Well, a Newport-based auction firm may have just the thing.
More used to selling property firmly set on dry land a Paul Fosh Auctions is entering uncharted territory with its first sale of a waterborne lot - a narrowboat.
Moored at a tranquil rural location just across the River Severn in Gloucestershire on a private mooring on the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal, the 72-foot traditional working narrowboat offers the chance for a complete lifestyle reboot.
Angie Davey, of Paul Fosh Auctions, said: 'This gorgeous narrowboat, rurally moored near the historic village of Frampton-on-Severn, Gloucestershire, is surely one of the most unusual and exciting properties I've had for sale over the many years I've been handling lots at auction.
'The traditional narrowboat, appears to have everything you'd need for a life afloat, offers new owners a cosy peaceful home on a tranquil canal setting.
"And there's also the enticing opportunity to spread your wings, as it were, and set forth on a journey or adventure and explore the UK's myriad inland waterways.'
Riverwitch, at Tanhouse Farm Mooring, Frampton on Severn, is listed with a guide price of £67,000.
Angie said: 'This narrowboat, which was refurbished by the current owners, is moored in an idyllic, peaceful and private mooring on the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal - part of which is a 16-mile stretch of canal from the mooring with no locks to contend with for those beginning their narrowboat adventure.
'The Canal & River Trust (CRT) licences cover you to travel on most inland waterways but for certain rivers additional licences might be required."
The canal has manned bridges and no locks and you don't pay for this when you use them.
The boat benefits from a good deal of privacy as it is moored on the opposite side of the usual towpath and with access via a short stroll from the car parking area, woodland and footbridge.
Angie said: 'The current accommodation includes an open plan lounge/dining/study with wood burner, kitchen with appliances including washing machine, fridge/freezer, dryer and cooker; two cabins (bedrooms) with storage/dressing area, and shower room.
'The embankment/garden area is secluded by woodland behind. The gas boiler provides hot water and central heating. There is also an electric hook up.
"The permanent mooring is for 12 months per annum and mooring costs are £350 plus £20 electricity pcm."
Riverwitch has gas which is LPG.
The Canal and River Trust licence is £430 per quarter which pays for water, rubbish collection, sewage emptying and use of the locks.
'Riverwitch is being sold with all the necessary batteries, inverter, Eberspatcher heater, and a well-maintained Lister engine. The boat had a full out of water survey in February and also has an up-to-date boat safe certificate.
'There are marine finance and mortgages are available to buy boats.'
Frampton on Severn is a picturesque village about 10 miles (16 km) south of Gloucester on the east bank of the River Severn, and on the west bank of the River Frome. The village is linked by footpath to the Sharpness Canal.

The 120ft cascade at Aber Falls and its surrounding area have been popular tourist destinations since the 18th century but as the waterfall gathers increasing attention on social media, the flow of people wanting to see it has turned into a stampede. ‌ It means an access road to the falls has now become so busy that the nearby village of Abergwyngregyn in Eryri can become gridlocked at peak times. Residents complain of being trapped in their homes, unable to leave a village that was home to the last native prince of Wales, reports North Wales Live. ‌ In terms of popularity, the waterfall was ranked 10th in Europe, placing it alongside some of Iceland's iconic cascades. Other Welsh waterfalls to feature in the list were Swallow Falls near Betws-y-Coed, Henrhyd Falls in Bannau Brycheiniog, Pistyll Rhaeadr in the Berwyn Mountains and Horseshoe Falls on the River Dee in Llangollen. To arrive at its findings of popularity, German travel provider SpaDreams analysed 219 European waterfalls and their presence on Google, Bing, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube and TikTok. The Hamburg-based company said waterfalls have long held a certain allure: "Anyone who has ever stood in front of a waterfall knows its magic: the hypnotic roar of the water, the caress of the spray on the face, the feeling of being in touch with the pure energy of nature." The waterfall has attracted celebrity endorsements too: last year model and TV personality Christine McGuiness described it as "the most magical, beautiful thing I have ever seen" after visiting it on BBC's Pilgrimage: The Road Through North Wales. As it lies just a mile from the A55, the waterfall is easily accessible. A narrow road winds through Abergwyngregyn up to Aber National Nature Reserve where ticketed car parks are run by Eryri National Park and Natural Resources Wales (NRW) At busy times, villagers say queuing traffic can snake back all the way to the dual-carriageway. ‌ Gwynedd council says it is sympathetic to the issues and has met representatives to discuss solutions. But it said there are "no easy fixes". In the past, Horseshoe Falls has also faced illegal and inconsiderate parking, though enforcement has helped ease the issues. Scotland's biggest airports are cashing in this summer by charging holidaymakers 'outrageous' drop-off parking charges despite already raking in millions of pounds. Experts have said pick-up and drop-off fees at terminals, branded the 'kiss and fly tax', are a relatively recent phenomenon and are 'an easy cash grab' for airports. ‌ Both Edinburgh and Glasgow airports have already raised drop-off charges this year. ‌ Now motorists who use a short-stay zone to drop off or collect loved ones at Edinburgh face having to fork out £6 for just ten minutes while those stopping at Glasgow have 15 minutes. The price hikes come despite the latest available accounts for Glasgow Airport, which is owned by AGS, showing it made a profit after tax of more than £4.6m. Meanwhile Edinburgh, which is jointly owned by VINCI Airports and Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) raked in more than £88.2m. Edinburgh-based consumer and motoring disputes expert Scott Dixon said the fees had become a 'lucrative cash cow for airports '. He said: 'Forcing motorists to pay up to £6 to pick up or drop off family and friends is outrageous, especially as the fees seem to rise yearly with no genuine justification. ‌ 'It hits families the hardest, particularly in peak summer holiday season, where using public transport isn't a viable option. 'The fees are generally added to taxi fares, so there's no easy way to avoid it.' ‌ Dixon, who runs the Complaints Resolver website, added: 'Airports claim it's about managing congestion and investing in sustainable transport options, but in reality, it's an easy cash grab that punishes drivers for doing what they did for free until a few years ago.' Airports began phasing in the charges after the Glasgow Airport terrorist attack in 2007 forced a rethink of drop-off arrangements. At Edinburgh, Scotland's largest airport, a £1 drop-off fee was introduced in 2010. But in January the charge had soared to £6 for the first ten minutes and £1-per-minute after that. ‌ In Glasgow, it's £6 for the first 15 minutes and £1-a-minute after. It marks the third year running the airport has raised the cost. The cost to park at the airport's short-stay fee is £8 for 20 minutes, which is 50 pence higher than London Heathrow. ‌ Aberdeen Airport, also run by AGS, has so far kept drop-off fees at £5.50 for the first 15 minutes after raising it in 2024. However, in April it hiked rates in its short-stay car parks to £7 for the first 20 minutes. Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen airports said they offered free pick-up and drop-off areas further away from their main terminals. Edinburgh Airport is also linked to the capital's tramline. A spokesman said: 'We do increase costs when required to allow us to remain competitive… and encourage people to make more sustainable choices, with 42 per cent of our passengers now using public transport.' Glasgow Airport said: 'All of the income generated by the charge is reinvested into the airport.' Aberdeen International Airport said the increase in its short-stay charge followed a review of parking facilities, adding: 'There are no changes to our free drop-off facility… in our long-stay car park.'
