Motherwell are ready for Rangers, says midfield ace
Callum Slattery says the Steelmen are as prepared as they can be Callum Slattery says Motherwell are ready for the start of the Premiership season, and are eager to get going in their opener against Rangers. Slattery set up Apostolos Stamatelopoulos' equaliser in the 1-1 draw at home to 2 Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin on Friday night in what he says was a testing game. But the midfielder reckons coming up against the German cracks showed how to deal with challenging periods in games when Motherwell won't have the ball. Slattery, 26, said: 'I think we're as prepared as we can be and we're ready. 'We feel like we've got better in each game and showing what the manager wants. I feel like after the cup games that tonight's friendly was real test for us, in terms of how we want to play, and what games are going to be like when it is tough for periods. 'We're really excited for the start of the season and I think we're in a good spot. 'It was good to play in, a really tough test for us, and they're a very fantastic side. 'We knew, going into the game, that they were going to be good, and that it would be a good test for us. 'I think it was, to be honest, I think it was a really good game. The atmosphere and the football played was brilliant.' Slattery added: 'I'd say it was a similar test in terms of the football played, them playing out from the back and causing us a few problems here and there – but that's what we're going to probably face against Rangers. 'They're a good side. They strung some passes together and caused us some problems at times, but I thought the lads were brilliant. 'I thought we held a good account of ourselves and it was a really good game.' Slattery hopes to forge a fruitful partnership with Australian striker Stamatelopoulos, and wants to enjoy his football. He said: 'I was really pleased [to set up the goal]. Since the start of the season me and him, I've said I'll try to put him in as much as I can so he can get the goals. 'He was in the right area and I managed to put it in, so I'm really pleased. 'It's the start of a new season, the injury [last year] is way behind me now. I managed to get a good run at the end of last season, but this is a new season and I just want to play my football and enjoy it.'

Can Sparrow end debut season as Well's top scorer?
Wing-back Tom Sparrow is eyeing a goal in Dingwall on Sunday to end his debut season with Motherwell as the club's top scorer. The 22-year-old Welshman is tied on six goals for the campaign with midfielder Callum Slattery and forward Tawanda to Sunday's season-ending game at Ross County, Sparrow is well award Slattery "might have something to say about" his attempts to outdo him in the scoring added: "We are both on six but we will see what happens in Dingwall. But that would be nice."He will tell you that he's played a lot less games than me. I will tell you that he plays higher up the pitch than me but he's been on fire so if he finishes top then there will be no complaints from me."It's not something I go into games massively thinking about. My position is more about defending first and foremost and then getting up and supporting play and getting in and around when I can."But as the season has gone on, I have felt more confident that I can contribute in that and it's definitely something I want to take into next season."Instructions from recently-appointed manager Michael Wimmer, who took charge in February, have helped the goals goal for Sparrow, who has three in nine games."Quite early on he noticed that I hang a bit wider in build-up play and goals are scored at the back post and getting in nice and narrow," he said."It's something we spoke about and it's worked a couple of times, and I had another couple of chances where I probably should have scored in that position. So I will keep that going."

'O'Donnell & Slattery shine as Miller signs off in style'
We asked for your views on Motherwell's 3-0 win against what some of you said:Stephen: I thought Luke Armstrong looked fit, strong and powerful when he came on. He was a real menace to Kilmarnock's back line, which was rewarded with two good goals. Fingers crossed we can keep him into next season. Regarding Lennon Miller, he has been a good player for Motherwell, but I think it is best for all parties involved that he leaves to advance his career and provide Michael Wimmer with added cash to carry out the annual rebuild of our squad. Between those on loan and out of contract, we may lose half of the first team this Three good goals against ten men, which helped. Yet again, Callum Slattery was the best player, we need to build a team around him for next season. We do need some players with speed and guile, and robust A shaky first half for Motherwell, struggled in the final third. Second half, Armstrong made a huge difference up top. Stephen O'Donnell and Slattery were brilliant from the back to attack. Amazing send off for Some good first-touch football, and with a man advantage, always looked like scoring. Now time for a clear out and bring in some quality, rather than A very welcome win to end our home season. Killie struggled with a red card and their manager situation, but we eventually got the job done. Miller deserves the accolades, and he's a fantastic example for other young players, as well as parents, when you think about how his Dad has helped him. I really hope we do some decent business in the summer, to replace Miller and also to get a striker who'll get us 20 goals a season.D: A sluggish first half where we had most of the possession but didn't make it count in the final third, red card for Killie absolutely correct, however and thereafter we controlled the game when we have notoriously struggled against 10 men over the years. The introduction of Armstrong for Harry Paton was a masterstroke, going two up front and dominating the second half, and scoring three good quality goals. Look forward to the summer and the recruitment from Wimmer.
