In 10-15 years India's aviation industry has potential to evolve into a 10 billion dollar market by domestically manufacturing avionics, structural components and electronics. With 2,200 aircraft orders expected to reach India, there is unprecedented scope of growth in the sector. "It's just the beginning of the aviation boom in India. Manufacturing and trade are critical components of the vision of making India grow further in the sector," said Ananth Narayanan, Senior Vice President & Chief Industry Officer, Invest India.
Stating Infrastructure as one of the key growth drivers in India, Narayanan added that connectivity is a crucial factor that foreign investors often look for, before investing in India. There are high frequency indicators of consumption and finally the Indian economy is growing at scale. "About 75 to 80 percent of Indian consumption comes from 200 cities. And this will further grow as urbanization would jump by 40 to 50 percent. We want to be present in every city which is fostering this growth as connectivity improves over time," said Patu Keswani, Chairman and MD, Lemon Tree Hotels.
"Wherever we have put up a hotel within half an hour of range from an airport, we have seen material difference in uptick of booking," Keswani added.
Consumption of airline seats has grown 13 percent in the last five years. Hotel capacities have grown 16 percent in the last ten years. "In the next four years, tailwinds will lead to a discretionary change in tourism consumption in India. We estimate around 100 millions would be travelling outside India, and through our loyalty programme, we aim to leverage the opportunity, Keshwani explained. India's airlines continue to achieve double-digit growth, with 240 million passengers flying annually—surpassing the total population of most countries worldwide.
Aspirations do not lie in top five to six cities, it resides in Tier II, III, IV and beyond. "We have moved from having 5 to 50 centers in India and next year we might reach 100 branch centers because the aspirational push in India is coming from across the country and not only lies in the top metros," said Radhika Gupta, MD & CEO, Edelweiss Asset Management Limited.
"When you want to deliver financial products you have to be present on the ground. In order to make capital market products or financial products accessible, infrastructure and connectivity of geographies play a crucial role. Inflows of both foreign and domestic capital are dependent on on-ground developments such as factories, offices, etc. And these are further bolstered by seamless connectivity. Wherever there is connectivity there is scope of development," Gupta added.
Indian aviation is realizing the enormous potential of a market of 1.4 billion people as it catalyzes growth in tourism and investment that is critical to India's national development.
The panelists were speaking at the 81st Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. The panel examined the impact of aviation and how it contributes to social and economic development as a force.

ThyssenKrupp Modernizes Hot Rolled Strip Mill

Via Metal Miner German flats producer ThyssenKrupp Steel recently commissioned a modernized strip mill at its main site in Duisburg as well as new upstream equipment. On July 4, the steel industry titan released a statement detailing that the modernized hot rolled strip mill will be able to roll 3.1 million metric tons of hot rolled coil in widths of 900-1,600mm and in 1.2-9mm gauges. 'The new units are located at the interface between upstream operations and hot strip production, making them a core feature of the integrated production network in the northern part of Duisburg,' the company noted. 'The reconfiguration that has now been completed will not only raise quality by increasing casting and rolling capacities, but will also improve capacity utilization of the upstream basic oxygen steelmaking plant 1.' Further upstream, TKS has commissioned a new continuous caster to produce slab in a 257mm gauge and in 900-1,800mm widths, as well as in lengths exceeding 35 meters. The German company stated that the walking beam furnace will be able to handle 380 metric tons per hour for cold application and 560 metric tons per hour for direct application. ThyssenKrupp officials noted that investment in the modernization of the hot strip mill and the acquisition of new equipment totaled €800 million ($942 million). According to the release, 'All new systems are characterized by a high degree of automation and state-of-the-art control systems, for example, enabling real-time monitoring of the production press through the use of digital twins.' Back in November, ThyssenKrupp announced plans to cut its workforce and production capacities, citing structural changes in the European market as well as a need to improve productivity and operating efficiency. As a steel industry leader, the firm also referenced its desire to achieve a more competitive cost level. According to information from the company, the personal cuts entail reducing positions by about 40%, bringing the total of 27,000 positions down to 11,000. The group also plans to reduce its annual production capacity by 23% from the current 11.5 million metric tons per year to a future target dispatch level of 8.7-9 million metric tons. It is likewise important to note that a Czech holding company, EP Corporate Group, acquired a 20% stake in TKS in 2024. APi Group (APG): A Bull Case Theory

We came across a bullish thesis on APi Group on Kairos Research's Substack. As of 30ᵗʰ June, API Group's share was trading at $50.31. APG's trailing and forward P/E were 83.39 and 23.88 respectively according to Yahoo Finance. A team of workers wearing white hardhani and safety goggles assembling a complex HVAC system. API Group (APG) has seen significant growth since being pitched last November, with the stock up about 43% and 55% from the cost basis of $32.75 per share. The company continues to improve incrementally, raising financial targets and returning cash to shareholders. APG is a business services company focused on acquiring and growing compliance-driven testing, inspection, and service businesses, with a strong presence in fire safety, elevators, escalators, and security system services. The company's inspection-led model has led to impressive branch-level improvements, with EBITDA margin growth from 13% in 2021 to 17% currently, aiming for 20% in North America and 18% internationally. The company has delivered on its previous targets, including a 13% EBITDA margin and 55% of revenue from Inspection, Service and Monitoring, with 75% free cash flow conversion. New targets have been set, including $10 billion in revenue by 2028, 16% EBITDA margin, and 60+ % of revenue from Inspection Service and Monitoring. To achieve $10.4 billion in revenue, APG plans to focus on $1.4 billion in organic growth, $1 billion from smaller acquisitions, and $1 billion from one or two large platform acquisitions. The company aims to produce $3 billion in cumulative adjusted free cash flow through 2028, with potential for $4 billion. Valuation suggests a path to $75-80 per share by 2028, assuming $10 billion in revenue, 16% adjusted EBITDA margin, and a slight multiple contraction to 15x EV/EBITDA. With a potential buyback of $1 billion and net leverage of 2.7x, the stock offers 57% upside. While this may not seem exciting to some, APG is a well-run company with a strong track record, and the author considers adding to their position if the stock dips to $40-45 per share. Previously we covered a on APi Group Corporation by Kairos Research in November 2024, which highlighted the company's inspection-led model, recurring revenue focus, and disciplined acquisitions in fire safety. The company's stock price has appreciated approximately 37% since our coverage. This is because the thesis played out as expected. Kairos Research shares an identical view but emphasizes on updated targets and long-term growth projections. APG isn't on our list of the 30 Most Popular Stocks Among Hedge Funds.
