Luke Littler slams 'scum of the earth' as car window smashed during exhibition

Daily Mirror17-05-2025
Luke Littler has endured a rollercoaster week having secured top spot in the Premier League before having to deal with an unfortunate incident during an exhibition match in Norwich
Darts wonderkid Luke Littler took aim at the 'absolute scum of the Earth' who left his car window smashed while he was on the oche. The 18-year-old was in action in Norwich for an exhibition.
But it did not all quite go to plan for Littler as he returned to his car with the back window smashed in. Sharing the news on Instagram, he shared a picture of the car, alongside the caption: 'Just trying to do an exhibition in Norwich and this happens, absolute scum of the earth.'

Littler was playing at the MODUS Sports exhibition, alongside the legendary Raymond van Barneveld and Luke Humphries. The incident rounded off what has been a rollercoaster week for Littler. Earlier this week, he had secured top spot in the Premier League on Night 15 in Aberdeen.

Despite having already reached the semi-finals, he put on an absolute classic against Humphries and has now guaranteed himself as the first-placed playoff qualifier. He will be joined by Humphries and Gerwyn Price, the pair having also qualified.
Meanwhile, Littler's participation at this year's World Cup was also confirmed, having announced he will join forces with Humphries. Taking to Instagram announcing his pairing, Littler wrote: "Dream team confirmed. Bring on the world cup in June @lukehumphries180."
There was initially some doubt over Littler's participation in the competition having hinted that he would not play again in Germany until later in the year. But he allayed any fears that supporters may have had.
He said: "No, no I was always [going to play]. Luke [Humphries] will want to go back-to-back and obviously I want to win it for the first time. Even though it's not a major, it's still playing for your country."
Partner Humphries also gave his verdict and was sure Littler was going to be there. He said: "I saw Luke's post and I knew straight away that he didn't mean what he said. He probably forgot about the World Cup being in Germany. When I asked him about it he said: 'No, I'm definitely playing'. Of course he is.

"No-one's going to turn down playing for England. You can never turn down playing for your country. I would never turn it down in a million years, no matter how tired I was, how ill I was. I'm putting on the England jersey, whether I'm dying or not."
On the chance to finally be playing with Littler and not against him, Humphries added: "I feel like the fans are going to enjoy watching us both play together. The two best players in the world, a lot of pressure is going to be on our shoulders. I think everybody is expecting us to win it and no one's going to touch us."

Arsenal's next transfer priority becomes clear as Mikel Arteta weighs up three players

Arsenal have signed four players and are close to wrapping up deals for Cristhian Mosquera and Viktor Gyokeres, but their spending spree may not be done there. Arsenal remain keen to strengthen their attack, with moves for three players reportedly being weighed up. The Gunners have been busy this summer, signing Martin Zubimendi, Noni Madueke, Christian Norgaard and Kepa Arrizabalaga. ‌ They are also hoping to wrap up deals for Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera and Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres in the coming days, with manager Mikel Arteta stating: "In terms of numbers, we are short and we have to improve the depth and quality of the squad. ‌ "We are constantly looking in the market. Until that happens, focus on the players we have and focus on them and I'm very pleased with what I have seen in the last 10-15 days." ‌ And the Athletic are now reporting that Arsenal are also considering moves for Real Madrid winger Rodrygo, Newcastle star Anthony Gordon and Crystal Palace's Eberechi Eze. The report states that any deal may be tied to the futures of Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard. Rodrygo has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal this summer, having fallen down the pecking order at Real Madrid. He made just one start under new boss Xabi Alonso at the Club World Cup and was an unused substitute as they were thrashed 4-0 by Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-finals. And when asked about Rodrygo's future following the loss to PSG, Alonso said: "I didn't play Rodrygo for a technical decision. We thought we would be better off with other players. It's not about his future. ‌ "The fact that he didn't play again is a game-by-game decision. The way things were going, we needed another player. There haven't been any decisions about the future throughout this entire championship; we haven't rotated much. "We'll start in a different context. We want to build a team that plays as a unit and maintain that feeling and spirit. The World Cup has been very demanding; we've been left in the penultimate stage, it hurts, and now we'll see what happens." ‌ Eze, meanwhile, has a £68million release clause and the player has spoken out about a potential move away from Palace. "I'm so focused on just being the best player I can be, whatever interest comes, or whatever happens," he said in September. "I want to enjoy my football where I am right now. The things that I can control, that's it. I'm really, really invested in becoming the best player I can be. Whether that leads me to another club, or to whatever, I'm at peace with that - and I try to stay there (at peace) as well."

Dame Laura Kenny opens up about post-pregnancy body image fears at Wimbledon

Laura Kenny gave birth to her third child and first daughter, Lily, in early May and has since returned to work and public events, including an appearance at the Wimbledon this month Dame Laura Kenny has spoken out on the highs and lows of post-pregnancy body image after a difficult first public appearance at Wimbledon. ‌ The 33-year-old gave birth to her third child and first daughter, Lily, in early May and has since returned to work and public events, including an appearance alongside husband Jason at the Wimbledon Championships earlier this month. ‌ Kenny admitted that it wasn't all sunshine and roses in the lead-up to the event, struggling to find a dress that she felt comfortable in so soon after giving birth, which would also allow her to feed her daughter during the day. ‌ Posting to her 221k followers on Instagram, the five-time Olympic champion opened up about the mental and emotional toll being a mother to a newborn can have on you and was overwhelmed to see such an incredible response from others in a similar position. "I find it hugely important to post about this stuff, especially from a women's point of view," she said. "We actually looked at the digital response and there were 1.5 million views and 86% were female on that post alone. "That's why it's so important, and that's why I posted it, because I want every other mum that's sitting at home to know how I was feeling. "You see a nice happy photo of us at Wimbledon, but that wasn't the backstory. The backstory was me actually quite upset, trying to find an outfit because I felt like I didn't look like me, and I'm having to put myself in the limelight, and find a dress that will let me feed my child. "Yes, going to Wimbledon is a choice, but it is also something that I wanted to do, and I shouldn't have to give that up." ‌ Kenny retired from her career in the velodrome in March 2024 and has since stepped into a new role as President of Commonwealth Games England. It is a role she took on at seven months pregnant and one that she has taken in stride, having already attended her first board meeting less than 12 weeks after giving birth. And even though Lily might admittedly be the easiest of her three children when it comes to sleeping, Kenny knows that returning to work so quickly is hardly the norm for most mothers. ‌ She also noted that it is something she enjoys, having always embraced chaos in the workplace. "Some people think it's a bit mental coming back so soon," she said. "I mean, I filmed a podcast when she was just two days old, and it didn't even occur to me that it was kind of mental. Our line of work is a bit random, and it is a bit all over the place, and so it's always been like that. "I trained with Albie, and he just travelled the world with us so for me, I've actually never known any different and so I'm just enjoying it again. ‌ "I'm not going to say it's not difficult, but I like the mayhem and absolute carnage." Kenny's new role is quickly heating up, with today marking one year to go until the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games. ‌ It is a milestone that the former track cyclist knows well from her time as an athlete, believing that it was a key moment for athletes to nail down their targets. "From an athlete's point of view, you can think that the Games are coming around really fast, and it can almost seem a little bit scary," she said. "But I think it feels scary, and it feels daunting because it means so much to you. I think it brings a whole host of emotion. ‌ "I always felt like a year to go was really achievable. I could set a target by that point." But from her new stead as President, Kenny admitted that she is relishing the new behind-the-scenes aspect that she has access to. From board meetings about accommodation to talking through athlete selection processes, Kenny has a whole new world of insight into what happens to make a Commonwealth Games come to life. And with the clock ticking down until the opening day of competition on 23 July 2026 in Glasgow, she is more than ready to get stuck in. "I'm so excited," she said. "The reason I took the role in the first place was because I felt like I wanted to give back to the athletes and because Team England have played a huge part in my career. "So, the bit that I'm obviously most excited about is actually talking to the athletes and getting involved and that will only ramp up from now."
