Saxon formed in Barnsley back in 1975 - and adopted their current name three years later.
Lead vocalist Biff Byford is set to undergo emergency surgery, which requires six weeks of recuperation.
As a result of this, a string of summer performances have been cancelled.
The affected dates are listed in full further down.
The band's management said: "Saxon were so looking forward to performing at all the below Summer festivals and events, but the health and well-being of the band obviously has to come first.
"It goes without saying that all in Saxon are gutted that they will be unable to perform but look forward to hopefully being back on stage in time to play both Trutnoff Open Air Festival in Czech Republic on August 23 and Neuborn Open Air on August 29.
"The band are also very much looking forward to their upcoming tours of both Spain, France and the UK later this year too."
Continuing, the management relayed that Saxon are "sorry for any inconvenience" and ask for "patience and understanding".
It means Saxon's Swedish club shows on July 24, 26 and 27 are cancelled altogether - with fans advised to seek refunds.
However, the band are working with ticket sellers in order to reschedule other affected dates.

Alongside Biff, other Saxon members include Paul Quinn, Nigel Glockler, Nibbs Carter, Douglas Scaratt and Brian Tatler.
During the 1980s, they had eight Top 40 UK albums - which included two UK top 5 albums.
In addition, Saxon enjoyed success overseas spanning Europe, the United States, Canada, South America and Japan, to name a few.
It comes as rock band Murder Capital have also been forced to cancel gigs.
The Murder Capital are an Irish five-piece who released their third album in February of this year.

Posting on social media, the band said: 'With heavy hearts, we have to cancel our tour this autumn due to unforeseen financial challenges and the ongoing travel uncertainties.
'This is a bitter pill to swallow. We hope you know how much we wanted to be out there playing these shows for ye all.'
They continued: 'Thank you to all our fans that bought tickets, we appreciate your support and can't wait to come back as soon as the time is right. Sending you all love in these strange times.
'All our summer shows are on, we look forward to seeing everyone out there.'

It has been a difficult journey for the 24-year-old to reach the All England Club, with Branstine revealing she was reduced to tears after realising she only had £19 ($26) left in her bank account. She told "When you play ITF tournaments and finance your own life as a young athlete, everything is very expensive. "I live in Southern California, and just filling up the tank was seriously draining my bill. "I thought about how I'm going to finance myself for the tournament now. I cried. I called my friends, I wasn't allowed to call my parents - if they found out, they would be very angry. "I just said to myself, 'Don't think too much. Do it.' And so after training I drove around Los Angeles and delivered dinners to people." Branstine, who has been labelled 'Wimbledon's most beautiful debutant', funded her tennis career by working as a delivery driver. "I didn't want to ask my parents for anything. I wanted everything to come from me and from my tennis. "I wasn't signed by these agencies because of my tennis, it was for my look. Boxing fans issue instant response to Tyson Fury comeback opponent
Fury has announced that he will be making a sensational return to the ring to face Usyk in a trilogy bout - but boxing fans have been left fuming with the news Tyson Fury has stirred up a storm among boxing fans after seemingly confirming trilogy showdown with Oleksandr Usyk. The 'Gypsy King' has been toying with the idea of a comeback, and on Wednesday evening, almost half a year since he declared his retirement, the 36-year-old confirmed at another return to boxing. Saudi boxing supremo, Turki Alalshikh, took to X - the platform formerly known as Twitter - to announce: "The 'Gypsy King' will be back!!! I talked with him, and I have his word to have him in Riyadh Season in have a rabbit to hunt!" Fury then shared this message on his own page, teasing, "Let's see what 2026 brings," accompanied by a string of dollar sign emojis and laughing faces. Fury has mockingly referred to Usyk as 'rabbit' before their previous encounters. The Morecambe brawler now claims that the trilogy fight is set for April 18, 2026, at Wembley Stadium. On Thursday morning, Fury posted on Instagram a promotional poster featuring himself and Usyk, captioned: "April 18, 2026 Wembley Stadium. The trilogy! UK. contact @spencerbrownmrgoldstar for tickets." Following the official announcement of the trilogy bout on Instagram, supporters were swift to voice their opinions, reports All Out Fighting. "Woohoo... The fight no one wants to see," one fan commented. Another added: "Don't really see the point in this trilogy. Fury could knock Usyk out first round and Usyk would still have the better record both in and out of the trilogy." A third responded: "Trilogies should only happen if there are questions that need to be answered from the first two fights. All the questions have been answered," whilst another remarked: "Just fight AJ ffs. No one wants to watch you lose again to Usyk." A fifth posted: "What's the point? Fought twice, well beaten twice." A sixth replied: "The fight nobody asked for," while another commented: "No way, we don't need this fight please." Fury initially lost to Usyk on points last May, before enduring another decision defeat back in December. The Brit's trilogy with the Ukrainian depends on the result of this month's heavyweight undisputed clash. Should 'Triple D' emerge victorious - Usyk may opt to trigger the immediate rematch which could scupper Fury's chances of a comeback. Earlier this week, the 36-year-old disclosed that the only bout that would inspire him to return is a trilogy fight with Usyk. "If I was going to come back I'd come back for Usyk," he said. "In England. That's the one I want immediately, that would be the fight I want next. In England for sure."

Violet Chachki: 'Dressing in drag was escapism, therapy... and channelling all of my anger and frustration'
The Chachki character was mood-boarded early. 'Bettie Page was on there, eternally. Dita Von Teese. I used to love Ladytron, this British band. Miss Kittin & the Hacker. Lady Miss Kier was huge for me.' She later became friends with the Deee-Lite frontwoman, a queer style icon, after moving for a brief spell to New York. 'It didn't work out for me. I just couldn't cut it. I'd just won Drag Race, just had my heartbroken in Atlanta, so I was kind of running away from that.' The nightlife was in many ways too alluring in NYC. 'You can get lost,' she laughs. 'Every time I go to New York I do end up walking around Times Square at 8am like a crackhead.' She is now happily settled in LA.
