"Citadel" Franchise Faces Uncertain Future at Amazon
"Citadel", Amazon MGM's spy series executive produced by Joe and Anthony Russo's AGBO, has hit more turbulence.
The expensive series, which was positioned as a flagship show with a global reach, has a history of ballooning budgets and creative strife but still managed to snag a second season order. Now, that season is in flux.
Multiple sources say that Amazon MGM is pushing the show from a planned fall 2025 release to a spring 2026 debut.
Additionally, the continuation of all Citadel spinoff series are on hold at least until the second season is released if not indefinitely.
All this stems from Amazon MGM being unhappy with what they have seen so far of season two, according to sources.
An insider added the company had not yet set a date for the show's return.
As initially conceived, Citadel was to have multiple international spinoff series to accompany the English-language main title, which stars Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra Jonas as globe-trotting spies.
The spinoffs have included Italy's "Citadel: Diana" and India's "Citadel: Honey Bunny", both of which have performed well for the global platform in their local markets.
However, the development of any spinoffs has been put on hold as the second season of the flagship series gets fine-tuned.
Shooting for season two wrapped in late November last year.
"Citadel" has been a troubled series from the jump — when reshoots, two competing cuts and crew defections on the first season added $75 million to the already $160 million budget.
At the time, the show became the second most expensive series ever made, only falling behind fellow Amazon title Rings of Power, the Lord of the Rings TV series.
Nonetheless, it was renewed for a second season ahead of the first season's April 2023 premiere.
With the latest setback, insiders question if this is the end for "Citadel" a show that was championed by former Amazon MGM head Jennifer Salke.
She first approached the Russo Bros. with the idea for Citadel as they were winding down their first sting in the Marvel Universe. It was supposed to be Amazon's answer to James Bond.
Now Amazon is fully behind the wheel of the Astin Martin after closing a deal for creative control earlier this month. Adding to the show's woes is Salke's abrupt ouster, which caught most inside the company by surprise Thursday.
While the head of TV Vernon Sanders will now be overseeing the show, it's never good to lose a top executive support beam.

Ahmed El Fishawy to Star in Film "Saffah Al-Tagamoa"
Yara Sameh Egyptian actor Ahmed El Fishawy is attached to star in the film "The Fifth Settlement Murderer" ("Saffah Al-Tagamoa"), where he plays Karim Selim, known in the media as the Saffah Al-Tagamoa. El Fishawy announced the news on social media, alongside sharing the poster of the film. "Wait for Karim in 'Saffah Al-Tagamoa," a film written and directed by Mohamed Salah Al-Azab and produced by Ahmed El Sobky," he wrote on Instagram . This is the second project to be developed about the murderer. In June 2024, Azab, the scribe of the crime TV series "Saffah Al Giza", is penning the series. The 8-episode show is produced by Ahmed El Sobky and has actor Hassan El Raddad lined up to take the lead role. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Ahmad AlFishawy (@fishawyofficial) Dubbed "the Fifth Settlement Murderer", in connection with a luxurious gated community on the outskirts of Cairo where he lived and killed his victims, a 36-year-old man, named Karim Selim, holder of a US passport, admitted during interrogation that he killed an unidentified number of women, other than the three whose bodies were discovered earlier this month. In the following weeks, the bodies of the women were discovered separately, each unclothed in deserted areas in provinces outside Cairo, as their clothes were extracted in other faraway areas afterward. The autopsy reports suggest that the three women were killed by the same person, as all showed similar signs of torture, including strangulation and flogging wounds. The evidence against the perpetrator also included a fingerprint on one of the women's clothes. Laboratory tests of the components of their stomach and blood further indicated narcotics in their system. Following investigations and the examination of CCTV footage in the areas leading to the location of the bodies, security forces managed to identify and apprehend the suspect. The authorities confiscated two mobile phones and a laptop belonging to him on which he videotaped the incidents committed inside a soundproof room at his flat allocated for his practices. The videos in question showed him performing intercourse with his victims after they died. During interrogation, the suspect confessed that he knew his victims online, some of whom he claimed were courtesans. The suspect asked them to come over to his home ,where he performed unusual sexual activities with them before he forced the women to consume drugs and killed them. The suspect acquired a college degree from the most prestigious university in Egypt, the American University in Cairo, and had worked as a teacher at an international school before he quit his job. He created a TikTok channel where he taught American English. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle News "Tensions Escalate: Iran Probes Allegations of Indian Tech Collaboration with Israeli Intelligence" Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks Arts & Culture Hawass Foundation Launches 1st Course to Teach Ancient Egyptian Language

Billie Eilish and James Cameron Team Up for 3D Project
Yara Sameh Billie Eilish is teaming up with director James Cameron on a project shot in 3D. Eilish announced the collaboration during her concert in Manchester on Sunday evening. While she was relatively coy about what the project would be, the pop star did confirm that she's filming something that requires her to be in the same outfit across her four nights at Co-op Live, where Cameron was in the audience. More details will emerge in the coming months about where the footage will end up — fans on social media were speculating that it could be a documentary, film, or even music video. 'So you may have noticed that there are more cameras than usual in here,' Eilish told the crowd. 'Basically, I can't say much about it but what I can say is that I'm working on something very, very special with somebody named James Cameron and it's going to be in 3D. So, take that as you will and these four shows here in Manchester, you and me are part of a thing that I am making with him. He's in this audience somewhere, just saying. So don't mind that, and also I'll probably be wearing this exact outfit for like four days in a row.' In the past, Eilish has released several films, including the 2021 documentary 'Billie Eilish: The World's a Little Blurry' and the concert film 'Happier Than Ever: A Love Letter to Los Angeles.' She is currently on a world tour in support of her third album 'Hit Me Hard and Soft,' which was released last year. Eilish kicked off the trek in September 2024, touching down in North America and Australia before heading over to Europe. Following her shows in Manchester, she'll perform in Japan before circling back to the United States where she'll conclude on November 23 at San Francisco's Chase Center. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle News "Tensions Escalate: Iran Probes Allegations of Indian Tech Collaboration with Israeli Intelligence" Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks

"Superman" Crosses $400 Million at Global Box Office
Yara Sameh 'Superman,' the newly rebooted comic book adventure starring David Corenswet as the Man of Steel, continues to rule the worldwide box office, reaching $406 million after two weekends of release. Those ticket sales include $171.8 million overseas and $235 million from the North American market. Turnout remains slower than expected at the international box office, where 'Superman' added $45.2 million in its second weekend. Outsized global appeal is vital because the comic book reboot has the lofty goal of launching a new phase of superhero movies for the Warner Bros.-backed DC Studios. Two interconnected spinoffs, 'Supergirl' and 'Clayface,' will land in 2026, while a new 'Wonder Woman' movie is in the works. Furthermore, 'Superman' will face steep competition next weekend as another comic book adventure, Disney and Marvel's 'The Fantastic Four,' opens in theaters. Meanwhile, Universal's 'Jurassic World Rebirth' had another huge showing with $40.2 million from 82 overseas territories in its third weekend of release. So far, the prehistoric tentpole has earned a towering $371 million internationally and $647 million globally. The dinosaur reboot, starring Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey and Mahershala Ali, is one of only three Hollywood films to surpass the $600 million mark this year, the others being 'Lilo & Stitch' ($1.008 billion) and 'A Minecraft Movie' ($955 million). However, the latest 'Jurassic' has T-rex-sized footprints to fill at the box office since the prior sequel trilogy, led by Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, each grossed $1 billion globally. In terms of newcomers, Paramount's animated 'Smurfs' musical collected $22.6 million from 58 markets. Along with a domestic debut of $11 million, the family film has earned $36 million worldwide to date. It's an underwhelming start for the $58 million-budgeted film, which will likely drive consumer product sales even if the film fails to launch a new cinematic universe. Top-earning territories include France ($3.7 million), the United Kingdom ($1.7 million), and Brazil ($1.6 million). Rihanna leads the voice cast of 'Smurfs' as Smurfette alongside the sprawling ensemble of James Corden, Nick Offerman, Natasha Lyonne, Sandra Oh, Jimmy Kimmel, Octavia Spencer, and John Goodman. Another new release, Sony's R-rated 'I Know What You Did Last Summer,' launched to $11.6 million from 58 markets. The slasher sequel, which brought together the stars of the original 1998 film, Freddie Prinze Jr. and Jennifer Love Hewitt, with newcomers Madelyn Cline and Chase Sui-Wonders, debuted in North America with $13 million for a global start of $24.6 million. Although nostalgia isn't as strong as Sony might have expected when rebooting the decades-old franchise, the studio spent a modest $18 million to produce the film, meaning there isn't a high bar to clear in terms of profitability. In another box office milestone, Apple's 'F1: The Movie' has revved past the $450 million mark globally. So far, the $250 million-budgeted film has collected a huge $307.2 million internationally and $460.8 million worldwide. At this point, 'F1' has earned more in just overseas markets than any of Apple's prior movies — including Martin Scorsese's 'Killers of the Flower Moon' ($158 million worldwide) and Ridley Scott's 'Napoleon' ($221 million) — have generated in their entire global box office runs. It's a mighty achievement for an original tentpole that's aimed at adult audiences as well as a testament to Pitt's star power and the popularity of the Formula One motorsport. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle News "Tensions Escalate: Iran Probes Allegations of Indian Tech Collaboration with Israeli Intelligence" Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks
