Three Spanish players to watch in the Euro 2025 final
With one game left of Euro 2025, Spain are in a position to replicate a feat only achieved once in the last 18 years: they can become European champions while already being queens of the world. On paper, they're the favourites. They secured that World Cup trophy after defeating England in the final, and this is a Spain side which has only strengthened since then. But, The Lionesses are a side who have made a habit of stubbornly refusing to lose. This is a clash between a finely tuned footballing machine and a side which never knows when they're beaten. Make no mistake: Spain will have to be at their best if they're to win, and they'll need their stars to be at the top of their game. With that in mind, here are three Spanish players to watch out for at the final of Euro 2025. Alexia Putellas The 31-year-old Barcelona captain has been instrumental throughout the tournament, as a critical goal-scorer and playmaker who has brought La Roja to their first ever Euro final. Creating 18 chances and more combined goals and assists than any other player, she has been one of the competition's most effective midfielders. All three of her goals came during the group stage, in back-to-back dominating displays over Portugal and Belgium, earning her Player of the Match in both fixtures. The two-time Ballon d'Or winner has proven herself indispensable to Spain's technical and tactical style of play, and is a standout figure heading into the final. Patri Guijarro Widely recognised by her teammates and Spain's manager Montse Tomé to be one of the most underrated players of the tournament (and, indeed, in world football), Patri Guijarro has been essential to Spain's Euro 2025 campaign. Playing a pivotal role as a goal-scorer and as a playmaker, her high-pressing line has been crucial to Spain's attacking play this tournament. In the semi-final against Germany, she topped the stats as the player with the most touches, the most recoveries and the most passes completed. Her presence on the pitch, both offensively and defensively has made her indispensable to the team, and her consistency will be a significant asset to Spain on the biggest stage. Aitana Bonmatí The heroine of the semi-final, Aitana Bonmatí delivered when it mattered most and scored in the final moments of extra time to rescue Spain from a penalty shootout against Germany. A vital presence in Spain's midfield, the most recent Ballon d'Or winner produced a performance against Germany that reminded everyone why she is regarded to be the best player in the world. Her positioning, technical prowess, and composure under pressure make her a constant threat to any opposition team. At only 27, she has accumulated nearly 10 years of professional experience and her capacity to disrupt opposition flow could pose a serious challenge to The Lionesses. The final of Euro 2025 will kick off at 18:00 CET (17:00 GMT) on Sunday 27th July at St. Jakob-Park in Basel.

Kessié heading to Europe: Al-Ahli ready to let their Ivorian star go Already targeted by Fiorentina, who are looking to strengthen their midfield, Kessié now finds himself at the center of a fierce battle between several European clubs. Leeds have entered into direct competition with the Italian club, hoping to convince the player to join the English Championship. The Al-Ahli management, for their part, are said to be open to a transfer, provided a financially satisfactory agreement is reached, particularly regarding the player's annual salary.
