Danville man arrested, charged with Aggravated Battery
Police were called to the area at 6:15 p.m. Thursday, May 22, with a report that a 47-year-old Danville man had been stabbed. The victim was airlifted from the scene to Carle Hospital in Urbana and is listed in stable condition.
'During the investigation, officers received valuable witness information and a description of the suspect,' Deputy Chief Terry McCord said. 'Danville Police Officers located 41-year-old Daniel Kist, of Danville, approximately nine blocks from the scene of the incident.
Kist was arrested and taken to the Public Safety Building, where detectives questioned him.'
Kist was booked and charged with Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon. He is being held at the Vermilion County jail pending a pre-trial hearing.
'The Danville Police Department would like to thank the community and those who spoke up after seeing something. Information provided to officers on the scene was crucial in locating the suspect who fled,' McCord said.

Police close key Merseyside roads after multi-car crash
A number of cars were involved in a major crash on a Merseyside road. Police received reports of the multi-car pile-up at around 2.45pm today (Saturday). Merseyside Police said the crash happened at the junction of Woolfall Heath Avenue and Seth Powell Way in Stockbridge Village. They asked people to avoid the area for a period after the crash, while a road closure was in place. Images and footage shared with the ECHO showed a number of police vehicles in place at the junction where the crash happened. One of the vehicles in the footage is a mobile police station unit, formed out of a police van. Signs and cones can be seen in the area indicating a road closure. The police statement did not include details of whether anyone was injured. "Monster": Officials react to James Taylor arrest; one calls for suspension by governor
FORT PIERCE — Local leaders and elected officials are reacting to the arrest of City Commissioner James Taylor, charged with 24 felony counts related to child exploitation. Here's what they've had to say: St. Lucie County Sheriff Richard Del Toro At a news conference shortly after his office made the arrest, St. Lucie County Sheriff Richard Del Toro addressed Taylor's position as an elected official. 'Obviously in this case he is a public official, but nobody is above the law, and this case is going to be handled with the utmost integrity and transparency and relentless follow up that we do here at the Sheriff's Office,' Del Toro said. Fort Pierce City Hall Fort Pierce Marketing and Communications Manager Kaitlyn Ballard issued a statement on behalf of the city. "The city of Fort Pierce is aware of the recent arrest of Commissioner James Taylor. We understand that this development may raise concerns within our community, and we want to reassure our residents that we remain committed to serving the public with integrity, transparency and accountability," Ballard wrote. "While this matter is serious, it is important to recognize that the City Commission operates as a unified governing body. City functions will continue without disruption. Queens building owner issued violation after facade collapse injures 3
New York City Department of Buildings inspectors have issued a violation to the owner of a Queens building after a furniture store's facade collapsed in Queens, injuring three people. Residents in the Bellerose neighborhood are in disbelief after the facade collapse on Jericho Turnpike. Some 175 linear feet of the parapet wall came down onto the sidewalk and street below, the DOB said. So far, the cause of the collapse is not known. Inspectors issued what's called an OATH/ECB violation to the property owner for "failure to maintain the building," according to the DOB. They ordered the building owner to construct a tight board fence in front of the property to protect the public. A complaint in June said the building wasn't up to date, and there were holes in the ceiling and floor. It's not clear if that's connected to Wednesday's collapse. "I just opened the store two weeks ago, and this thing happened," Plaza Furniture owner Billy Rashid said. Rashid's facade fell on three people, including two children. Cars parked next to the building were crushed. At least five businesses on Jericho Turnpike between 245th and 246th Streets have been given vacate orders. "I stopped at the light down there, heard a loud boom, I looked behind me all I saw was smoke in the air and people running toward the building," witness Victoria Craig said. The three people hurt in the collapse were hospitalized in stable condition.
