Livi's attacking style can reap rewards, says McGowan
Ryan McGowan insists Livingston can replicate their attacking Championship form in the top flight. David Martindale's men start life back in the Premiership against Kilmarnock on Saturday and defender McGowan thinks opposition fans might be surprised by Livi's style this season. "The gaffer said it publicly before, sometimes when you're in the top flight it's just more survival and worrying about what other teams are going to do to you instead of possibly what you can do to hurt them and get points," said McGowan. "That's what we did as a club last season. It was kind of a reset and we controlled most of the ball. We played pretty good football for probably 90% of the season last year and that's something we want to take into this season. "If you've watched our cup games so far, it will probably be a little bit of a different Livingston to what was in the Premiership in years gone by. "It's up to us as players to really put to work what we're doing during the week into games and hopefully that gets us points and gets us up the league. "We play a different kind of style from the team that got relegated a couple of seasons ago, but it's one that we believe we will be successful with and fingers crossed that happens."

Jack Grieves ready to push for competitive first-team action after Deportivo winner
Jack Grieves believes he is ready to contribute to the Watford first team this season after scoring the only goal in Wednesday's pre-season win over Deportivo La Coruna. Grieves, 20, who was on loan at Ross County in Scotland last season, started the game as the advanced midfielder in Paulo Pezzolano's 4-2-3-1 system. He produced some nifty footwork and a calm finish to net at the Vicarage Road end and is hoping to use that goal to convince Pezzolano he is ready for Championship action. More: Sign up for the Watford Observer Fantasy EFL League Grieves told the club site: "It's just over a week now until the start of the season, so obviously it's nice to be back here in front of the fans and get some good minutes under our belt. "We got it right in that situation and luckily the ball fell to me from Luca [Kjerrumgaard] and I managed to put it in the back of the net. "It's nice to have that moment and hopefully I can take that into the season now. "I try my best to get around the pitch and do what I can. I like to think that I have got a bit of an engine and I can press. "I get about the pitch as much as possible and help my team out." More: Pezzolano on Deportivo win, the role of his number 10 and preparing for Charlton Grieves made 25 appearance for Ross County as they were relegated from the Scottish Premiership last season and regards his time away as important to his development as a person as well as a player. He said: "I gained some good experience up in Scotland but it's nice to be back now and taking what I've learnt from that year into pre-season. "There was a lot of growing up and learning a different side of the game."
