Police are seeking multiple people that were involved in two jewelry store thefts in Fort McMurray that resulted in a $400,000 loss.
Shortly after 4 a.m. on Tuesday, RCMP responded to an attempted break-and-enter at Canadian Jewelers in downtown Fort McMurray.
The business owner was alerted to loud noises and found two people attempting to break into the store. The two fled when confronted by the store owner and were seen leaving the area in a grey SUV.

About 40 minutes later, police received a call for an intrusion alarm at Prestige Jewelers in Peter Pond Mall. At 4:20 a.m., individuals broke through the exterior glass doors of the mall and proceeded to steal an undisclosed amount of jewelry. Police say the total estimated loss is around $400,000.
Police say they are unsure exactly how many people were involved, but can so far confirm through video footage there were at least three people.

Those involved in the break-ins were wearing all black clothing, including clothing that concealed their faces. A grey SUV was seen at both incidents and was last spotted leaving the area northbound of MacDonald Avenue.

Anyone with information regarding the break-ins is asked to contact the Wood Buffalo RCMP at 780-788-4000 or 310-7267. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers.

The photo, which appears to be from a surveillance camera inside a convenience store, shows a white man with short grey hair wearing black shorts, a grey hoodie and white sneakers.
