HBO's ‘Harry Potter' Studio Builds a School for Child Actors to Attend During Filming Over the Next 8 to 10 Years
Per the BBC, Three Rivers District Council is permitting the studio to 'use a series of portable buildings as a school facility for the next decade. The proposed classrooms have been designed to be used by up to 600 pupils during peak periods, when large crowd scenes are shot, but will typically serve about 150 students. It will operate on weekdays between 5:30am and 8:30pm so young actors can fit in their actual studies between night shoots, reshoots and location filming.'

‘General Hospital' star Tristan Rogers reveals cancer diagnosis
Tristan Rogers has been diagnosed with cancer. The soap star, 79, shared his health battle with fans through his publicist, Anthony Turk, on Thursday, July 17. 'Beloved Emmy-winning actor Tristan Rogers, best known for his role as Robert Scorpio on the daytime drama, 'General Hospital,' is sharing with fans that he has been diagnosed with cancer,' Turk's statement obtained by Soap Opera Digest read. 10 'General Hospital' stars Tristan Rogers, Edie Lehmann Boddicker in 1988. ©ABC/Courtesy Everett Collection 'While he remains hopeful and is working closely with his medical team on a treatment plan, this is a challenging time for Tristan and his family. As they face both the emotional and physical burdens that come with this diagnosis, the family kindly asks for privacy and understanding,' he continued. The actor's longtime friend noted how much Rogers and his family appreciate those around them. 'They are deeply grateful for the outpouring of support and love from their friends and family. Tristan sends his love to his fans and wants them to know how much he appreciates their loyalty and encouragement over the years,' the statement concluded. 'This support means more to him now than ever. Future updates will be shared if deemed appropriate by Tristan and his family.' He did not reveal what kind of cancer Rogers was battling. He's made several returns to Port Charles over the decades. In 2018, he told Soap Opera Digest why he loves playing the beloved district attorney. 'Robert has always had kind of a glib approach to everything; he's a bit of a smart-mouth,' he told the outlet. 10 Tristan Rogers, Emma Samms, and Anthony Geary on the soap opera. ABC 'I'm working with a lot of different people,' he added of his comeback. 'And I think the fans are going to like it.' Fans last saw Robert on their screens in November, when he left town with his ex-wife, Holly Sutton, played by Emma Samms. Rogers is no stranger to the soap scene, as he played Hunter on 'The Bold and Beautiful' in 1997 and Colin on 'Young and Restless' from 2010 to 2012, 2014 to 2017 and again in 2019. 10 Tristan Rogers, John J. 'General Hospital,' which is currently in its 62nd season after debuting in 1963, has continued to have many cast shake-ups in recent years. Kelly Monaco, who starred as Sam McCall from 2003 to 2024, blasted the soap in August 2024 when they fired her after 21 years, claiming it was 'retaliation.' 10 Tristan Rogers, Emma Samms hug one another in a picture from 'General Hospital.' ©ABC/Courtesy Everett Collection Soon after, Brooklyn Rae Silzer, who portrayed Emma Drake for 13 years, was replaced by Braedyn Bruner. At the time, the actress, 19, wrote on X that she was 'forever grateful' for her spot on the daytime series. Earlier this month, Eva LaRue announced her exit from the series just one year after joining the beloved soap opera as Natalia Rogers-Ramirez. 'I was originally only supposed to be on the show for a couple of months,' LaRue told Soap Digest on July 1. 'And it ended up being a much longer run, which was great — and really fun because there are so many 'All My Children' actors there and so it felt like home.' Days later, Kirsten Storms revealed she is taking an extended break from 'General Hospital' after playing Maxie Jones since 2005. 'I'm very excited to be making Tennessee my home! I can't wait to return to GH, once Harper and I are settled in our new town,' the star, 41, wrote on Instagram. 'I plan on documenting as much of this new journey on my social media as I can. The actor, 71, starred in over 1,700 episodes of the soap. Shriner also reprised his role on the short-lived spin-off, 'Port Charles,' from 1997 to 2002. Disney Despite his message, the soap vet continued to appear on the show until last summer. In September 2024, Shriner seemingly confirmed the news to fans on X. One viewer took to the social media platform to question why Scott had just disappeared with no mention, writing: 'Wow, nothing like disrespecting your longest serving character…#GH.' Shriner retweeted the post, adding, 'I don't understand any of it, I went to get glazed donuts and coffee for the doctor!!' 10 Steve Burton (Jason) and Kelly Monaco (Sam) in a scene from 'General Hospital.' ABC In February, Cassandra James, who plays Dr. Terry Randolph, explained that fan favorites never stay gone for long. 'Well, here's the thing about a legacy like 'General Hospital,'' the actress told The Post at the time. 'Our anniversary is coming up this year. We're turning 62 this year. So, while there are definitely legacy actors who have left the show for many, you know, any number of reasons, the world of Port Charles is so big, and there are so many amazing places that the production can take the story. 'So, I think the fans have nothing to worry about. There's definitely, you know, there's always someone coming back to town,' teased James. 'There's always legacy actors being shuffled around, coming back to the show. So, you're never going to, you know, miss out on much.' 10 Kirsten Storms as Maxie Jones. Disney via Getty Images She also touched on the death of her late co-star, Leslie Charleson — who played Dr. Monica Quartermaine for almost 50 years — after she passed away from blunt force trauma in January. 'We're all really saddened by the loss. And, to be honest, my favorite thing about Leslie is she had a really wonderful sense of humor,' James reminisced.

Billy Joel is a 'fighter' in wake of brain disorder health battle
Sing us a song, piano man. The new documentary 'Billy Joel: And So It Goes' covers the life and career of the legendary musician, 76, featuring interviews with Joel, family members, his ex-wife Christie Brinkley, and fellow industry heavyweights such as Bruce Springsteen and Paul McCartney. 'I asked [Joel] … at the very beginning – if there were any sensitive areas. Not that I would have necessarily stayed away from them, but I wanted to know what they were,' co-director Susan Lacy exclusively told The Post. 'And his answer to that was, 'tell the truth. That's the only way to go.' She explained that while probing into the 'Vienna' singer's life, 'nothing was off limits.' 10 The Billy Joel documentary 'And So It Goes.' HBO 10 Billy Joel in 1981. 'And we took that as permission to tell the real story about Billy Joel.' In fact, the 'Uptown Girl' crooner had no editorial control over the film. 'I think it was courageous of him to give us that carte blanche and trust in us to tell that story – because not everybody would do that,' co-director Jessica Levin told The Post. 'I think he realized, 'I need to do my part, and try to go places where it might not be 100 comfortable for me.'' 10 Billy Joel performs during the 66th Grammy Awards on February 4, 2024 in Los Angeles, California. HBO The film covers topics such as Joel's suicide attempt in his twenties, after he had an affair with his friend's wife – Elizabeth Weber, who would become Joel's first wife from 1973 to 1982. Joel then went on to marry Brinkley, 71, from 1985 to 1994, with whom he shares daughter Alexa Ray Joel, 39; Katie Lee from 2004 to 2009, and he tied the knot with his current wife, Alexis Roderick, in 2015. AFP via Getty Images In the documentary, Joel sounds matter of fact about his attempt to take his own life. 'It was a long time ago. He was young, and he was heartbroken. He felt quite lost at that point,' Lacy said. 'There were a lot of emotional elements going on. He just didn't know which way to turn.' Levin chimed in: 'I think it's important that it's not that he doesn't take suicide and depression seriously. He certainly takes those topics seriously. But for him, it was a very early moment in his career….Honestly, Billy is kind of a matter of fact guy and he's a guy that does try to build and move on.' 10 Alexis Roderick, Della Rose Joel, Billy Joel, and Remy Anne Joel attend the 66th Grammy Awards on February 4, 2024 in Los Angeles, California. 'He thanked me for so masterfully connecting the dots of his life and said that he now knew why he did what he did.' 'There's a real dichotomy with Billy – a man who put his life out there in his lyrics, but he doesn't believe in self-examination particularly….He put it in his music. And that saved his life,' she went on. 'He used music to cope with his life and to express his life and to what was going on. But I don't think he ever stood back and went, 'let's see how these dots connect with each other.' And that's what we did in this film.' 10 Billy Joel in 1978. 'Which is, and, so it goes. 'I'm going to move on [from setbacks] and I'm not finished yet.' And here he is today, with this incredibly strong woman as his wife and these beautiful daughters,' Levin told The Post. 'It's important to him to stay around as long as he can for his children and his family. He cares deeply about that. He is the ultimate romantic.' ‘Arcane' Season 2 Gets a Lavish Home Release, Just in Time for Emmy Season
With Emmy season in full swing and a lot of eyes on whether Riot Games and Fortiche's League of Legends studio will sweep an already steep competitive lineup of animated shows, GKids has announced a slew of home release pre-order editions for Arcane season two, freeing it from the confines of streaming. In a press release, GKids announced that the home release of Arcane season two will feature a limited-run Collector's Edition. This will include SteelBook Editions in both 4K UHD and Blu-ray formats, a standard Blu-ray edition, and options for Digital Download-to-Own. Bonus features in Arcane's home release will include an artist gallery, a writer's room, and artist breakdowns of its three acts, as well as storyboards and music videos. All editions of Arcane season two are available for pre-order on GKids' website. GKids' home video pre-orders announcement for Arcane season two comes following the animated video game adaptation's two Emmy nominations for Outstanding Animated Program and Outstanding Sound Editing. In the series' history, Arcane has been nominated for seven Emmys, making it one of the most decorated video game-adapted series ever. To celebrate this achievement, Fortiche released an illustration of Jinx, a tradition it's established whenever Arcane is mentioned during awards season. Given that 2024 was a banner year for animation, it remains to be seen if Arcane can achieve similar success with its second and final season, potentially bringing home more awards. This success has notably legitimized video game adaptations as a valuable and worthwhile pursuit in the entertainment industry, one worth nurturing—especially for Riot Games—in the years to come. Humbled to receive nominations at this year's #Emmys, including Outstanding Animated Program. Congratulations to cast and crew 💙 Artwork by our talented artists. ✨#Fortiche #Arcane #Fortichers — Fortiche prod (@ForticheProd) July 16, 2025While we preferred season one of Arcane over season two, io9's review celebrated the show for its poignant queer representation and its extraordinary animation. Fortunately, aside from Riot Games' 'Timebomb'-focused post-show music video, the company isn't showing any signs of slowing down in producing more animated adventures within the expansive world of League of Legends. In other words, fans can look forward to exploring different narratives from the game without having to play League itself—something both Riot Games co-founder Marc Merrill and players caution curious Netflix viewers about. Both seasons of Arcane are available to stream on Netflix. Want more io9 news?
