powerhouse. That's explicitly mentioned as a release date rather than a launch or announcement date, mind you, so there's clearly a good chance the Galaxy S25 FE will be formally unveiled even earlier. Last year's Galaxy S24 FE, for instance, was announced on September 26 and made available in markets like the US on October 3 before expanding to South Korea nearly a month later. The S24 FE was released a little later last year. | Image Credit -- PhoneArena This fall, of course, Samsung is unlikely to take as much time between the S25 FE's rollouts in the two key markets, but if Korean sales are indeed set to begin on September 19, I definitely wouldn't rule out the possibility of a US commercial debut taking place a week or two before that date. Otherwise put, we might be only a few weeks away from the phone's global launch at the time of this writing, which would certainly explain the steady recent stream of Galaxy S25 FE leaks from all sorts of reliable and semi-reliable sources. I realize that a million anything may sound excessive to a lot of Western ears, but the Galaxy S24 FE only costs the equivalent of around $680 in South Korea at 946,000 won, so the Galaxy S25 FE should remain relatively affordable this year at under KRW 1 million. That means Samsung's domestic Fan Edition smartphone pricing will either be "frozen" or "slightly increased", which is obviously likely to be true for other markets as well. This blurry image remains one of our best looks at the Galaxy S25 FE design so far. | Image Credit -- Evan Blass on X If that part of today's report proves accurate, the S25 FE could start at $650 (or, in any case, no more than $700) stateside. 128 gigs is likely to remain the entry-level storage configuration, and Samsung is expected to pair 8GB RAM again with both that amount of local digital hoarding room and 256GB. Under the hood, the biggest question mark is still the battery capacity (which could stand at a modest 4,500mAh or much more impressive 4,900mAh), while charging speeds are essentially etched in stone at 45W (up from the S24 FE's 25W limit). Although it's nice to hear in this day and age of a potentially "frozen" price point for a new high-end smartphone, the use of a pretty unremarkable Exynos 2400 processor (at least by 2025 Android flagship standards) had actually made me hope that the Galaxy S25 FE would end up costing less than its predecessor. Guess that's a dream I may need to give up already... while continuing to look forward to what could still be an interesting product launch from the world's top handset vendor next month.

Save $150 on the Sony WH-1000XM4 $150 off (43%) The Sony WH-1000XM4 might not be the latest flagship model from the brand, but they're still among the best headphones on the market. With excellent audio, plenty of smart features, and now, a $150 cheaper asking price, they're worth every penny. Get yours and save big at Amazon. Buy at Amazon Receive the latest mobile news By subscribing you agree to our terms and conditions and privacy policy Epic sound doesn't need to come at epic prices — trust me, I know. Finding smashing deals is my job, and I just found one worth your attention. I'm talking about the slightly older but still impressive Sony WH-1000XM4 . These high-end wireless Bluetooth headphones are a massive bargain at $150 off on Amazon right why should you consider these instead of the newer WH-1000XM5 (or the newest XM6 )? Simple — both models cost way north of $300, so these buddies are the clear choice if you're looking to save the most. Grab the ~$350 headphones for less than $200 and upgrade your listening experience at more reasonable getting quite a bit for your money, too. These premium headphones may not be a spring chicken, but they deliver high-end active noise cancellation (ANC) that's good enough to silence most unwanted outside noises. Truth be told, the more contemporary models perform even better, but again — they also cost way performance is another area where the XM4 shine despite their age. They deliver just enough bass to keep the energy up, excellent mids that make instrumentals sparkle, and high-frequencies for superb clarity without also getting special features like Bluetooth Multipoint connection, auto pause when you take the headphones off, and even speak-to-chat functionality. On top of that, they have fast-charging support, which gives you up to five hours of music within a 10-minute charge. However you look at it, that's a lot of features for over-ear headphones that can now set you back less than $ these the best wireless headphones? Not necessarily. But from my deal expert's perspective, they do punch far above their weight at their current price. If you agree, now's absolutely the time to get the Sony WH-1000XM4 for $150 off at Amazon.

Verizon might regret what it did to its most loyal base

Verizon just made a pretty unpopular move and customers are not holding back. The company recently removed its loyalty discounts – something that long-time users really valued – and now the backlash is coming in strong. – Independent-Syrup256, Reddit, August 2025 And it is not just a few frustrated users. Others who've been with Verizon since the Bell Atlantic days are saying they are done, too. For context, Bell Atlantic was one of the original Baby Bells formed after the breakup of AT&T in 1983 and it later merged with GTE to form Verizon in 2000. So, yeah, we are talking decades of loyalty here. – Gregorygregory888888, Reddit, August 2025 Plenty of long-time Verizon customers are clearly reaching a breaking point – and they are not holding back. –bd485, Reddit, August 2025 Another user chimed in with a similar story, only this one involves their whole family plan. – aspenextreme03, Reddit, August 2025 – RoundChampionship840, reddit, August 2025 And for others, the decision has already been made. – Refrigerator-Tasty, Reddit, August 2025 So yeah, it is clear: people are leaving. And the sentiment is pretty consistent – years of loyalty are being met with price hikes, disappearing perks, poor customer service and AI-driven support systems that just don't cut it. Still, despite everything, Verizon does have one major edge: coverage. If you live outside of a major city or don't really care about cutting-edge 5G speeds, Verizon 's 4G network still offers the most reliable coverage in many areas. That is something a lot of users aren't willing to give up, no matter how annoyed they are with price changes and customer service. So, if you are trying to figure out which carrier is right for you, it really comes down to what you value more – wider coverage or better pricing and perks. And if you are still on the fence, we've got guides to help you compare the best phone carriers based on where you live and how you use your phone.
