APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU) announced its National Service Scheme (NSS) awards for 2023-24 on Tuesday. University Vice-Chancellor (in-charge) K. Sivaprasad announced the winners.
The NSS units and programme officers chosen for the awards are: Mar Baselios Institute of Technology and Science, Shiju Ramachandran; College of Engineering, Adoor, Sreedeepa H. S.; College of Engineering, Cherthala, Priyakumar T. N.; Ilahia College of Engineering and Technology, Arun Kumar M.; KMCT College of Engineering for Women, Reena Abraham; Nehru College of Engineering and Research Centre, Rejumon R.; Government Engineering College, Sreekrishnapuram, Askar Ali P.; Thejus Engineering College, Vipin Krishna R.; ACE College of Engineering, Nandu Bhadran; and Baselios Mathews II College of Engineering, Darsana S. Babu.

Live Events The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation ( MoSPI ) on Monday announced that it has formed a Technical Expert Group (TEG) to oversee India's first full-scale household income distribution survey , scheduled for National Sample Survey (NSS), despite over seven decades of survey experience, has never conducted a comprehensive income survey. Past efforts, including pilot studies and experimental rounds between 1955 and 1984, did not lead to a nationwide rollout due to data reliability issues. Dr. Surjit S. Bhalla , former Executive Director for India at the IMF, will chair the TEG. Members include Aloke Kar, Prof. Sonalde Desai, Prof. Praveen Jha, Prof. Srijit Mishra, Dr. Tirthankar Patnaik, Dr. Rajesh Shukla, and Prof. Ram from MoSPI and other central ministries will also be part of the expert group will finalise survey design, methodology, and estimation techniques. It will also study international practices and assess how technology adoption impacts household has recently launched new annual surveys on unincorporated enterprises, services, capital expenditure, and domestic tourism to fill key data gaps. The income survey is set to add a critical layer to India's macroeconomic indicators

Vikrama Simhapuri University student participates in Global Youth Summit in Karnataka

Vikrama Simhapuri University (VSU) student and National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteer B. Yugandhar Reddy represented Andhra Pradesh at the Global Youth Summit – 2025 held at Yenepoya University in Mangaluru during June 5-6. He is currently pursuing an Integrated Biotechnology course at the university. The summit was organised by the State NSS Cell of Karnataka under the sponsorship of the State government. Around 700 young leaders from various parts of the world participated in the event. The discussions were held on various topics such as youth leadership, social responsibility, and global citizenship. VSU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Allam Srinivasa Rao on Monday expressed happiness over the participation of an NSS volunteer from the university in an international event. On the occasion, Registrar, Principal of the University College, NSS Programme Coordinator, NSS Programme Officers, along with faculty members and students from various departments conveyed their wishes to Yugandhar Reddy.
