WTC 2025-27 Schedule: Full list of series, fixtures, dates and venues for next World Test Championship cycle
The 2025-27 WTC cycle will kickstart with Sri Lanka hosting Bangladesh in two Test matches. The upcoming championship retains its format of each team playing six series in total—three at home and three away—of varying lengths. To adjust for the unequal number of matches played by each team over the course of two years, the standings are based on PCT (percentage of points won).
A total of nine teams will take part in the competition, with the final two locking horns in the summit clash—to be held in 2027. Though Afghanistan, Ireland and Zimbabwe are also Test-playing nations and will feature in a number of Tests between 2025 and 2027, they will not compete in the 2025-27 WTC.
England will play the most number of matches (21) in the upcoming WTC cycle, followed by Australia (20) and India (18).
Here is the full list of fixtures for WTC 2025-27:

Shahid Afridi criticises Indian players after cancellation of India vs Pakistan match: 'Be good ambassador, not embarrassment'
Shahid Afridi questioned former Indian players for committing to the India vs Pakistan match, arriving at the venue, and holding practice sessions, only to cancel the WCL game at the last minute. He added that cricket and politics should not be mixed. read more Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has hit back at the players of the Indian Champions team for boycotting the match against Pakistan in the World Championship of Legends Cricket (WCL) 2025. India were scheduled to play against Pakistan in a WCL league match on Sunday at Edgbaston, but the fixture was cancelled at the last minute as reportedly some of the biggest names pulled out of the contest after facing criticism from fans. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD The Indian cricket team fans were unhappy with the Indian Champions playing against Pakistan only a few months after the Pahalgam terror attack, which resulted in the loss of 26 lives. After intense criticism on social media, Shikhar Dhawan announced on social media that he will not take part in matches against Pakistan, while a report in Telecom Asia Sport has claimed that Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Harbhajan Singh, Irfan Pathan and Yusuf Pathan also withdrew from the match. The report added that the players did not want to take part in a match that included Shahid Afridi. Afridi has been extremely critical of the Indian Army and the Government of India. After the Pahalgam attack, he had questioned the capabilities of the Indian Army and accused India of making baseless allegations against Pakistan. Afridi slams India players after match cancellation After the India vs Pakistan match was cancelled, Afridi hit back at Indian players, calling them an 'embarrassment for their country' as the match was cancelled due to politics. 'We are here to play cricket, and I've always said that cricket should be kept away from politics — it should move forward. A player should be a good ambassador, not a source of embarrassment for their country,' Afridi was quoted as saying by Geo Super TV. Also Read | WCL sponsor boycotts Pakistan as organisers cancel India match The former all-rounder also questioned why the Indian players hadn't boycotted the match against Pakistan before the tournament began. 'We've come here to play cricket. If [India] didn't want to play against Pakistan, they should've refused before coming here. But now you've arrived, even held practice sessions, and then suddenly changed everything in a single day,' Afridi asked. Shahid Afridi: 'Keep Cricket and Politics Apart' After India Refuses to Play Pakistan in WCL — IndiaWarMonitor (@IndiaWarMonitor) July 20, 2025 STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Reacting to the news that his involvement led to the cancellation of the India vs Pakistan match, Afridi said he wouldn't have taken part if he had been aware of the problems it would create. 'If I had known the match was being stopped because of me, I wouldn't have even gone to the ground. But cricket should go on. What is Shahid Afridi in front of cricket? Nothing,' he said. 'The game comes first. As a sport, cricket is the biggest thing. Bringing politics into it or an Indian cricketer saying he won't play against Pakistan — then don't play, just sit out. But sports is bigger, cricket is bigger, and it's bigger than Shahid Afridi too,' he concluded. WCL 2025 to go ahead as per schedule Pakistan Champions team owner Kamil Khan has meanwhile confirmed that the WCL 2025 will continue as per the original schedule and his team will be awarded two points for the cancelled game. He added that attempts will be made to keep India and Pakistan separate if they reach the semi-finals and the decision over the final will be taken later. 'All the remaining matches are taking place. The tournament is going on as per schedule, and there are no changes. As for the semi-finals and final, we're currently saying that if we make it to the semi-finals, there will be four teams, and we will avoid matches between the two teams,' he said. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD 'If we reach the final, then the decisions regarding that will be made then. And as for this match, the two points will be awarded to us, and we deserve those points as per the rules,' he added.

Bad news for India, star player ruled out of Ind-Eng Test series due to...
India star all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy on Sunday was ruled out of teh remainder of the Test series between India and engalnd. According to a report, Reddy sustained a knee injury during a gym session on Sunday, and scans confirmed ligament damage. The 22-year-old injury news has come as a major blow to India's hopes of winning a Test series in England after eighteen years. With Rishabh Pant, Arshdeep Singh, and Akash Deep on the injury list, the team is already struggling with fitness issues. Pant's availability as a wicketkeeper is still up in the air, as both Akash Deep and Arshdeep have been ruled out of the Manchester Test beginning July 23. Shardul Thakur is likely to play in Manchester Test In the absence of Reddy, Mumbai's all-rounder Shardul Thakur is set to be a part of India's playing XI in Manchester Test. Shardul, who has taken 33 wickets in 12 Test matches so far, was picked before Nitish in last month's series opener at Headingley in Leeds, but he did not accomplish much with the bat and ball. Nitish scored 43 runs (30 and 13) and grabbed three wickets (2 and 1) at Lord's Test. Nitish scored two runs (1 and 1) in the second Test of the ongoing Anderson-Trophy Trophy, but he was still included in India's playing XI for the third Test. Nitish Kumar Reddy Tests stats soo far On November 22, 2024, Nitish made his Test debut for India in a match against Australia in Perth, and he made an immediate impression with his batting. In the red-ball match at Optus Stadium, he scored 41 runs in the first innings and stayed undefeated with 38 in the second. He also took one wicket in the second innings of his first Test match for India, clean bowling Mitchell Marsh. In the opening innings of the Boxing Day Test between Australia and India, which took place at Melbourne Cricket Ground from December 26 to 30, Reddy smashed his first Test century for India. However, India lost by 184 runs, and his 114-run knock was in vain. Reddy has played a total of seven Tests for India, scoring 343 runs in 13 innings while also claiming eight wickets. In seven overs, his best bowling stats in Test matches are 2 for 32.

Brett Lee maintains neutral stance when asked about WCL clash between India and Pakistan being called off
Former Australia fast bowler Brett Lee weighed in on the recent contest that was called off between India and Pakistan in the ongoing World Championships of Legends (WCL). Before the clash, WCL released a statement and confirmed that the India-Pakistan fixture at Edgbaston in Birmingham had been scrapped. According to various reports, several former Indian stars refused to participate in the fixture. The denial of Indian players to feature against Pakistan stems from the heinous terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam on April 22. Following the attack, the relationship between India and Pakistan slumped and hit a new low. Lee was quizzed about his views on the match between the two fierce rivals being called off. While addressing the "tough question", the former speedster maintained a neutral stance. "That is a tough question. But the thing I'll say right is, I love India, I love Pakistan. So I hope that they can get to a discretion where they can appreciate themselves. But most importantly, we are here on a tournament. So Australia versus India versus South Africa. We are all inclusive. So what happened last night is what happened. We pushed for it," Lee, who is representing Australia Champions, told reporters in a press conference. WCL claimed that it had announced the India-Pak fixture after a recent volleyball match between the two countries to create happy memories for fans. However, the move backfired, and the league acknowledged in its statement that the decision may have ended up hurting the feelings of many and causing discomfort to the Indian legends. In response, a decision was made to call off the fixture. WCL further apologised for any hurt sentiments. Dhawan shared an email written to the tournament organisers, where he stated that the decision not to play Pakistan had been communicated to the organisers on May 11. The email mentioned that the decision not to play Pakistan was made in consideration of the current geo-political situation. In his post on X, Dhawan said, "Jo kadam 11 May ko liya, uspe aaj bhi waise hi khada hoon. Mera desh mere liye sab kuch hai, aur desh se badhkar kuch nahi hota." (I stand by the decision I took on May 11. My country is everything to me, and nothing is bigger than the country.
