Lionel Messihas recently dropped a new collaboration withadidas, spotlighting the iconicSuperstarsilhouette in two fresh colorways. Following the recent release of theInter Miami Gazelles, this marks another exciting chapter in adidas' ongoing partnership with the football legend.
One pair draws inspiration from Messi's current club,Inter Miami CF, featuring a light pink upper and his personal logo stamped near the heel, replacing the usual 'Superstar' branding. Gold accents outline the three black stripes, with 'MESSI' printed in bold lettering and additional gold detailing on the heel. A gold tongue tag with his logo and a textured toe box add extra flair and dimension to the design.
The second colorway pays tribute to Messi's Argentine heritage. Dressed in a cream white base, it's complemented by light blue three-stripe branding — a subtle nod to the Argentine flag. As with the first pair, Messi's name and logo appear on the tongue, heel and upper for a signature finish.
This collaboration underscores adidas' continued push to reintroduce and reimagine the Superstar throughout 2025, with more drops and partnerships in the pipeline. For Messi fans and sneakerheads alike, the collection delivers a perfect mix of athletic legacy and streetwear staple.

Sonay Kartal: The unlikely heroine flying the flag for Britain

With 14 tattoos, a retro range of baggy Adidas clothes, and a childhood spent around her parents' kebab shop while struggling to afford tennis coaching, the sense that Sonay Kartal's Wimbledon fairy tale could reach far beyond a traditional tennis fanbase is obvious. We also now know that it was almost over before it started, with Kartal revealing ahead of her big Centre Court debut on Sunday how her baby steps in tennis – at the Pavilion & Avenue club in Brighton – became tinged with fear and anxiety. Advertisement 'We used to do this thing called the lines game, it's a little warm-up,' she said. 'They'd shout, 'service line', and all the kids had to run to the service line. That was always the first game and I was too shy for three months to actually come on court. My coach Julie [Hobbs] finally managed to get me to do it. I tried to run to the outside tramline, tripped over, burst into tears. Off I went, and I didn't come back for a couple of months.' It is a story that plenty of parents and children will relate to, with Hobbs, a former British No 1, eventually coaxing her back to the sport. Fast forward 17 years and you did not need long around a packed Court 16 on Saturday to feel the impact that Kartal is having. Fresh from three brilliant singles wins, she was in doubles action alongside her friend Jodie Burrage in front of a distinctly youthful audience. Kartal has attracted a youthful following after a successful first week at Wimbledon - Getty Images/Rob Newell Kartal, who is now 23 and the last remaining British woman in the singles draw, hopes that her story can particularly inspire girls who are shy about sport. Advertisement 'My coach has a daughter and she was super shy, got into tennis and has changed like a completely different person,' she said. 'She's got so much more personality, she's so much more talkative.' And is playing sport becoming cooler for girls? 'I think it's changing,' she says. 'I think now a lot of girls are getting more comfortable with having more muscle on their body. I think that's turning, which is obviously incredible. 'I don't think anyone should feel like girls have to look a certain way. I think that's changing in tennis as well. You look at the tennis players, everyone's all different physiques and sizes and heights. So, it's definitely getting more versatile. If I can inspire kids, whether that's boys or girls, then I'm obviously doing something good.' Kartal played football and cricket at a similar level to her tennis until she was 13 and is a self-confessed sports lover. 'I was a little bit of a tomboy and super sporty,' she said. 'I loved football. My school actually used to have a lot of girls football and I used to go to my local park with my dad. In cricket I was always the batter and just launching [the ball] as far as I could.' Saturday's doubles might not have gone to plan – Kartal and Burrage were beaten in straight sets – but her partner could sense the buzz. Kartal had been informed that she would be first up on Centre Court at 1.30pm on Sunday against the Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova just before stepping on court with Burrage. Advertisement 'Her story shows there's not one way to do what we do – but multiple ways,' said Burrage. 'She has done incredible – and she is going to go a lot higher. For everyone out there, regardless of where you are from, you can do it if you put your mind to it – especially like this chick here. That's the moral of this story.' Kartal's ranking has risen from 864 in 2022 to the world's top 50 – she will overtake Emma Raducanu as the British No 2 once Wimbledon is done and dusted – and Burrage clearly does not think the story will end against Pavlyuchenkova. 'I've got full belief,' she said. Kartal goes into the match against Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in confident mood - Eddie Mulholland for The Telegraph There certainly seems little chance of the attention going to Kartal's head. She was six when she made that first trip to a tennis club following an invitation from a tennis official who had eaten at one of her father's two Turkish restaurants. And, while she was competitive against players like Emma Raducana through the British junior rankings, has largely progressed in senior tennis away from the limelight. Advertisement Kartal's social media remains largely fixated with animals or food and, perhaps most telling of all, she has resisted inevitable pressure to change a coaching team that, as well as Hobbs, also still includes Ben and Martin Reeves from her original club in Brighton. 'I was hearing people saying, you know, 'Do you think you should get a coach that has already done that?' But I didn't want that. If I can have a coach that can take me from a six-year-old to the WTA Tour, I think that's obviously good enough. We just learned together. It's kind of doing this crazy thing together. Kartal did find herself being recognised during a 'tricky' trip to the shops near Wimbledon on Friday night and her phone has been flooded with suggestions for her next tattoo. They have included one of Centre Court itself, a vintage polo shirt in recognition of her distinctive Adidas playing top and, from Burrage, an image of fire and ice. 'I actually like that,' she said. Among other things, Kartal is known for her tattoos - Eddie Mulholland for The Telegraph Fans are now suggesting what tattoo Kartal gets next - Eddie Mulholland for The Telegraph She has, until now, remained a member of the same no-thrills High Street gym in Brighton, although wonders if she may now have to review that arrangement. 'It was getting a bit tricky prior [to Wimbledon]. But to be honest they were actually pretty respectful there [at the gym]. They would just say hello and then just let me get on with it. So maybe I'll have to test that when I'm back. I go to the gym and just kind of have a bit of 'me time', stick my headphones in and just forget about the world. Advertisement 'People think I don't like [being in the spotlight], because I have gone under the radar my whole life but I don't have an issue with being in the spotlight or not being in the spotlight. I'll take it as a compliment.' Broaden your horizons with award-winning British journalism. Karen Khachanov takes the second set!

Follow live coverage from day seven with rain coming down; Carlos Alcaraz and Aryna Sabalenka are set to contest fourth-round matches later today Getty Images Welcome to the 2025 Wimbledon Championships with day seven hit by rain delays in the fourth round of the men's and ladies' singles. American Taylor Fritz (5) is on court against Jordan Thompson; Brit Sonay Kartal faces Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in only two matches in play with poor weather causing all other matches to be suspended. Carlos Alcaraz (2), Andrey Rublev (14), Amanda Anisimova (13), and Aryna Sabalenka (1) are due on court later. Watch: BBC (UK), ESPN (U.S.); Get involved: live@ GO FURTHER Wimbledon recap: Pride in London brings few rainbows to All England Club Getty Images Khachanov 6-4, 6-2, *0-1 Majchrzak Gee whiz, Karen Khachanov isn't hanging around. The 17th seed has taken the second set 6-2 against Kamil Majchrzak and has won 12 games in the time his opponent has won six. One more set from the fifth round! That is a beauty from Adidas, Caoimhe . Wonder if they're still selling jackets with the same pattern. Shut up and take my money, would be the response if so. Caoimhe O'Neill/The Athletic I spent the morning down at Wimbledon's museum and fell in love with this Adidas outfit from 1988 worn by Steffi Graf as she won the final against Martina Navratilova. This was before the dress code was as strict as it is today. And look at the stars, look how they shine for you. A vintage masterpiece. Getty Images Success today for Cruz Hewitt, son of two-time major winner and 2002 Wimbledon champion Lleyton Hewitt of Australia. Cruz... cruised into the round of 32 with a thumping victory on Court 9 this morning against Savva Rybkin, 6-1, 6-2. Emphatic. In case you haven't heard, The Athletic 's audio stable now includes The Tennis Podcast, with the brilliant Catherine Whitaker, David Law and Matt Roberts. During The 2025 Championships, the team will be live from Wimbledon on YouTube every night from 9:30 p.m. BST in the UK, 4:30 p.m. ET, with the show available as a podcast here straight afterwards. Listen and subscribe here, and catch up with last night's episode, discussing Iga Świątek's title prospects and much more, on YouTube here! Getty Images Welcome to the Hollywood actor, one of three to play Spider-Man on the silver screen, alongside Tobey Maguire and Tom Holland. Getty Images Khachanov 6-4, 0-0* Majchrzak Karen Khachanov does indeed hold on and take his second set point. World No. 109 Majchrzak trails the 17th seed. A contrast in emotions. Game face on for Kartal, who plays fellow unseeded player Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova on Centre Court this afternoon. Looking very cheery! She must have been gifted a subscription to The Athletic , or something. Probably. Khachanov 4-2* Majchrzak It's been a good start for 17th seed Karen Khachanov today on No. 2 Court. He won three games in a row, breaking Kamil Majchrzak, and just held to make it 4-2 in the first set. Two more holds and the set will be his. Getty Images 🎾 Men's singles, 12 p.m. ET on ESPN/ESPN+ Andrey Rublev (14) vs. Carlos Alcaraz (2) Alcaraz has mostly survived, rather than thrived at Wimbledon 2025. For Andrey Rublev, his second-week run is redemptive, after a first-round meltdown here last year which took him to a dark place. 🎾 Women's singles, 11 a.m. ET on ESPN/ESPN+ Linda Nosková (30) vs. Amanda Anisimova (13) Two of the purest ball-strikers on the WTA Tour face each other on a fast court. This should, simply put, be cinema. Caoimhe O'Neill/The Athletic Good morning from SW19. I got here before the crowds were allowed on site so that means you see the final touches being made by staff. Like this gardener doing a last minute bit of dead-heading to make the flower beds near Centre Court's plush entrance look pristine. This place really is British tennis utopia. The Athletic The top side of the women's singles draw is in action today. Lucky loser Solana Sierra has surpassed a lot of expectations to get this far, and she faces another unseeded player in Laura Siegemund, the doubles specialist. Top seed Aryna Sabalenka probably awaits the winner, though. The winner of two fine hitters in Nosková vs. Anisimova (more on them shortly) will fancy their chances of reaching the semifinals, given they will face an unseeded player in their last-eight tie. But don't bet against the British hope Sonay Kartal, who will have the Wimbledon crowds firmly behind her... The Athletic With the bottom side of the men's bracket in action today, there is a theoretical scenario in which only one seeded player could be in the two quarterfinals on that side of the draw. Qualifier Nicolás Jarry remains, too. Things look a bit sterner on the top side of the draw, with Sinner, Djokovic, and Shelton the biggest names there. They're all in action tomorrow, also live on The Athletic , of course. Getty Images Rise and shine, sleepy heads, it's go time at SW19. Beginning imminently: Karen Khachanov (17) vs. Scrabble player's dream Kamil Majchrzak, plus three matches in the men's doubles: Arévalo/Pavić (1) vs. Rikl/Nouza vs. Rikl/Nouza Pütz/Krawietz (3) vs. Hijikata/Pel vs. Hijikata/Pel Frantzen/Erler vs. Melo/Matos Getty Images An iconic look, to be fair. Double glasses? The Athletic respects it. Getty Images Union Jack make-up, I presume. Getty Images Queueing, as well as being an extremely well respected British pastime, is also firmly on display at SW19 over the fortnight. Fans queue up outside the grounds for the chance to buy premium tickets on the day of play, with some even camping out overnight or getting there before dawn to ensure their placement in The Queue. So let's take you through some of the best images from those waiting to get in to the All England Club today! Max Mathews/The Athletic It won't be long at all until we see some tennis. 10 minutes, in fact, until the scheduled start of the day's play. Stick around!

🐐Messi pulls off another out-of-this-world moment

The Argentine star scored a brace in Inter Miami's victory over Montreal and left a signature goal. Years will pass and Messi's ability to face opponents, dodge them and end up scoring will still be surprising. He received the ball more than 40 meters from the goal and started the show. He dribbled past up to four players, with the ball stitched to his foot and ended up blasting the Montreal goalkeeper to score Inter Miami's fourth. Pure Leo Messi.
