Electronic Arts plans to close its subsidiary Cliffhanger Games and has cancelled development on its debut project.
EA's Marvel's Black Panther. game, which was formally announced less than two years ago will therefore never see the light of day.
The information came from an email sent by EA Entertainment president Laura Miele.
Laura shared that this change alongside others was to put their focus where they thought there was the opportunity for the most growth.
Beyond Cliffhanger Games, and other recent cancellations like with Respawn and an untitled Titanfall project, people have been laid off on its mobile, and central teams.
While this is believed to be less than was laid off last month's 300 people, it is still a significant amount reports GeekWire.
According to Laura, EA will be helping people find opportunities within EA.
However, Laura states that the Iron Man game in work at Motive Studios will continue, as will the third Star Wars: Jedi game, and Bioware's work on the next Mass Effect game.
This comes also after they announced the pausing of various racing games that had been in the works earlier this month.
Cliffhanger debuted in 2023 under the leadership of former Monolith Productions studio head Kevin Stephens, after a two-year incubation period.
Florence Pugh stars in Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts
It had yet to divulge any real details about its Black Panther project.
But earlier reports indicated that BP would've been an open-world action-adventure in the same spirit as Monolith's award-winning Shadow of Mordor.
Electronic Arts, headquartered in Redwood City, Calif, is one of the largest independent video game companies left in the modern industry.
It's arguably best known to mainstream audiences for its Madden and FIFA sports games, but has also produced big hits like Battlefield, Dead Space, Mass Effect, and Apex Legends.

Its recent layoffs have been attributed to a process of reorganization and refocus that was first announced in 2024 by CEO Andrew Wilson.
He said he was: 'leading through an accelerated industry transformation.'
Cliffhanger's closure is the latest in a series of shutdowns and layoffs that have plagued the international video game industry for over two years.
In the Pacific Northwest, impacted companies include Phoenix Labs, Monolith Productions, Rec Room, and Wizards of the Coast's Project Sigil team.
Fans on Reddit have posted about their disappointment and one said: "Wow. Created on 2023, closed in 2025 before releasing your first game.
"Never become a game developer friends."
Another added: "EA did the exact same thing with Ridgeline Games last year. Created in 2022 to create the next Battlefield campaign, closed in 2024 without releasing anything."
"This is disappointing. Really hoping the Iron Man gets a release and is good. Hell at this rate, I'm hoping that the Wolverine gets released" said another user.
One user commentated: "From the outside, EA is such a bizarre company to observe. It's almost like they have absolutely no idea what they want long term."
"Another one bites the dust. The industry is in complete shambles at this point" exclaimed another fan.
And another added: "What a disappointing shambles. Was really looking forward to this."

Scottish Love Island star Laura Anderson opens up on 'hardest week of parenting'
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Scottish Love Island star Laura Anderson has opened up revealing she is struggling with her 22 month old daughter Bonnie. The radio star uploaded an honest and heartfelt update on social media saying this has been her "hardest week of parenthood so far", reports The Record. She admitted she's trying to find her feet as a mother to a nearly two year old in today's society, comparing her parenting skills to her parents in the 80s and 90s as she struggles with 'gentle parenting.' Laura took to Instagram sharing a series of snaps and videos of her week, including a trip to the beach with Bonnie and her mum and snaps of Bonnie enjoying a day at the circus with her boyfriend, footballer Clarke Robertson. The 36-year-old opened up in the caption, as she wrote: "These may be images of love, laughter and core memories being made recently but the truth behind the smiles is - I'm struggling." "This has been the hardest week of parenthood so far for me. Bonnie is coming up for 22 months and a lot has changed and keeps changing. I don't know who my daughter is some days, I don't recognise her which has led to my dip in confidence communicating and or disciplining my own child (especially in public)," she admitted. She added: "I'm scared of responding in the wrong way, I'm scared of making a mistake because what if it teaches her long lasting bad behaviours?! And let's be honest if you grew up in the 80s/90s like me, gentle parenting didn't exist. We got smacked (no offence to my parents) and now it's illegal." "So I guess you could say I'm trying to find my place as a mother somewhere in between." "We also talk about the 'juggle' but It's so much more than that. It's the responsibility of choosing a priority every second of the day because we simply can't do it all. I love my child but this is inevitably the hardest 'job' I've ever had (and I've had a lot of jobs)." The social media star concluded the post in a positive light, revealing: "My new mantra though, is- 'show me how good it can get' So without wishing my daughter's childhood away or those precious bonding turning point/learning curve moments. I hope 'this' ie tantrums…too shall pass." Laura shares daughter Bonnie with ex-boyfriend Gary Lucy, and has regularly spoke about the struggles of single parenting. Laura and Gary split before Bonnie was even born, with the star labelling him as a "deadbeat dad" after revealing he barely sees his young daughter. Fans were quick to take to the comments showing their support, and praising Laura for being so open. One fan simply stated: "We're all wingin' it," alongside a red heart emoji. Whilst another expressed: "I hear you and applaud you for sharing," and a third shared: "Love how genuine and honest you are Laura. Parenthood certainly ain't all plain sailing but you've got this beautiful mama, even if it feels like you don't sometimes, that's a normal part of parenthood but you do n you're such a great mammy to beautiful Bonnie."

I've dated Love Island hunks & soap stars – but the WAG life is a game changer, says Laura Anderson
LOVE Island star Laura Anderson has revealed she loves being a WAG – as she fancies her footballer boyfriend even more when he's on the pitch. The Scots influencer, 36, from Stirling, has been waiting to find her soulmate after finishing runner-up on the 2018 series of the hit dating series with Paul Knops. 6 Laura Anderson says she loves being a football WAG Credit: Getty 6 Laura is loved up with Scots footballer Clark Robertson Credit: lauraanderson1x/Instagram 6 Clark plays for Dundee FC Credit: Willie Vass She later split up with the reality star and dated Another Level's Dane Bowers, 45, and Hollyoaks actor Gary Lucy - with whom she had daughter Bonnie - before meeting her Dundee defender beau Clark Robertson, 31. The ex-air hostess admits she used to hate watching football - but is now learning the rules so she can fawn over her fella. Laura said: 'I guess I'm a WAG now. I actually really like football. I didn't really like it before. To be honest, it just reminded me of my dad hogging the remote when we were young and I never got to watch what I wanted to watch. 'But now I like going to the games. I think he looks very sexy actually because he's quite bossy on the pitch and he's not like that day-to-day. He's such a relaxed, chilled out guy. 'So on the pitch he's always pointing and I'm like 'what the hell what's going on?'' Clark even reckons that Bonnie, who turns two in September, could be the next in line for soccer stardom. Laura added: 'Clark did say Bonnie's got a good left foot and she's actually really good at football already. 'I think I'm going to take credit for it because I started her out on the ball before I met Clark, but I think he might be trying to take credit that she's somehow following in his footsteps.' Single mum Laura, who split from Lucy during her pregnancy, quit her radio presenting gig on Capital Scotland's Breakfast Show in February. She walked away after less than a year due to suffering burnout from juggling super early rises for work while looking after Bonnie. Love Island's Laura Anderson gives tour of her HUGE new mansion with en-suite rooms and garden so big it could be a park The blonde bombshell would love to return to the airwaves one day - but until then she wants to fit everything around watching her daughter grow. Laura said: 'She is wild. It was her first day at nursery last week and I dropped her off and cried my eyes out. 'She's a sassy little thing but a mummy's girl at heart. There's so much to learn with being a mum and it's ever-changing as they grow. There's a new milestone each week. 'I need to keep up with her and meet those needs and I just want to do the best I can. There's definitely more pressure doing it alone as all the responsibility is on me. 'Sometimes I think that maybe if I wasn't doing it alone, I wouldn't be as good a mum. So I have to take it as a blessing because I do feel quite proud of myself that she's doing so well and she's so happy.' She added: 'I just fit my work around Bonnie now. There's jobs I have to knock back and I'd love to be going to London and going to these events all the time 'But it's just not worth it. I left Capital because I couldn't really be the energetic mum I wanted to be. I had to make a tough decision but I don't regret choosing my daughter over any work opportunities because they're only young once. 'I like doing brand deals and my Instagram and stuff like that because it is so flexible and I can work from home or anywhere else. 6 Laura and Clark went official with their relationship last year Credit: lauraanderson1x/Instagram 6 Laura previously dated Love Island's Paul Knops Credit: PA:Press Association 6 She was also romantically tied to Dane Bowers Credit: The Mega Agency 'I did actually love doing radio so it would be great if I could have a wee weekend show on Heart - as you get older you go from Capital to Heart apparently. 'Maybe even when Bonnie goes to school I could be back on. Right now it's just not working to get up at 4.30am five times a week.' One of the biggest changes in Laura's life since becoming a mum is the type of following she has. With 1.5million on Instagram alone, people love following her life and finding out what she's up to. Fellow mums often reach out to pay her lovely compliments and she admits it's a relief to be told she's doing a good job. She said: 'There's parts of being a mum that's relatable and I definitely feel it's a nice little community where other mums help me and then I help them back. 'You get a lot of comfort from realising you're not the only one going through things. I've had a lot of private messages from other mums telling me how much they love watching me and Bonnie and that they want to be friends with us. 'Like when I took Bonnie on holiday myself when she was young, you get other mums saying they never thought they could do it and that it helped them realise they could. 'It's little things like that that make me feel good as I see that it's the right decision for me to share if it's making someone else feel better.'

Jo Malone launches new ‘best ever' £59 perfume that smells just like ice cream
If you're after a new perfume for summer but aren't keen on the large number of beachy, coconutty, sun cream-like scents that fill the beauty aisles at this time of year, then we've found the perfect alternative. Popular British fragrance brand Jo Malone London has just dropped its latest collection for summer, and it's just divine. The Raspberry Ripple collection is, as its name suggests, inspired by the classic ice cream flavour, and inspired by nostalgic childhood trips to the great British seaside. While a full-size 100ml bottle of Raspberry Ripple Cologne costs £128, you can buy a travel-friendly 30ml bottle for £59 from the Jo Malone website and Cult Beauty (and both come topped with cute candy-striped bows). Jo Malone London describes this new summery scent as " A scrumptious raspberry ripple ice cream. Sharp-scarlet juices of lush raspberries and redcurrants swirling through white musk. Vivacious and enticing," with a top note of redcurrant, a heart note of raspberry, and a base note of white musk. As Raspberry Ripple Cologne only dropped today, customer comments about it are yet to build up, but there is one five-star review already on the Jo Malone website, which calls it " another best ever". "I bought this as soon as it was launched via the early pre-sale, so blind without smelling. I've done that with my last few limited edition scents, which have all been excellent," the shopper wrote. "This is no different and does not disappoint and I love it! Fruity and sharp but with a lovely background hint of subtle musk of some sort! Not too sweet but reminds me of summers and ice creams, It's very distinctive and for me, lasting well. I just love it! The packaging is also lovely, another JM triumph. I'm a big fan!" Our beauty editor Laura also had a sniff before it launched, and says, "I'm not normally one for fruity fragrances, but this is utterly irresistible. It's much more tart than sweet, and transports me to a particular moment or memory more than any other perfume I've ever smelt. A definitely summer hit." If, however, beachy, salty fragrances are more your summer scent vibe, you should definitely check out this £25 body mist that's been getting me so many compliments recently; I've even ditched my pricier perfumes for it. For something similar to this but with a bit more staying power, you could also try Jo Malone London's new Beach Blossom Cologne, £86, or the cult classic Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess Eau Fraîche Skinscent, which currently has 25% and is down to £43.50.
