UFC Baku Fight Card Odds And Predictions: Hill Vs. Rountree
The next fight card on the UFC schedule, UFC Baku, takes place on Saturday, June 21, from Baku Crystal Hall in Baku, Azerbaijan. The UFC Fight Night marks the UFC's first visit to Baku. The main event of the UFC Baku fight card finds former UFC light heavyweight champion Jamahal Hill facing recent UFC 205-pound title challenger Khalil Rountree Jr. Before that scrap, Rafael Fiziev and Ignacio Bahamondes face off in the lightweight co-main event. UFC Baku has an early start time in the US, with the main card kicking off at 3:00 p.m. ET.

Jamahal Hill (12-3-0-1) had a 5-0 record when he appeared on a Dana White Contender Series card in July 2019. He won that fight against Alexander Poppeck by TKO in the third round. The victory earned him a UFC contract.
Hill made his official UFC debut in January 2020, winning a decision over Darko Stosic on the main card of an ESPN+ event at PNC Arena in Raleigh, North Carolina. He then faced Klidson Abreu in May 2020. He initially won that bout by first-round TKO, but the result was later overturned to a no-contest because Hill tested positive for marijuana
He followed that fight with a December 2020 TKO over former interim light heavyweight title challenger Ovince Saint Preux.
Hill's unbeaten streak ended in his next trip to the Octagon, when Paul Craig ended their June 2021 fight in under two minutes by TKO.
Hill bounced back from that loss by rattling off three straight 'Performance of the Night' bonus-winning knockouts. That run earned him a shot at then-champion Glover Teixeira. Hill put on a striking clinic in that fight, battering Teixeira over five rounds to earn a one-sided decision win and the UFC 205-pound crown. That fight headlined UFC 283 in January 2023.
Misfortune ended Hill's title reign. In July 2023, he suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon during a UFC fighter basketball game. He relinquished the title and underwent surgery to repair the injury.
Hill returned at UFC 300 in a matchup against UFC light heavyweight champ Alex Pereira. Pereira ended that fight via knockout at the 3:14 mark of the first round.
Hill returned to the Octagon at UFC 311 when he faced former champ Jiri Prochazka on the main card. Prochazka ended that bout via TKO at 3:01 of Round 3.
Hill, the No. 4 ranked UFC light heavyweight, has seven wins by knockout and five decision victories. His three losses have come via knockout.

Khalil Rountree Jr. (13-6-0-1) joined the UFC in July 2016 when a loss to Andrew Sanchez in the season finale of The Ultimate Fighter dropped him to 4-1 as a pro.
A submission loss to Tyson Pedro followed Rountree's defeat to Sanchez. However, Rountree went 3-0-0-1 after that setback, scoring three knockout wins in his victories. A knockout loss to Johnny Walker, who Rountree was favored to beat, ended his unbeaten streak.
A decision victory over Eryk Anders in April 2019 got Rountree back in the win column, but a TKO loss to Ion Cutelaba and a decision setback against Marcin Prachnio followed.
In September 2021, the UFC matchmakers booked Rountree against Modestas Bukauskas. He won that scrap via TKO. That win was the first of five consecutive victories for Rountree.
Rountree was scheduled to face former UFC light heavyweight champ Jamahal Hill in June, but a self-reported drug test failure knocked him from that card. The Nevada State Athletic Commission suspended Rountree 4.5 months for that drug test failure.
When Rountree returned to action it was at UFC 307 in the main event of the pay-per-view card opposite then-UFC 205-pound champion Alex Pereira. Pereira battered Rountree before ending the fight via TKO in the fourth round.
Rountree has nine knockout wins and four decision victories. His losses have come by knockout (three), submission (one) and decision (two). He is the No. 7 ranked competitor in the UFC's 205-pound weight class.
When BetOnline first published the betting lines for the UFC Baku main event, Rountree was the -135 betting favorite, while Hill came in at +115. Today, the fight is a pick 'em, with Rountree at -117 and Hill coming in at -103.

The first pick, and maybe easiest pick, for this fight is the outcome, which is for Hill vs. Rountree to end via knockout.
Now, as for which fighter will score that knockout, that's where things get a little iffy. Both men have power, both men look to headhunt, but Rountree is the more well-rounded fighter. He has more tools and a deeper arsenal of weapons. He's also a bit more defensively sound than Hill.
The betting pick is for Rountree to find an opening for a counter and send Hill to the mat for a knockout win.

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jiri Prochazka has his next assignment. A handful of big October bouts were announced this past week, including the Oct. 4 return of Prochazka for a showdown against Khalil Rountree Jr. at UFC 320 in Las Vegas. The UFC light heavyweight title will also be on the line in the card's main event, when champion Magomed Ankalaev rematches Alex Pereira. Prochazka revealed Monday on Uncrowned's "The Ariel Helwani Show" that he's officially set to occupy the backup fighter role should anything go awry with the Anaklaev vs. Pereira 2 headliner. As for his bout against Rountree, he expects the winner to go on and challenge whoever holds the title after UFC 310. "It's not yet on the paper, but we are right now, that was their word," said Prochazka, who's twice challenged Pereira and twice lost by knockout to the Brazilian in the past three years. Since his latest win over Jamahal Hill at UFC 311 in January, Prochazka has stayed mentally sharp by continuing his college studies at Masarykova Univerzita. While he remains fully committed to his fight career, the former champ was dedicated to his schoolwork throughout the past semester, claiming to turn down a title shot offer against Ankalaev within the past several months. However, having bantered back and forth online with Ankalaev, the matchup against the champion remains enticing for Prochazka. "My hope is let the better [man] win, really," he said of Ankalaev vs. Pereira 2. "Because with Alex Pereira, there is a story [there between us] and a third fight, there's no other way to do [that] than to show the victory. With him, in a third fight, that would be great. To fight Ankalaev, it will be not just an honor, but I would like to fight Ankalaev, yeah. "In the first [Ankalaev vs. Pereira] fight, it was the same [question that will dominate conversation for the rematch] — how good will be Alex Pereira? Because in first fight, he didn't attack too much. He [held] himself a little bit back. I think, in his best shape, he will win for sure, but let's see. Ankalaev did great work with catching hands, up and down, changing levels. He did great work with Alex." If Prochazka wasn't getting a title fight next, he was hopeful to land Rountree instead. Unlike some of the Czech's latest foes, it's all respect for Rountree — and the matchup very easily could steal the show. "When I met him in Vegas, he looked like an ideal opponent," Prochazka said of Rountree. "He's a normal guy, technical, strategic, very dynamic. This is the opponent who I like to face. "I wanted to fight Ankalaev because there was a lot of trash talking after my fight, and from his side, there was a lot of not good words. But doesn't matter. This fight is about getting to the title, sure, but right now I'm really looking to show the best performance. This, for me, is the No. 1 [goal] in this game — to show the best performances. And I believe with Khalil, we can make a great fight." Prochazka vs. Rountree will only be a three-round bout, as UFC 320 hosts two title fights above it. Regardless, as with most of his fights, Prochazka doesn't expect the matchup to go the distance. Both men enter the Octagon fresh off victories over Hill. Prochazka put away the former champion with a third-round stoppage in a wild affair at UFC 311 to kickstart the year, while Rountree picked Hill apart for 25 minutes in a striking masterclass to win a unanimous decision this past June at UFC Baku. Prochazka and Rountree's performances were wildly different — chaos compared to calculation. If Prochazka has anything to say about it, he won't allow his opponent to dictate the pace in October. "A very careful performance. Patient," Prochazka said of Rountree's latest win. "My opinion, I don't like that. I don't like that performance because he gave Jamahal too many chances to be back in the fight. "[Rountree] had many chances to finish him decisively. That was not good. He was very patient, and what surprised me was Jamahal Hill's performance — I thought after a lot of trash talking, he would show a much better fight than he showed. "It was strange of Khalil to let him recover and still survive the fight, and Jamahal didn't show anything, and he was still too self-confident after the fight. If you want to fight on the top level, go there and show your best, totally, [with] no regrets."

Caio Borralho claims he's new UFC 319 main event backup; Nassourdine Imavov resonds
According to Caio Borralho, UFC 319 has a new backup plan. In the headliner of the Aug. 16 pay-per-view event at United Center in Chicago (ESPN+ pay-per-view, ESPN, ESPN+), Dricus Du Plessis is set to defend his middleweight title against Khamzat Chimaev. Current UFC-ranked No. 1 contender, Nassourdine Imavov, was initially set to weigh in as the backup, but plans have changed, according to Borralho (17-1 MMA, 7-0 UFC). "I told you, Imavov is not the guy that make the rules in this f*cking room, and I told everyone that," Borralho told Real MMA Today. "Now, I'm the backup from the fight against Dricus and Chimaev, 'cause they know I'm the guy that they can call and I can save the f*cking show. "I can go there, being ready with will of getting this f*cking belt if this opportunity comes to me – and they know I'm the guy they can call and do this sh*t." Imavov caught wind of Borralho's claim, and issued a reply on social media. "Backup? 😂 @BorralhoCaio good only to take my leftovers, you'll always come after, you'll always stay behind me. It's your destiny!" Imavov wrote on X (formerly Twitter). Borralho added a quick reply, "The n1 contender? 😂😂😂😂😂😂 ok bro" Borralho and Imavov (16-4 MMA, 8-2 UFC) are currently set to face each other in the main event of UFC Paris on Sept. 6 at Accor Arena. In the unlikely event that backup services are needed, their matchup could be in jeopardy. Regardless of what happens, Borralho promises to be ready for either fight. "They already tried to book me and Imavov on International Fight Week, and I said yes right away, and he said no," Borralho said. "So how they gonna trust this motherf*cker to be a f*cking backup? He's not the one; I'm the one. And I'm ready, I'm the backup. I'll be there in Chicago. I'm gonna make weight. If this f*cking fight doesn't happen, I'm going three weeks after to Paris, and I'm gonna f*cking kill this guy, and put my name on the No. 1 contender. "... If something happens to both of the guys, it can be Chimaev, it can be Dricus. It's a big fight, so they need a backup. I'm the one. They called, I answer. I'm ready. I've been studying all these guys. Dricus, Chimaev, Imavov, all these guys. So, I know as a Fighting Nerd, all the strategy and the tactics that I need to have to win every one of them, and that's what I do.
