Man Utd set cut-price Tyrell Malacia transfer fee for Celtic as Ruben Amorim exchange sparks desperate PSR plan
Celtic have been told the bargain price Manchester United would accept for out of favour full back Tyrell Malacia.
The Scottish Premiership champions has been on the hunt for left-back Malacia in the winter window after failing to get bring Kieran Tierney in early from Arsenal despite having a pre-contract agreement in place.
And after Greg Taylor's departure for PAOK it's a similar story for Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers as he looks for a left-back with towering Dutch defender Justin de Haas reportedly on agenda with Famalicao holding a £3million valuation.
But Malacia now appears to be available for a similar fee after PSV Eindhoven - who the Dutch international joined over the Hoops - failed to trigger an option to buy in the 25-year-old's deal.
before reporting for pre-season training to allow the defender to search for a new club.
Malacia signed from Feyenoord for around £13million four years ago but has struggled to make an impact at Old Trafford.
The Manchester Evening News has revealed that signed a four-year contract at Old Trafford back in 2022, United need to sell him for £3.22million to avoid a loss under the profit and sustainability rules (PSR) with the club willing to accept a lowball bid as they are "unlikely to inundated with offers."
There appears to be little way back for Malacia at the Red Devils following a public back and forth with boss Ruben Amorim.
In January - shortly before his exit for the Eredvisie -Amorim admitted he didn't believe the full-back could fit into his system.
He said: "A player like him is a full-back. He played with the national team outside and inside, but sometimes in this system, sometimes it's hard for him because he's not so offensive.
"He can play as one of the three defenders, if we have more possession and more control of the games. It's a really difficult context for him."
And just days later after returning to the Netherlands - where he came through the youth ranks at Feyenoord - Malacia took a cheeky dig back declaring he was "finally playing good football again."

Midfielder Luke McCowan opened the scoring for the Scottish champions in the inaugural Cork Super Cup game in Ireland in the 28th minute with a sweet strike from just inside the box but a mix-up in the Hoops defence in the 67th minute, with interval substitute Welsh culpable, led to an equaliser from Matthew Murray. There was more misery for the 25-year-old centre-back, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Belgian side Mechelen, when he had to go off with his arm strapped up to protect yet another shoulder problem. Rodgers described the match against the League of Ireland outfit at Pairc Ui Chaoimh as a 'really good exercise' for his side, which was far from full strength and which was much changed by the final whistle. The Northern Irishman said: 'First half, really good. We obviously changed the team and a lot of the young players in the second half will have learned from that. 'We didn't quite keep the ball so well and gave up the ball too cheaply. 'But overall, still find that Celtic mentality to keep going right to the very end and I've always said there's never a friendly when you play for Celtic. It's always a test because every team will want to always beat you. 'So we kept going right to the very end and Colby, who's been excellent, got the winning goal.' Celtic made it two wins out of two in pre-season after a win against Queen's Park last Friday and will head off to Portugal to continue their preparation for the upcoming campaign. Rodgers said: 'Obviously come the weekend, the international players will be back involved in the game (against Estrela da Amadora). 'But the start to the pre-season has been really good and we've got to continue working very, very hard. I think that's the nature of pre-season. 'There's no let-up, there's nothing easy, got to work to build that foundation of fitness and then we'll be, as I said, fully prepared, but we're looking forward to Portugal.' Meanwhile, Celtic announced Gustaf Lagerbielke has joined Braga on a permanent transfer. The 25-year-old Sweden defender joined the Parkhead club from Elfsborg in 2023 but spent last season on loan at Twente in the Netherlands.

Miedema: Netherlands need to be at best to beat England
Vivianne Miedema is under no illusion that the Netherlands will still need to be at their best to get a result against England despite their opponents' recent struggles. The Netherlands won their opening match 3-0 against Wales, with all-time WSL scorer Miedema bagging the first goal - the 100th international goal of her career. But the Lionesses looked poor against France as they fell to 2-1 defeat at Stadion Letzigrund. However, Miedema is confident they will still prove a tough test for her side with England knowing a defeat will end their Euros defence. 'If you come up against a team like France, they have so much quality as well, so I'm not necessarily surprised that France beat England because they can beat anyone on their day,' she explained. 'It's also too readily said that, 'Oh England can't play football anymore,' because that's obviously not the case. 'They've got so much quality on the pitch and within their whole squad and I'm pretty sure they've not forgotten how to play football. 'We know that we need to be at our best tomorrow to get a result and that's the exciting thing about being at a Euros to play teams like England and in games like these.' It was a challenge that did not take them out of second gear, but while England have stuttered, they offer plenty of threats to a Netherlands side who have become familiar opposition. '[I expect] a really difficult game. Obviously we know their qualities and I think they know ours. It could be a big technical game but it comes down to who has the better day,' said Miedema. 'Looking at how we started the tournament, we can get a lot of confidence out of that game, but we also know to beat England we need to do a lot better than that.' Miedema is familiar with much of the England team having played alongside or against many in the Women's Super League during spells at Arsenal and Manchester City. Notably, manager Sarina Wiegman coached Miedema and many of her current teammates to glory at Euro 2017 with the Dutch striker able to recognise her influence on the England squad. 'I can definitely [see her influence] in their playing style. Their focus has become more and more possessional in a way,' she explained. 'They are basically playing in a way that we did when she was our head coach.' It brings an added dimension to the game, if there were not enough already, as Wiegman's current England assistant Arjan Veurink will return to the Dutch set-up as manager after the tournament. But while Veurink and Wiegman will undoubtedly have similar thought processes from their time together, current Dutch manager Andries Jonker also knows the England coach well, with Miedema able to spot similarities there too. It means that fans of both the Netherlands and England can expect entertaining football on Wednesday as friendships get cast aside as the Netherlands chase three points that will send them to the quarter-finals. 'Both of them are crazy about football,' said Miedema. 'I can give them a call at 3am in the morning if I want to discuss something. 'Both of them want to see beautiful football being played.'
