Bangalore-Hosur flyover lateral shift: What led to the crisis? Collector flags Bengaluru's common problem; Alternate routes shared for travellers
What caused the damage?
District Collector C Dinesh Kumar inspected the flyover on Sunday and said the damage happened due to heavy traffic pressure on the bridge. The problem lies in the damaged bearings, parts that connect and support the structure.
According to TOI, he said, 'The damaged bearings will be replaced promptly. After that, the flyover will be monitored for 48 hours. Only light vehicles will be allowed on it if there is no further damage.'
How is traffic being managed?
With the expressway closed, all vehicles going towards Bengaluru have been stopped. Officials from the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) are working on alternative routes to manage the flow.

Why this flyover matters
Opened in 2010, the Hosur elevated road carries nearly 50,000 vehicles every day. It's a key link between Chennai and Bengaluru, especially important for those commuting to Electronics City, one of Bengaluru's major IT hubs. The flyover was built to ease traffic pressure on this busy corridor.
Authorities are now working urgently to fix the issue and avoid further risks.

‘He has been humiliated by….' claims Elon Musk's former friend amidst renewed tensions with Trump
Amidst renewed tensions between President Donald Trump and Tesla CEO Elon Musk, Philip Low, a former friend of Musk said that 'He has been humiliated', and would do everything he could to damage President Trump. In an interview with Politico, Low – an award-winning neuroscientist said 'I've had my share of blowouts with Elon over the years,' adding further 'Knowing Elon the way I know him, I do think he's going to do everything to damage the president.' Earlier this week, Musk has once again publicly criticised the Trump administration's One Big Beautiful Bill saying it would destroy millions of jobs in America and 'cause immense strategic harm to our country.' Elon Musk and Philip Low became close friends after meeting at a social event in Paris in 2011, the publication reports. Their friendship grew through late-night hangouts in Los Angeles, where Musk was living at the time. They often attended each other's parties, texted regularly, and shared personal stories. Musk later showed interest in Low's company, NeuroVigil, which had developed a non-invasive brain monitoring device used to detect conditions like sleep apnea and neurological disorders. He invested in the company during a 2015 funding round and also joined its advisory board. By then, Low had already made a name for himself as a young innovator, having launched a NASA satellite lab and demonstrated how his technology could help translate Stephen Hawking's brain signals into speech. The whole idea that Elon is going to be on his side and help woo Congress and invest in election campaigns for right-wing judges — Elon might do all of that, but deep down, it's over.' Low said that Trump, unlike Elon Musk, 'tends to make up with his former sparring partners like [Steve] Bannon a bit more easily,' even though the former president is also known for holding grudges and bringing up old issues. Elon Musk responds to Trump's 'deport' remarks In another news, the tech billionaire responded to Trump's 'deport Musk' remarks. Replying to one such clip shared by X user DogeDesigner, the Tesla CEO said 'So tempting to escalate this. So, so tempting. But I will refrain for now'. In the video, a reporter asked Trump if he is going to deport Musk. To this, Trump replied 'We'll have to take a look. We might have to put DOGE on Elon. You know what DOGE is? The monster that might have to go back and eat Elon. Wouldn't that be terrible? He gets a lot of subsidies.'

New Delhi: After Sahibabad RRTS station, electric vehicle (EV) charging stations have now been installed at Guldhar and Duhai Namo Bharat stations along the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor. The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), which is implementing the corridor, plans to expand e-vehicle charging facilities at other stations as well. "With Guldhar and Duhai added, the total number of EV charging stations on the corridor has increased to three. These new fast-charging stations will offer improved and quicker charging," said an NCRTC official, adding that expansion at other stations is also underway. Each fast charger supports 50 kW high-voltage charging, enabling four-wheelers to charge up to 80% in just 30 minutes. Solar plants are being installed at all elevated stations and depots, targeting generation of about 11 MW of renewable energy. A 55-km stretch from New Ashok Nagar (Delhi) to Meerut South, comprising 11 stations, is already operational, with trial runs ongoing on the remaining corridor.
