Indian Test captain Shubman Gill on Saturday completed 6000 international runs during the third day of the fifth and final Test match of the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025, which is being played at the Kennington Oval in London.In the second innings of the ongoing Oval Test, Shubman Gill scored just 11 runs of nine balls, which was laced by two boundaries. With this knock, the cricketer touched the 6000-run mark in his cricketing career.Gill has scored 6000 runs in 113 matches at an average of 46.15 and a strike rate of 79.88 with the help of 18 tons and 25 half-centuries. His highest score of his career is 269 against England, which came in the second Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 against England.In the ODIs, the right-hand batter slammed 2775 runs in the 55 matches at an average of 59.04 and a strike rate of 99.56, which came with the help of eight centuries and 15 fifties with a best score of 208.In the Tests, the 25-year-old player has smashed 2647 runs in the 67 innings he has played so far at an average of 41.35 and a strike rate of 61.42 with a best score of 269. In the longest format of the game, he has managed to score nine hundreds and seven fifties.In T20Is, Gill has scored 578 runs in the 21 matches at an average of 30.42 and a strike rate of 139.27 with the help of three fifties and one century with a highest score of 126*.With this 11-run knock, Gill became the second player with the second-most runs in a single Test series by an Indian cricketer, which is 754. The first in the list is legendary batter Sunil Gavaskar, who scored 774 against West Indies during the 1971 Test series.The other names in this list were Gavaskar once again (732 runs against West Indies), Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal (712 runs against England), and former India skipper Virat Kohli (692 runs against Australia).With this knock, Gill also became the second most run-getter as a skipper in a single series, as he scored 754 runs in the eight innings of the Test series. The first in the list is former Australian cricketer Don Bradman, who scored 810 runs against England in the 1936/37 Test series.The other captains to achieve the same landmark are Graham Gooch (752 against India), Gavaskar (732 runs against West Indies) and David Gower (732 against England).

'The admiration and support I receive give me the energy to perform on the mat, so I'm fine with the pressure. As an Olympic medallist, I understand that people expect me to return with a medal from the World Championships, and I will give my best shot for gold,' Sehrawat told HT. 'I have worked hard on my defence during training stints in Japan and Russia. I got to spar with some strong international wrestlers, which really helped. My leg defence has been a weak area, and I've worked extremely hard to improve it. The worlds will be a good test,' he said. It has been a tough season for Sehrawat. He struggled with injury and took time to return to the mat. 'There was a problem with my knee at the start of the year, so I didn't compete in the trials for the Asian Championships. I wanted to be fully fit before making a comeback. It was important to get some practice before the worlds, so I competed in the Ulaanbaatar Ranking Series.' Sehrawat won bronze at that tournament and was happy with his progress. 'I was competing after almost a year. It was an opportunity to get back on the mat and test my fitness, so I was satisfied with the result.' 'I've been working on my fitness, and today I felt good on the mat. In the 57kg, there are some strong wrestlers — Olympic gold medallist Rei Higuchi of Japan and silver medallist Spencer Lee from the USA. I'll have to see who all are competing at the worlds this time, but I feel I have a good chance,' said Sehrawat, who trains at Delhi's Chhatrasal Stadium. Among the new faces, Sujeet and Udit (61kg) are expected to put up strong performances. New Delhi [India], August 5 (ANI): Indian Super League (ISL) outfit Bengaluru FC released a statement to confirm that they have suspended the salaries of players and staff members due to the "uncertainty" surrounding the future of the tournament. HT Image The ISL, which is usually held from September to April, has been put on hold due to ongoing differences between the All India Football Federation (AIFF) and the board's partner, Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL). While taking the current situation into account, Bengaluru FC have "indefinitely" suspended the salaries. The 2018-19 ISL title winners claimed that they were left with no choice but to take such an action due to the lack of clarity regarding India's top-tier football league's future. "In view of the uncertainty surrounding the future of the Indian Super League season, Bengaluru Football Club has taken what is a very difficult decision of indefinitely suspending the salaries of players and staff belonging to the First Team. Running and sustaining a football club in India has always been an uphill climb, one that we have put everything aside and made, season after season," BFC said in a statement. Amid the ongoing issue, AIFF on Monday announced that a meeting has been scheduled with CEOs from eight Indian Super League (ISL) clubs for Thursday in the national capital to discuss the matter with the nation's top-tier football tournament. "However, the lack of clarity on the League's future leaves us with no choice but to take this step. The future and well-being of our players, staff, and their families is of utmost importance to us, and we are in touch with them as we wait for a resolution," the statement added. The current decision has resulted in the salaries of captain Sunil Chhetri, other players and staff members being suspended. However, the club confirmed that the youth teams will remain unaffected by this decision. Bengaluru FC urged the AIFF and FSFL to take a prompt decision and end the impasse quickly. "The Club remains committed to growing and developing the sport and our operations with our youth teams - men and women - and BFC Soccer Schools remain unaffected by this decision. We urge the AIFF and FSDL to end this impasse swiftly. The uncertainty benefits no one, and a prompt resolution is vital for the future of Indian football," the statement concluded. (ANI)
