He's back -- Tyson Fury confirms comeback after 'retiring' from boxing
The Gypsy King announced his second retirement back in January after losing his second fight to Oleksandr Usyk via unanimous decision. A trilogy bout was expected before Tyson sensationally announced that he was hanging up the gloves.
However, it has now been confirmed that he'll return to the ring after Saudi boxing promoter Turki Al-Sheikh posted on Instagram that Fury will be back — and hinted that Fury-Usyk 3 will be on the cards. View this post on Instagram

'The 'Gypsy King' will be back!!!' Mr Al-Sheikh wrote on Instagram. 'I talked with him, and I have his word to have him in Riyadh Season in 2026… We have a rabbit to hunt!'
Despite Mr Al-Sheikh saying that the trilogy fight will take place in Saudi Arabia, Fury himself has said that it will occur in Wembley Stadium in April 2026.

The first fight saw Fury lose his first ever professional boxing bout via split decision against Usyk, whom he has referred to as a 'rabbit,' in May 2024, and losing again seven months later with Usyk winning by unanimous decision.
Despite fans' hopes that the Gypsy King would return to the ring to finally fight Anthony Joshua in a bout that would be the most anticipated in British boxing history, he announced his retirement in January.
'Hi everybody, I'm going to make this short and sweet,' he said in a video on Instagram. Fury announced his retirement back in January, but confirmed his comeback for next year on Thursday morning. Pic:'I'd like to announce my retirement from boxing. It's been a blast. I've loved every single minute of it and I'm going to end with this: 'Dick Turpin wore a mask.' God bless everybody, see you on the other side.'

Club World Cup: Hercules powers Fluminense into semis
Matheus Martinelli and substitute Hercules struck as Brazilian side Fluminense advanced to the Club World Cup semi-finals with a 2-1 win over Saudi club Al-Hilal. Martinelli fired into the top corner after finding some room in the box following Gabriel Fuentes' cutback five minutes before half-time although they were quickly pegged back in Orlando. While Al-Hilal were denied a penalty by VAR, Marcos Leonardo struck from close range following a corner in the 51st minute for his fourth goal of the tournament. But Hercules, who came off the bench to guarantee Fluminense's win over Inter Milan last time out, struck in the 70th minute as the super-sub fired low into the net after his initial shot was blocked.

Sweden beat rivals Denmark to go 13 games unbeaten
SWEDEN BEAT their Scandinavian rivals Denmark 1-0 on Friday, taking an early lead in Group C at Women's Euro 2025 before Germany open their title bid against Poland. Filippa Angeldahl scored Sweden's winner in the 55th minute in Geneva after exchanging passes with Kosovare Asllani and firing into the far corner. Advertisement Sweden should have doubled their lead 10 minutes later when Madelen Janogy headed Hanna Lundkvist's pinpoint cross narrowly wide, while moments before Stina Blackstenius was denied by Frederikke Thogersen's brilliant goalline clearance. Peter Gerhardsson's team are now unbeaten in 13 games after a second straight win over the Danes, with Sweden running out emphatic 6-1 winners in the Nations League last month. Sweden kept a tight handle on Denmark's skipper Pernille Harder, although she did smash an effort off the crossbar with nine minutes remaining. The Bayern Munich forward was also involved when VAR decided not to award a penalty to Denmark in the opening minutes for a potential handball by Madelen Janogy, who was marking Parder. – © AFP 2025

Irish athlete Ciara Mageean diagnosed with cancer
IRISH ATHLETE CIARA Mageean has announced that she has been diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing treatment. The European champion and two-time Olympian posted on Instagram this evening. The 33-year-old said the diagnosis has 'been a lot to take in,' but is 'ready to face this with the same fight I've always brought to the track'. Advertisement 'To everyone who's been part of my journey so far, I have some difficult news to share: I've been diagnosed with cancer,' Mageean wrote. 'It's been a lot to take in, but I've already started treatment and I'm incredibly grateful to be surrounded by the love and support of my family and close friends. 'Right now, my focus is on healing and taking things one day at a time. I kindly ask that you respect my privacy and that of my loved ones as we move through this together. Your understanding means more than I can say. 'Thank you for the love and strength. I'm ready to face this with the same fight I've always brought to the track.' The Portaferry native won 1500m gold at the European Championships in Rome last June, having previously claimed silver (2022) and bronze (2016). She was forced to withdraw from the 2024 Olympic Games on the eve of her heat in Paris due to a long-running Achilles injury. Mageean had been targeting a return at September's World Championships. She made her Olympic debut at Rio 2016, and also featured at the 2021 Games in Tokyo, where injury also hampered her preparations. Mageean was crowned 2022 Athletics Ireland Athlete of the Year, and took the Middle Distance honour in 2024.
