Mid-Century Modern: Watch First Trailer for Hulu's Nathan Lane-Matt Bomer Sitcom
Mid-Century Modern — which hails from Will & Grace creators Max Mutchnick and David Kohan, and executive producer Ryan Murphy — is loosely inspired by The Golden Girls, and 'follows three best friends — gay gentlemen of a certain age — who, after an unexpected death, decide to spend their golden years living together in Palm Springs where the wealthiest one lives with his mother,' according to the official logline. 'As a chosen family, they prove that no matter how hard things get, there's always someone around to remind you it would be better if you got your neck done.'

Lavin died unexpectedly on Dec. 29, due to complications from recently discovered lung cancer, midway through production on Season 1. The Emmy-nominated actress and two-time Golden Globe winner was 87.
One month later, Mutchnick revealed that art would, sadly, imitate life, with Lavin's passing being written into the show.
Sitcom legend James Burrows directed the pilot and serves as an executive producer, alongside Mutchnick, Kohan, Burrows, Lane, Bomer and Murphy.

'Like her son, Sybil's strengths are her weaknesses — wise, caring and iconoclastic — which sometimes means she's critical, smothering and amoral.'
'Jerry left the Mormon Church and his marriage in his early 20s after his wife informed him and the rest of the congregation that he was a homosexual. Now a latter-day saint in the literal sense of the term, Jerry is pure of heart. He is also hard of body and soft of head.'

Lindsay Lohan Admits It's 'Frustrating' Being Pigeonholed By Past Roles: 'Give Me the Chance'
Lindsay Lohan is opening up about her feelings of being pigeonholed by roles she's played in the past as a longstanding actress in the entertainment industry. After starring in 1998's The Parent Trap when she was 12, Lohan's career skyrocketed. She went on to appear in many more beloved projects, including Freaky Friday and Mean Girls, and she is next up set to reprise her role in the former film with the 2025 followup Freakier Friday. More from The Hollywood Reporter Julia Butters Takes on the A-List - Again Anthony Anderson "Regrets" If 2003 Lindsay Lohan Interview "Intended as Comedy" Was in "Poor Taste" Lindsay Lohan Wants to Do "Some More Serious, Dramatic Roles" After 'Freakier Friday' In a Saturday profile with The Times U.K., Lohan admitted that she 'wanted to take a minute' to herself, which saw her shy away from leading roles from 2013 until 2022. 'I was losing that feeling of excitement about doing a film, and I wanted to live my own life for a bit, figure out how to have a more private life, a real life,' she explained. 'I wanted to wait to get that itch again.' A new project Lohan is admittedly excited about is her upcoming Hulu Drama Count My Lies, where she will star and produce. Still, when reflecting on her career thus far and asked if she felt 'pigeonholed,' she replied, 'Yeah, I do.' 'I was so thrilled to work on A Prairie Home Companion, and yet even today I have to fight for stuff that is like that, which is frustrating. Because, well, you know me as this — but you also know I can do that. So let me! Give me the chance,' Lohan said. 'I have to break that cycle and open doors to something else, leaving people no choice. And in due time, if Martin Scorsese reaches out, I'm not going to say no.' At the Los Angeles premiere of Freakier Friday, Lohan told The Hollywood Reporter that moving forward in her career, she would 'like to take on some more serious, dramatic roles,' further noting that she felt a bit of pressure to stick to the rom-com genre. 'I love doing romantic comedy because that's where my home is and I feel like where my fans want to see me, but I'd like to take on some things that are different; maybe find something that's an action-packed film. Just really show people a different side of me,' she added. The Golden Bachelor's Mel Owens Offers Mea Culpa for ‘Insensitive' Comments About Older Women: ‘I've Learned a Lot'
The new star of The Golden Bachelor was a little tarnished by recent comments he made about dating older women, but he's trying to make amends. In a new interview with Glamour, Mel Owens — who is set to star in the second season of ABC's senior dating competition — confronts the backlash he received when he said in a podcast interview in June that he'd eliminate any contestants age 60 or older. (Owens is 66, for the record.) More from TVLine Matt Damon and Ken Jennings Risk It All on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire - But Did They Win Big? ABC Moves Up Premiere Date for 9-1-1, 9-1-1: Nashville and Grey's Anatomy Joshua Jackson Admits He's 'Bummed Out' by Doctor Odyssey Cancellation: 'It Was a Really Fun Show' Owens is now backtracking on those comments, saying they 'were a mistake by me. It's unfair. It's insensitive… and I want to earn it back.' Owens is currently two weeks into shooting his season of The Golden Bachelor, and he reveals he apologized to the women as well: 'When I first walked in, I addressed it. I apologized to them. I said, 'It was unfair, insensitive. I want to earn it back. Just give me the chance.'' The women on Owens' season are in their 60s, he says, and he was 'absolutely shocked' at how 'active' and 'brilliant' they are. (ABC has not yet revealed the women competing in Mel's season.) They also got a little revenge on him, he hints: 'One of the dates was a roast. It was brutal. They were killing me… It was good because I earned that, and I took it and I deserved it, and it landed squarely on me.' Owens blames his controversial comments on his lack of familiarity with the show: 'I didn't know the age range because I wasn't watching it. I'm thinking, to me, the age range was 45 to 60. That's my age range. I'm thinking that's the gold years for me.' He also says he preferred younger women because 'my reference… was when I was dating at 39, 40. I hadn't dated in 26 years, so I had no clue.' He hopes fans who wrote off the show after his comments will give it another chance: 'Hopefully the show will show that the women that are in their golden years, that are doing these amazing things. It's inspirational.' The experience so far has been 'life-altering' for him, he adds: 'I've learned a lot.' Owens' season of The Golden Bachelor premieres Wednesday, Sept. 24 at 8/7c on ABC.
