Aaron Rodgers had honorable reason to skip Big Night AHT in Pittsburgh
One notable absence from the show was none other than four-time MVP Aaron Rodgers — who has been tied to the Pittsburgh Steelers since the start of free agency.

It was rumored that Rodgers would do a favor for his close friend McAfee and announce his decision to play for the Steelers at the show — and it's precisely this rumor that ruffled Rodgers' feathers.
When Rodgers first acknowledged Big Night AHT on Thursday's episode of The Pat McAfee Show, he kept it short and sweet:
'I'm sorry I couldn't make it [to Big Night AHT]. I really wanted to be there.'
McAfee then quickly jumped in to counter his friend's modesty:
'[Rodgers] told me, he was like, 'Could you imagine if I go in there? I'd be the biggest [expletive] of all time. The amount of time that you put into this, and all the people that you have, and then I show up [to steal the spotlight].''

Rodgers joked that the conversation he had with McAfee should've been kept private — but his decision to skip Big Night AHT to keep all eyes on the glamour of the show itself was truly honorable.

Steelers Players 'Bite Their Tongues' About Tomlin Truth?
Steelers Players 'Bite Their Tongues' About Tomlin Truth? originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Pittsburgh Steelers have engineered a notable number of star-quality roster shakeup this offseason. To wit ... Advertisement Swapping out short-tempered receiver George Pickens for D.K. Metcalf in trade, signing 41-year-old free agent quarterback Aaron Rodgers, and bolstering the depth chart by trading for Pro Bowlers Jalen Ramsey and Jonnu Smith all headline the team's headline-grabbing moves. One constant that remains with the organization - as it has for the past 18 seasons - is head coach Mike Tomlin. The one-time Super Bowl champion coach has notoriously never had a losing season in his tenure with the Steelers, leading most media and casual fans to believe in his expertise and assume that he is someone players enjoy working with. CBS Sports' Aditi Kinkhabwala says some former players would say otherwise. Advertisement "I'll just say this without violating anybody's trust," Kinkhabwala said during an incendiary radio comment with Pittsburgh's 93.7 The Fan. "There are many, many, many former players that I have spoken to that have bitten their tongues about their experience with him.'' Wow. We will concede that there are those who gloss over the foibles of this team because of the "no losing,'' and because of Tomlin's powerful reputation with the national media. But back-biting in the locker room to the point that players are willing to whisper their negative feelings to reporters? Not great. Even still, we bet the Steelers and Tomlin won't go their own ways in any other manner other than a mutual parting ... maybe steered by Tomlin. There might be a point when a "change of scenery'' is viewed as needed. Advertisement And yet one report claims the team is "out of patience" when it comes to Tomlin and his playoff success. ... which we get. Pittsburgh is 0-5 in the postseason since 2018. And in 2024? The Steelers lost their last five games of the season last year, including the Wild Card round. Tomlin signed a three-year contract extension with the Steelers last offseason. ... but that doesn't mean everybody - fans and even some players, past and maybe present - have to like it. Steelers send T.J. Watt to Patriots for standout safety in bold trade prediction
T.J. Watt trade speculation is reaching an all-time high — when analysts aren't predicting if he'll re-sign with the Steelers, they're predicting where he'll land next. Bleacher Report's Brent Sobleski recently predicted four trade packages for Watt — but arguably the most surprising sees Pittsburgh send their star defender to the Patriots for a 2026 second-round pick, a 2027 third-round pick, and former first-round safety Jabrill Peppers. "Because the Patriots are still in transition, they can send veteran safety Jabrill Peppers back in return," Sobleski wrote. "They're unlikely to give up a future first-rounder, though. Pittsburgh still has DeShon Elliott and Juan Thornhill along the back line, but Peppers can be used as a defensive chess piece to help offset the loss of Minkah Fitzpatrick." It almost feels criminal, even in a trade prediction, to suggest the Steelers would trade away Watt for anything less than a first-round pick. But considering the shocking George Pickens' and Minkah Fitzpatrick's packages this offseason, anything is possible. Adam Schefter reported that while the Steelers aren't willing to deal their superstar defender, outside trade interest in Watt is expected to increase following the recent acquisitions of Jalen Ramsey and Jonnu Smith. It's unlikely Pittsburgh entertains any trade offers for Watt, but as negotiations drag on, one has to wonder — is a 30-year-old edge rusher, potentially exiting his prime, worth over $40 million per year? Steelers Could Find Defensive Depth with Home-Grown Talent
Steelers Could Find Defensive Depth with Home-Grown Talent originally appeared on Athlon Sports. As the Pittsburgh Steelers and general manager Omar Khan continue to make moves to improve the team this summer, they find themselves short a safety. Advertisement Khan orchestrated a trade with the Miami Dolphins to bring in corner Jalen Ramsey and tight end Jonnu Smith, while sending Minkah Fitzpatrick back to Miami. That means Fitzpatrick's roster spot in the safety room must be filled, and there is a local option that could be a good fit. Jordan Whitehead played at Central Valley High School in Monaca, Pennsylvania and went to Pitt to play collegiately before being selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the fourth round in 2018. Whitehead is now a free agent, but coming off a partially torn pectoral suffered in Week 12 last season that kept him out until Week 17. He was also in a car accident in early January that kept him out of the team's Wild Card loss to the Washington Commanders. Advertisement The former Pitt Panther originally played with the Bucs through 2021 before leaving for the Jets in free agency. He returned to Tampa Bay as a free agent last offseason, but failed to impress. Overall, across 105 games with 101 starts in the NFL over seven seasons, Whitehead has registered 557 total tackles with 394 solo and 31 for loss with 2.5 sacks and seven QB hits. He's added 11 interceptions, a pair of forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. As of now, DeShon Elliott and Juan Thornhill are the starting safeties for Pittsburgh, with rookie Sebastian Castro, Quindell Johnson and Miles Killebrew behind them. Khan would certainly like to add some veteran depth to the room.
