Dangerous Stunt Outside UP College Goes Viral, Car Owners Fined Rs 1.2 Lakh
A video of two cars performing dangerous stunts outside a college in Greater Noida has gone viral on social media. The clip shows high-speed driving, reckless overtaking, and life-threatening stunts carried out by young drivers in a Brezza and a Baleno.
In the viral video, the driver of the Brezza is seen overtaking at high speed and then abruptly applying brakes outside the college in Knowledge Park. A man leans out of the window, waving his hands. In the Baleno, another man is spotted extending a stick out of the window and swinging it dangerously as the car speeds along the road.
The video was reportedly uploaded on Instagram as a reel, complete with loud background music and a popular track to boost its viral reach. After the video surfaced online, the traffic police swiftly took action. A fine of Rs 63,500 was issued against the Baleno owner and Rs 57,500 against the Brezza, totalling Rs 1,21,000.

Dangerous driving under the Motor Vehicles Act
Unauthorised racing and stunts in a public area
Violation of traffic rules
Driving without seat belts
Disobeying police directives

Taking cognisance of the complaint, appropriate challan action was taken against both vehicles as per the rules, said the Noida Traffic Police.
Despite repeated efforts by authorities, many continue to engage in risky stunts on public roads. The police have urged young drivers to refrain from such acts that endanger not only their lives but also the safety of others on the road.
"Streets are not racetracks. Performing stunts on public roads is reckless and illegal," Noida Traffic Police have recently said.

Seat-blocking scam: Enforcement Directorate seizes Rs 1.4 crore unaccounted cash from Bengaluru colleges
Bengaluru: The Enforcement Directorate (ED), probing the alleged seat blocking scam, recovered unaccounted cash of Rs 1.4 crore when they raided a few colleges in the city and related places last week. The searches were carried out at 17 places, including the office premises of BMS College of Engineering, Akash Institute of Engineering and Technology, and New Horizon College of Engineering. The premises of a few entities engaged in educational consultancy services and some private agents associated with the scam were also under the scanner. "Various documents related to money laundering and other digital devices were seized. The search proceedings revealed evidence with respect to widespread seat blocking and use of cash in the admission process in popular professional courses in private institutes. There is an extensive network of agents and educational consultancy service entities used to bring students for admission from across India to these institutes. The admission in management quota seats is done mostly in an opaque manner based on extraneous considerations such as cash," the ED said. It was alleged that these colleges colluded with unknown persons, obtained the log-in credentials of students registered with KEA, and blocked seats by opting for seats in their college in the name of students who were not actually going to take admission. As per the chargesheet filed by Malleswaram police in Feb, no students were admitted to the blocked seats for 2024, though option entries for 54 seats were made. Neither the students whose credentials were used nor the colleges knew about the scam, it read. However, police have not given a clean chit to the colleges as of now. "We have seized 17 mobile phones from the arrested persons. They were sent to the forensic science laboratory for data retrieval. The reports are expected soon. If we come across clues on the communications made between the accused and the college staff, we will relaunch the probe in a new direction. The colleges have to answer us why there was communication between them and the accused," police said.

Vigilance finds 84 acres acquired by govt official
1 2 3 Bhubaneswar/Koraput: The state vigilance directorate on Monday discovered 84 acres of land, allegedly acquired through corrupt means by a govt official, Dayanidhi Bagh, at different places in the state. The anti-corruption wing's official statement confirms this "as the largest land detection" in a disproportionate assets (DA) case in vigilance history. The vigilance technical wing is currently assessing these properties' value. On Monday, several teams conducted property searches linked to Bagh in Bhubaneswar, Nabarangpur and Kalahandi, investigating claims of substantial illegal asset accumulation. "The record 84 acre land findings include a farmhouse spanning 40 acres in Bijraguda, Nabarangpur, equipped with drip irrigation and farming equipment investment worth Rs 1 crore. Additionally, a six-acre farmhouse in Phatakote, Nabarangpur, also featuring drip irrigation, was discovered," a senior vigilance official said. This investigation stems from an earlier case where four watershed office officials in Rayagada were arrested on May 22 for allegedly misappropriating over Rs 20 lakh allocated for 23 farm ponds under the MGNREGS scheme in Kashipur block. "As Bagh was the Watershed project director at that time in Rayagada district, he came under the vigilance scanner," read the vigilance statement. Bagh has been detained for questioning.

Woman ‘social worker' among 4 held on charge of abetting Jalgaon farmer's suicide
Nashik: Jalgaon police on Monday arrested four people, including a woman social worker, on charges of abetting a 47-year-old farmer's death by suicide early Sunday morning. The police are also investigating a suspected human trafficking and underage marriage angle amid claims that the farmer's daughter, who was seventeen-and-half-year-old in Jan this year when she left home in search of a job in Nashik with the social worker, was married off to a man from a family in Kolhapur. Her in-laws were putting pressure on the farmer and his family to send her back to Kolhapur as they had paid Rs 1.90 lakh and some gold to solemnise the marriage. Her father ended life because of the stress caused by these events, her brother stated in a police complaint. A senior police officer associated with the investigation said the woman, who turned major in May this year, was reported missing. "The police have traced her to Parbhani in Marathwada but are yet to secure her custody and bring her back to Jalgaon," he said. Senior inspector Rajendra Gunjal of the Ramanand Nagar police in Jalgaon told TOI, "The four people arrested in the suicide abetment case are the woman's 'husband', his cousin, both from Kolhapur, another relative and the social worker, who are from Jalgaon. A search is ongoing for the woman's aunt who accompanied the social worker to Kolhapur to get the girl married off to the family there by claiming that the girl's parents had passed away. " Jalgaon superintendent of police MCV Maheshwar Reddy on Monday said, "A counter-complaint of cheating has been lodged by the Kolhapur family in which the girl, her aunt and the social worker are among the five people named. The Kolhapur family has claimed in this complaint that the girl, her aunt, the social worker, and two others introduced her as an orphan, and claimed they were seeking a groom for her." The complaint further stated that after the Kolhapur family agreed, the woman's relatives demanded Rs2 lakh for the marriage, solemnised on Feb 3, and the Kolhapur family provided 40 gram of gold jewellery, including various ornaments. The complainant alleges that the woman visited Jalgaon and left the gold jewellery at her aunt's place before returning home. In April, she went to Jalgaon and subsequently refused to return, the police said.
