Charli XCX quietly marries musical star in London

Charli XCX has married the drummer of The 1975 in London in front of a small group of family and friends with sources saying it was a 'secluded, no expense spared' celebration.
The 32-year-old Brit tied the knot with George Daniel at the weekend with a video of the couple on their special day going viral.
The Apple singer wowed in a low-cut white mini-dress, wore her hair down with a lengthy veil and even donned her trademark Brat sunglasses at the intimate ceremony at the Hackney Town Hall.
According to The Mirror, there were only 20 friends and family in attendance, including Daniel's bandmates Ross MacDonald and Adam Hann.

As for the 35-year-old sticksman's attire, the groom opted for a casual black suit with an off-grey shirt underneath, plus a white flower in his jacket to match his wife's bouquet.
There had been reports that the pair were planning a lavish Sicily wedding later this year.
An insider told The Sun newspaper's Bizarre column: 'Charli and George fell in love with Sicily and knew they wanted to get married there.
'It's incredibly secluded and romantic. There will be no expense spared. It's costing tens of thousands of pounds and visually it will be mesmerising.
'Charli and George said they wanted a massive party and there are no restrictions on when the bar has to close, so it can go on all night.'
The source added: 'They have both had such a busy summer with massive shows, but from mid-August they're able to slow down and focus on their big day.
'It's going to be pretty star-studded too, with plenty of their celeb mates making the journey over to Sicily to watch them say 'I do'. Charli and George are so excited to become man and wife.'
However, Charli revealed earlier this year that she was feeling relaxed about her wedding plans and that she and Daniel 'just want to have a party'.
The 360 singer said: 'We're both very chill and we kind of just want to have a party.
'Neither of us are particularly formal about marriage or care about the formalities of the ceremony or whatever.
'We just want to be together forever and have a party with our friends.'
The pair got engaged in November 2023 after one year of dating.

'This is a full-scale takeover': Why the $10 million wedding of Apple heiress Eve Jobs and British Olympian Harry Charles has sparked a full village lockdown in rural Oxfordshire

A picturesque English village has gone into virtual lockdown as preparations ramp up for one of the year's most extravagant weddings between billionaire heiress Eve Jobs and British Olympic showjumper Harry Charles. The bride, 27, is none other than the youngest daughter of late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs and American philanthropist Laurene Powell Jobs. She and Charles, 26, are celebrating their nuptials with a jaw-dropping four-day affair in the heart of the Cotswolds, reportedly costing more than £5 million (A$10.3 million). Locals say the entire area around the exclusive Estelle Manor country hotel, formerly Eynsham Hall, has been effectively shut down as security teams, helicopters, and convoys of blacked-out SUVs descend on the usually quiet Oxfordshire village. "This is a full-scale takeover of the high-end venues in the Cotswolds for a huge event… there are going to be a lot of VIPs here this weekend," one resident told MailOnline. Another source described the occasion to The Sun as being "planned like a military operation," adding, "It's a society wedding like no other and it's turning rural Oxfordshire upside down. "The sleepy village feels like it's turning into a no-go zone, with secret service operatives and blokes who look like they work for the FBI." The star-studded guest list includes politicians, royals, celebrities and elite athletes from both the UK and the US. Former US Vice President Kamala Harris, who shares a close friendship with Powell Jobs, is expected to attend, along with her daughter Phoebe. Bill Gates' daughter Jennifer Gates is also reportedly on the list. Sir Elton John is set to headline the entertainment, with a performance fee believed to be in the ballpark of $2 million for a one-hour set. Guests are reportedly arriving by private jet to Oxford Airport, before being whisked to the venue by helicopter. Also tipped to attend are Princess Beatrice, Apple design guru Jony Ive, equestrian Jessica Springsteen, daughter of Bruce Springsteen, Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helders, and Sofia Abramovich, the daughter of former Chelsea Football Club owner Roman Abramovich. Behind the scenes, the Jobs family has enlisted top-tier event planner Stanlee Gatti, known for his work on Christy Turlington's 2003 wedding and Ivy Getty's extravagant 2021 nuptials—to ensure every detail is perfect. Powell Jobs, also shares son Reed, 33, and daughter Erin, 29, with the late Steve Jobs, who died in 2011 from pancreatic cancer at age 56. It's not known whether Eve's half-sister Lisa Brennan-Jobs, 47, will attend. Eve and Harry began dating in 2022 and made their relationship public at the Paris Olympics last year, where Eve was spotted cheering him on at Versailles. Harry, the son of 2012 team jumping gold medallist Peter Charles, followed in his father's footsteps and made his Team GB debut at the Tokyo Games in 2020 before securing gold in Paris. The couple reportedly bonded over their shared love of horses. Eve, a champion equestrian in her own right, has competed internationally and took home a bronze medal at the 2019 Pan American Games in Peru. That same year, she was ranked fifth among the world's top under-25 riders. After graduating from Stanford with a degree in science, technology and society, Eve turned her attention to modelling. She made her runway debut for Coperni at Paris Fashion Week in 2021 and has since graced the pages of Vogue, Vanity Fair, and fronted campaigns for Louis Vuitton. She was also named one of Tatler's "new generation of It Girls" in 2022.

‘Love when brides get married looking very much like themselves': Charli XCX's wedding reveals wider trend

Singer Charli XCX wed musician George Daniel, and all anyone can talk about is what the star couple didn't do. When two famous people get married, it is usually a spectacle that exposes just how different celebrities are from the rest of us. It is a big reminder that they have personal assistants and endless budgets, while the rest of us have siblings who have to help out of family obligation and a firm budget that makes you feel physically sick when you go over it. Leave it to Charli XCX, though, to be ahead of the trend. She managed to pull-off a low-key celebrity wedding that came across as genuine, rather than a gimmick. It also looked like a normal wedding, like the kind your trendy friend would throw that is actually fun to attend. The couple got married at a town hall in Hackney, surrounded by fewer than 30 guests, and then held their reception at a local Italian eatery. Charli XCX and the 1975 bandmate were then seen hanging out at the restaurant and \ wandering the streets as husband and wife with all their guests. It is very on point for the singer, with a growing trend towards 'quiet weddings'. If you've never heard the phrase, you'll need to get on TikTok because the Gen Zers are loving it. The term basically just means a smaller wedding, less lavish and more barbecue vibes. The concept has naturally risen in popularity as cost of living pressures have increased. According to social media data website, Aura Point, there have been over 62,000 monthly searches from couples trying to find their local registry office. A recent survey found that 29 per cent of couples are opting for smaller, more intimate wedding ceremonies. Despite the wedding being more relaxed, Charli XCX was still wearing a high-fashion custom Vivienne Westwood gown but, otherwise, the whole shindig looked unnervingly normal. It didn't look glitzy, over-the-top or inaccessible. It looked low-key, but effortlessly cool, which is not a surprise seeing as Charli XCX made Brat summer happen. The bride even had time to jump on TikTok and joke that if her musician groom didn't cry when he saw her walking down the aisle, she'd be turning around. Perhaps what is most interesting is that the singer's chill wedding is garnering as much fanfare as, say, Tammy Hembrow's Bryon Bay extravaganza, when she married Matt Zukowski. Gen Zers online are loving it to the point where perhaps a giant wedding is now just another thing Millennials do that is considered cringe worthy by the younger generation. 'I don't know how to explain it but I really love when brides get married looking very much like themselves,' one praised. 'Charli getting married at Hackney Town Hall, in Viv Westwood, then coming out the front to take pics like an East London royal wedding,' another Gen Zer raved. 'At Town hall? How very Brat of her,' someone else observed. 'She knows to make every moment unforgettable,' another said.

Eve Jobs and Harry Charles: No expense spared for Apple founder Steve Job's daughter's $10m wedding

There will be no expense spared when Apple founder Steve Job's model daughter ties the knot this weekend during a four-day wedding bonanza expected to top $10 million. An entire village in Oxfordshire is in virtual lockdown as organisers prepare for the lavish nuptials of heiress Eve Jobs, 27, and her Olympic equestrian fiancé Harry Charles, 26. Elton John is booked to perform and close family friend Kamala Harris is on the star-filled guest list. Princess Beatrice, the equestrian daughter of Bruce Springsteen, Jessica Springsteen, the Arctic Monkeys' Matt Helders, and Sofia Abramovich, whose dad Roman used to own Chelsea Football Club, are all expected to be there. Eve's siblings — Reed, 33, and Erin, 29 — are also set to attend. It is uncertain whether her stepsister Lisa will be there. It comes less than a month after Amazon boss and Lauren Sanchez dropped $20 million on their opulent Venetian wedding, surrounded by their glamorous celebrity friends. Eve and Charles first went public with their relationship in August 2024 at the Summer Olympics in Paris, where Charles was competing. Jobs, who is also a keen equestrian and has competed in World Cup finals, is signed to DNA Model Management and has walked for luxury brands including Coperni and appeared in campaigns for Louis Vuitton and on the cover of Japan Vogue. 'Eve and Harry's wedding is like a multimillion-pound fairytale,' a source told The Sun. 'It's a society wedding like no other and it's turning rural Oxfordshire upside down. 'The sleepy village in which it's taking place feels like it's turning into a no-go zone, with secret service operatives and blokes who look like they work for the FBI. 'Kamala Harris, who ran for the Presidency last year, is very close friends with Laurene and is on the guestlist.' They added: 'This is a very quiet place not far from the Cotswolds. Everyone is used to tourists and famous faces, but this is something else.' Eve and her friends went to Capri for a splashy bachelorette weekend. Steve Jobs died in 2011 from a rare form of pancreatic cancer. His philanthropist wife Laurene, who he married in 1991, inherited billions of dollars in stock in Apple and the Walt Disney Company. But she has previously said that inheritance was unlikely to be passed on to the tech titan's children. 'I'm not interested in legacy wealth buildings, and my children know that,' she told The New York Times in February 2020. 'Steve wasn't interested in that. If I live long enough, it ends with me.' 'I inherited my wealth from my husband, who didn't care about the accumulation of wealth. I am doing this in honor of his work, and I've dedicated my life to doing the very best I can to distribute it effectively, in ways that lift up individuals and communities in a sustainable way.'
