Did Alan Cumming Accidentally Give Away an Avengers: Doomsday Fight?

Gizmodo08-05-2025
James Wan still wants to give Conjuring's Crooked Man their own movie. Fear Street: Prom Queen teases its next cast of potential victims. Plus, what's coming on The Last of Us and The Walking Dead: Dead City. To me, my spoilers!
Avengers: Doomsday
Speaking to Buzzfeed discussing stunt training for fights on the upcoming Avengers movie, Alan Cumming may have accidentally revealed that Nightcrawler battles Pedro Pascal's Mr. Fantastic at some point during the film.
I'm sort of learning these fights and I'm like, 'What? Who am I fighting with?' And they said, 'You're hitting Pedro Pascal against the head,' or something.
Star Wars
During a recent interview with The One Show (via Screen Rant), Natalie Portman stated she'd return to the Star Wars franchise if Padmé Amidala was resurrected from the dead and became a Jedi.
With a lightsaber. I think she'd have to be a Jedi. Somehow, she was brought back from the dead; that would be exciting.
Banquet
Deadline reports Meghann Fahy will star in Banquet, a 'supernatural thriller' from The Platform director, Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia. Fahy will play Jenny Cochrane, 'a woman whose perfect life is shattered by the return of her estranged son, which reawakens a terrifying secret buried in her bloodline.'
Dark Jungle
Variety additionally reports Martin Wilson is attached to direct Dark Jungle, a project following 'a team of elite mercenaries deep in the jungle who embark on a rescue mission only to find themselves hunted by a swarm of giant, deadly bats.'
Bone Keeper
Meanwhile, John Rys-Davies is attached to star in Bone Keeper, a monster movie in which 'six young friends enter a remote cave system to investigate the disappearance of several missing persons, only to find themselves being gradually hunted by a mysterious creature that may have inhabited the cave for thousands of years. The mystery started with a fireball crashing into a remote woodland, awakening a terrifying creature hidden in the depths. Fast forward to 1976, James Wheeler enters a cave determined to uncover the truth – and is never seen again. All that's found is a single frame of Super 8 film, capturing the silhouette of a creature. In the present day, Wheeler's granddaughter, along with five explorers, sets out to investigate the legend of the 'Bone Keeper.' But as they venture deeper, they realize they are being hunted and the line between hunter and prey begins to blur. Will they uncover the truth and escape the creature – or become the next missing souls?' [Variety]
The Crooked Man
During a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, James Wan stated he's still interested in directing a Conjuring 2 spinoff focusing on The Crooked Man.
I still have a movie in my head that I would hopefully love to get off the ground one day, but we'll see. I get fans that reach out to me every now and then, begging us to make a Crooked Man movie. Just as a fan, I would love to do it one day, if I can convince the studio to do so.

Sydney Sweeney Is A Registered Republican

Sydney Sweeney is a registered Republican. A viral post on X by the user @time222smoke first claimed that the actor was a registered member of the party. According to publicly available voter registration records that BuzzFeed viewed, Sydney has been registered to the Republican Party of Florida since June 2024. The news comes after Sydney faced backlash for her "great jeans" American Eagle ad, in which she said, "Genes are passed down from parent to offspring, often determining traits like eye color, personality, and even hair color. My jeans are blue." White House communications manager Steven Cheung subsequently called criticism that the ad acted as a right-wing signal for whiteness "dense liberal thinking" and 'cancel culture run amok.' Sydney previously faced criticism in 2022 for posting a series of photos from a "surprise hoedown" she'd thrown for her mother's birthday, in which guests wore MAGA-style hats and one was spotted seemingly wearing a "Blue Lives Matter" shirt. In response, Sydney said at the time, "An innocent celebration for my moms milestone 60th birthday has turned into an absurd political statement, which was not the intention. Please stop making assumptions." BuzzFeed has reached out to representatives for Sydney for comment.

Robert Downey Jr.'s Avengers: Doomsday Pay Revealed

Robert Downey Jr. is set to star in Avengers: Doomsday, and according to a new report, his pay for the film won't be coming at any sort of discount. What is Robert Downey Jr.'s Avengers: Doomsday pay? According to a new report from Variety on the upcoming slate of movies for Marvel Studios, Downey — who has already earned between $500 and $600 million from his time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe — won't be 'working at a discount' for Doomsday. In a since-edited report, Variety originally reported that Downey would be making 'significantly more' than $80 millon for his roles in both Doomsday and Secret Wars. This suggests that Downey is likely set to earn over $100 million for his roles, pushing his total MCU earnings into some very wild numbers. Past reports from Variety also note that Downey has gotten a ton of perks for his upcoming turn as Doctor Doom. These include things like private jet travel, dedicated security, a 'trailer encampment,' and more. Although Downey headlines it, the remaining cast for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday will be massive. So far, several major stars from the MCU have been confirmed to be in the movie, including Chris Hemsworth's Thor, Pedro Pascal's Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby's Invisible Woman/Sue Storm, Anthony Mackie's Captain America, Sebastian Stan's Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Letitia Wright's Shuri/Black Panther, and Paul Rudd's Ant-Man. More names for the upcoming movie include Wyatt Russell's U.S. Agent/John Walker, Tenoch Huerta's Namor, Ebon Moss-Bachrach's The Thing/Ben Grimm, Simu Liu's Shang-Chi, Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova, Kelsey Grammer's Dr. Hank McCoy/Beast, Lewis Pullman's Bob/Sentry, Danny Ramirez's Joaquin Torres/Falcon, Joseph Quinn's Johnny Storm/Human Torch, David Harbour's Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Winston Duke's M'Baku, Hannah John-Kamen's Ava Starr/Ghost, and Tom Hiddleston's Loki. Several X-Men characters are also coming back for the upcoming movie, including Patrick Stewart's Charles Xavier, Ian McKellen's Magneto, Alan Cumming's Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn's Mystique, James Marsden's Cyclops, and Channing Tatum's Gambit. Avengers: Doomsday is slated to release in theaters on December 18, 2026. Solve the daily Crossword
