Your house can smell like Kensington Palace with royal-inspired fragrance line
One of the first things you notice when you enter anyone's house is how it smells, which is why we all love nothing more than a great home fragrance that keeps things smelling fresh and welcoming. If you've ever wondered what royal abodes smell like, this brand new fragrance line from Freckleface is the perfect way to bring a touch of royalty to your home, with some lovely floral scents that are perfect for summer.
Created in collaboration with Historic Royal Palaces, the independent charity caring for some of the UK's most iconic heritage sites, the new collection was inspired by the history of several royal palaces and their gardens, including Kensington Palace, Tower of London and Hampton Court Palace. The new range was launched just in time to coincide with the Chelsea Flower Show, and includes everything from candles and wax melts to reed diffusers and scented ceramics.
Each item in the new Historic Royal Palaces collection is handcrafted and sustainably made, and comes in three distinct scents. You can choose from:
Royal Bouquet – Fresh orange blossom with subtle hints of florals and aromatic myrtle
Royal Garden – Rose and hydrangea with vanilla
Royal Nights – Oud with fresh citrus and notes of bergamot
The floral-based scents make this home fragrance collection perfect for the spring and summer months, helping bring a feeling of outdoors inside. One of the top picks from the range is the Historic Royal Palaces Large Candle which is priced at £42 and has a length burn time of up to 40 hours.
Each candle is made from 100% vegan soya wax and is paraffin free, with the natural wax ensuring it always burns cleanly and consistently. You can choose which of the three scents you'd like your candle to come in, or alternative if you're struggling with which to pick, the Candle Discovery Set is £45 and gets you all three scents in a slightly smaller size, with each having up to 20 hours of burn time.
If you've ever wondered which candles the royals themselves burn at home, we've also got the inside scoop. Kate Middleton reportedly loves Jo Malone's Orange Blossom cologne so much that she made it the scent of her wedding. British Vogue reported that Princess Kate arranged for Jo Malone's Orange Blossom Scented Candles to be placed around Westminster Abbey during the ceremony.
Meghan Markle, on the other hand, was noted in The Cut as loving the Bassett Rose Water Candle from Soho House. The candles are hand poured in England, and have notes of lemon, geranium and guaiac woods.
However if you prefer something that releases scent constantly rather than relying on lit candles, the £46 Historic Royal Palaces Reed Diffuser allows your home to be constantly filled with one of the three scents from Freckleface's collection. The large 200ml bottle provides you with enough scent to last up to six months, and are perfect for placing next to the bed or in a small cloakroom.
Other options include the more affordable Scented Ceramic for £14.50, which is ideal for hanging on your wardrobe or placing anywhere from drawers and suitcases to your car, or the £16 Wax Melt Set. The set gets you nine individual wax melts – three of each scent – with each wax melt offering up to 20 hours of scent release.

TULLE ORDER The best Shein wedding dresses for brides on a budget – including gorgeous satin-look number for £23 Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) YOUR wedding should be the happiest time of your life - but discovering the true cost of those Instagram-perfect wedding gowns can put a dampener on things. Instead of forking out thousands for a designer option, many brides are finding the dress of their dreams on Shein for a fraction of the price. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 12 Sophie Cook was balled over when she tried on this Shein wedding dress Credit: tiktok/@iamsimplyysophie Take bride-to-be Sophie Cook for example, she found a stunning dress from the Chinese retailer for just £40. And another lucky lady spotted a jaw-dropping dress being priced at a cool £13.77, thanks to a 66 per cent discount at the fast fashion giant. So why couldn't this be me? As a bride-to-be, I decided to see if I could be so lucky and reached for my laptop for a bit of online shopping. On average, brides in the UK spend between £1,300 and £1,500 on their wedding dress, with some designers even charging upwards of £10,000 for their gowns. Considering I'm going to wear mine for a matter of hours, I challenged myself to see what I could find for under the £150 mark. Here are some of the best options I found… Elitara Elegant Luxurious Beige Off-Shoulder Elastic Knitted Ruched Mermaid Hem Dress - £30.99 12 Off-the-shoulder dresses are all the rage, and this £30.99 gown was so good for the money Credit: the sun 12 The dress is available in sizes XS to L and has a lace section at the back of the train Credit: Shein The first dress I tried was this off-the-shoulder gown with a gorgeous sweetheart neckline and a fun train. And the best part of it is that is only cost £30.99. With proper steam, it could be taken to the next level and I was hugely impressed with how good of a deal it was. Belle Satin Strapless Maxi Dress With Adjustable Cross-Back Tie, Wedding Guest Dress - £23.49 12 Forget spending thousands on your wedding dress, this Shein gown cost just £23 at the time of buying Credit: The Sun 12 If you are looking for your Cinderella moment, it may have arrived with this eye-wateringly cheap dress Credit: Shein If you are looking for your princess moment, this is it. I was so excited to try this strapless gown, which had a flattering basque waistline. The dress colour looked whiter on the website, although it was listed as "apricot", and I was surprised just how goldeny/creamy it was when it arrived. If you added an underskirt, I think it could be taken to the next level - but for £23.49, it could be the bargain of the century. Lace Trailing Wedding Dress - £86.99 12 I got my Kate Middleton moment with this £86 Shein replica - that was over 2,900 times cheaper than the royal version Credit: The Sun 12 The dress reminded me of Kate Middleton's iconic lace wedding dress in 2011 Credit: AP 12 The dress has a breathtaking lace design over the body and train Credit: SHEIN My wedding dress dreams have always been influenced by one unforgettable look: Kate Middleton's iconic bridal lace gown. Of course, I'm not working with a £250,000Alexander McQueen budget — but luckily, Shein came through with a seriously impressive alternative. Their £86 version caught my eye, and once I tried it on, I was genuinely impressed. The dress featured beautiful lace sleeves and a flattering, structured fit that made me feel both graceful and totally at ease. For a price tag that's over 2,900 times less than Kate's, this felt like a major win. EVER-PRETTY Romantic Deep V-Neck See-Through Floral Sequin Short Sleeves Wedding Dress - £40.49 12 This beautiful floaty dress made me feel like a princess Credit: THE SUN 12 This £40 is a showstopper and perfect if you want a relaxed fit Credit: SHEIN If you are a boho bride, this dress could be for you. I instantly felt comfortable in this tulle gown, which was so pretty and flattering and only cost just over £40. I felt like I could sweep round it all day long, and immediately decided to keep it for my wardrobe. Elitara Elegant White Tube Long Flare Sleeve Round Neck Backless Rhinestone Decor Mermaid Wedding Dress - £33.53 12 This one wasn't a huge hit, and didn't fit me properly Credit: THE SUN 12 On the model, this £33.53 dress looked sensational Credit: Shein This dress looked promising on the website but was my least favourite of the bunch when it arrived - despite me loving the front neck buckle. I think it was a 'me problem' though and just didn't fit me right or perhaps was the wrong size as the front was super baggy. However, on a different body I think this dress would look more elegant.

Inside Princess Charlotte's impressive £92,000 jewellery collection: From royal heirlooms to sentimental pieces
Princess Charlotte is beginning to make her mark not only through royal engagements but also in her thoughtful approach to fashion - especially her jewellery. Like her mother, the Princess of Wales, Charlotte has started incorporating pieces with deep personal and historical significance into her wardrobe. At Trooping the Colour, she paid a touching tribute to her late great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, by wearing a diamond horseshoe brooch. The cherished gift, from the Queen herself, was a poignant nod to both her royal lineage and her personal connection to the late monarch. Similarly, the Kate honoured Queen Elizabeth by wearing the Bahrain pearl drop earrings, a classic and timeless pair from Her Majesty's collection. Yet Charlotte's style remains age-appropriate and relatable. She balances these heirlooms with more accessible, youthful choices. A perfect example was her recent appearance at Wimbledon, where she wore a charming Pandora bracelet adorned with handpicked charms believed to carry personal meaning - offering a sweet glimpse into her personality. Maxwell Stone, director at Steven Stone jewellers, tells the Daily Mail that Princess Charlotte is already 'mastering the art of mixing high street favourites with royal heirlooms'. He explains: 'Just like Kate, Charlotte effortlessly blends meaningful family treasures with personalised pieces, such as her playful charm jewellery. This thoughtful balance not only reflects her emerging fashion sense but also highlights her deepening connection to royal tradition.' Below, we delve into Princess Charlotte's growing jewellery collection. Pandora bracelet and charms: £223 At the Wimbledon Gentlemen's Singles Final, Princess Charlotte appeared in the Royal Box wearing a £65 silver Pandora Snake Chain Slider Bracelet. Her bracelet featured three meaningful charms: an emerald crystal, a silver heart disc engraved with a personal message, and a rose gold-plated Nala charm from Pandora's popular Disney The Lion King collection. Maxwell says: 'The emerald represents Charlotte's birth month of May, while the engraved heart - though its message wasn't visible - is likely to carry sentimental meaning. 'The most endearing touch is the Nala charm, which is believed to be a playful tribute to her brother Prince George's favourite film, adding a sweet sibling connection to her look.' Diamond horseshoe brooch - estimated value: £10,000 At this year's Trooping the Colour, Charlotte added a heartfelt touch to her outfit with a diamond horseshoe brooch - a subtle yet deeply meaningful accessory. The young royal first wore the brooch at Queen Elizabeth II's state funeral in September 2022, paying tribute to her late great-grandmother's passion for horses. Originally belonging to Queen Mary in the 1920s, it was later passed to the Queen Mother and eventually gifted to Charlotte by Queen Elizabeth II, continuing a legacy of remembrance and royal tradition. Maxwell explains: 'The brooch is more than just beautiful - it's a treasured family heirloom steeped in history and sentiment. 'I'd estimate its value at around £10,000, though its emotional worth within the family is far greater.' Accessorize necklace: £22 Attending the 2024 Christmas Day church service at Sandringham, Charlotte looked radiant in a festive tartan coat that perfectly complemented her mother's scarf. What caught the attention of onlookers, however, was her delicate gemstone necklace. The £22 healing necklace from Accessorize featured amethyst, rose quartz and onyx, sparking speculation that it may have been a Christmas gift. Charlotte's affordable jewellery choice suggests that she is already taking after her fashion-forward mother, who is known to be a fan of Accessorize herself, having worn at least eight pairs of earrings from the brand. Embellished headpiece - estimated value: £80,000 At the coronation of King Charles III in May 2023, Charlotte and Kate wore matching headpieces designed by Jess Collett in collaboration with Alexander McQueen. While many expected the duo to wear historic tiaras from the Windsor collection, their choice to debut custom-made pieces was an unexpected twist. Maxwell notes: 'Although the silver crown gives the illusion of being encrusted with diamonds, it's actually crafted from silver bullion and crystals, adorned with three-dimensional leaf embroidery. 'The result was a regal yet contemporary statement piece - elegant and eye-catching without the extravagance of traditional royal jewels.' Pearl bracelet - estimated value: £2,000 Charlotte also wore a bracelet featuring delicate seed pearls and a gold clasp during the coronation. The elegant piece beautifully complemented her dress, which was embroidered with floral motifs representing the four nations of the United Kingdom. 'Pearls have long held a prominent place in the royal family's jewellery collection and are closely associated with the late Queen Elizabeth II, who was rarely seen without her iconic pearl necklace,' Maxwell explains. Charlotte was also seen wearing an elegant bracelet adorned with fine seed pearls and secured with a gold clasp at the coronation Arabic bracelet - estimated value: £100 During her 2024 visit to Wimbledon, Charlotte was spotted wearing a dainty gold bracelet inscribed with what appeared to be her name in Arabic. The piece also included a small turquoise nazar amulet, a symbol traditionally believed to protect against the Evil Eye. 'The bracelet underscored Charlotte's growing affinity for personalised jewellery - a style choice increasingly popular among royal women,' Maxwell says. This personal piece echoed a jewellery trend embraced by other royals too - Kate, Meghan and Sophie often wear accessories that pay tribute to their children.
