Jeffrey Epstein files: Ghislaine Maxwell is ready to reveal the 'truth'; offers to testify before Congress
Jeffery Epstein's former girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell is ready to testify before the US Congress about the Epstein files, UK news outlet Daily Mail reported citing sources.
Daily Mail reported that Maxwell, who is serving a 20-year sentence for child sex trafficking, is "more than happy to sit before Congress and tell her story."
However, the US government has never asked her to disclose what she knows.
Maxwell is also seeking to appeal her conviction in the US Supreme Court. On July 14, lawyers for the US government will submit their response to her plea for the Supreme Court to take up her case.
Maxwell was convicted in 2022 over her role in a scheme to help Epstein sexually exploit and abuse multiple underage girls over the course of a decade.
She argues that she should have been protected under a 2007 Non-Prosecution Agreement reached between Epstein and prosecutors.
In that deal, he pleaded guilty to two minor charges of prosecution and had to spend little time behind bars.
The source further added that while Trump was seen with Epstein in public and social events, he was also one of the first to cut ties with him, reportedly due to a business dispute and Epstein's treatment of women.
"There are no big shocks about President Trump in the Epstein Files. But there are a lot of powerful men involved and a lot of money and it will come down to following the money," it added.

This comes amid the ongoing criticism of the Trump administration after the department of justice's claim that there is no Epstein 'client list' and over surveillance footage from the jail where Epstein died in 2019. he DOJ maintains that Epstein died by suicide in a New York jail cell while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. However, critics have pointed to a missing portion of the jail video, which does not show the jail door or the inside of Epstein's cell.
The DOJ has stated that no further prosecutions are expected in connection with Epstein's case. That includes British royal Prince Andrew, who was accused by Virginia Giuffre of sexually abusing her when she was 17. Prince Andrew has denied the allegations and settled a civil case with Giuffre without admitting any wrongdoing.
Responding to the accusations on Saturday, in a lengthy post on Truth Social, Trump posted 'For years, it's Epstein, over and over again. Why are we not giving publicity to files written by Obama, Crooked Hillary, Comey, Brennan and the losers and criminals of the Biden administration?'
A source close to Maxwell said she 'would welcome the chance to sit in front of Congress and tell her story."
The source added that the Epstein Files are as significant as other historic cases that have led to congressional hearings, such as former President John F Kennedy's assassination and 9/11 attacks.
This has sparked criticism among MAGA allies of Trump, with some accusing the Justice Department of covering up details of the case. Some of Trump's supporters have also blamed Attorney General Pam Bondi for failing to release all files related to Epstein and his alleged associates.
Several of Epstein's victims have claimed they were abused by the financier and passed around to his wealthy friends and powerful associates, including those who visited his private island, Little Saint James.

Department of Veterans Affairs layoffs: Trump's plan to sack over 83,000 junked, VA plans to shed employees through retirements and resignations
The US Department of Veterans Affairs had in March 2025 planned to layoff nearly 83,000 employees to bring down the total strength to less than 400,000, a figure which it had in 2019 before the Covid pandemic wreaked havoc across the world. The massive shedding of employees was to a part of the massive restructuring of the federal government following President Donald Trump 's orders to bring down the cost. But the plan to fire more 83,000 employees, which was confirmed by a memo sent by VA Chief of Staff Christopher Syrek , seems to have been shelved. However, the VA said Monday (July 14), it still plans to bring down the employee strength. This will be undertaken by resignations and retirements. The numbers by which the employee strenth will go down - 30,000, a figure much less than the over 80,000 circulating in March 2025. "The Department of Veterans Affairs today announced it's on pace to reduce total VA staff by nearly 30,000 employees by the end of fiscal year 2025, eliminating the need for a large-scale reduction-in-force," a VA press release dated July 7 stated. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 15 Most Beautiful Female Athletes in the World Click Here Undo It went on to highlight the number of employees in the department had come down in the first five month of 2025. The numbers break down as follows: VA had roughly 484,000 employees on Jan. 1, 2025, and 467,000 employees as of June 1, 2025 - a reduction of nearly 17,000. Between now and Sept. 30, the department expects nearly 12,000 additional VA employees to exit through normal attrition, voluntary early retirement authority ) or the deferred resignation program. VA has multiple safeguards in place to ensure these staff reductions do not impact Veteran care or benefits. All VA mission-critical positions are exempt from the DRP and VERA, and more than 350,000 positions are exempt from the federal hiring freeze." Trump's initial plan saw military veterans and Democrats voicing their strong protest. They were joined by a small group of Republicans too. Investors brace for Japan bond market blowout as election nears
Japanese government bond investors are bracing for a potential power shift in upper house elections this weekend that could strain the country's already frail finances, with long-dated yields soaring to all-time highs as the vote nears. Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba 's sliding popularity suggests even his modest goal of retaining a majority is unachievable, with a new opinion poll from national broadcaster NHK handing the ruling Liberal Democratic Party its lowest score since its return to power in 2012. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Struggling With Belly Fat? The allotment to investors is scheduled for July 21, with a greenshoe option of ₹25 crore. These bonds will be privately placed with institutional investors, and the interest will be paid monthly. Here are 10 things to know Browse all Bonds News with All three of the leading opposition parties espouse some form of consumption tax cuts , with the rapidly emerging populist, right-wing Sanseito party proposing a phasing out of VAT altogether. Meanwhile, one of Ishiba's main rivals for leadership of the LDP is reflationist Sanae Takaichi . The 30-year JGB yield jumped to a record 3.195% on Tuesday, while the 20-year yield soared to the highest since November 1999 at 2.65% and the 10-year yield climbed to the highest since October 2008 at 1.595%. Live Events "As the noise towards yet more fiscal spending picks up, we have increased our underweight in Japan as a whole," said Ales Koutny, head of international rates at Vanguard. "Japan is going down a similar path as the UK did a couple of years ago," Koutny said. "If no fiscal restraint, then the bond market will start to put pressure on the economy." Japan's debt burden is the highest in the developed world at about 250% of GDP. Concerns about promises of fiscal largesse from opposition parties helped fuel a sell-off in so-called super-long JGB yields in late May, sending 30-year yields to then-record peaks at 3.185% and 40-year yields to an unprecedented 3.675%. The 40-year bond had yet to trade as of 0325 GMT on Tuesday. The Ministry of Finance was able to restore some calm to the market with plans to reduce issuance of 20-, 30- and 40-year bonds to address a supply-demand imbalance for those tenors, after traditional demand from life insurers dropped sharply this year. Finance Minister Katsunobu Kato said on Tuesday he is monitoring the market situation closely and will continue to work on appropriate debt management to maintain investor confidence. Meanwhile, the Bank of Japan 's reticence to raise interest rates further against an uncertain global economic backdrop has also encouraged investors to stay sidelined. "If such a demand-less market continues and investors foresee no rate hikes within this fiscal year, JGB volatility will go up, especially in the long end," said Kentaro Hatono, a fund manager at Asset Management One, who says he's adopting a "wait-and-see" stance due to the risks of the yield curve steepening after the election outcome. Barclays calculates that the rise in 30-year yields currently factors in about a three percentage-point cut to Japan's 10% consumption tax rate. "Even if the ruling parties retain their majority in the upper house, they would still be unable to pass budget bills, including the upcoming supplementary budget, without the cooperation of the opposition parties," the bank's Japan-based analysts wrote in a research note. "In this context, we believe there will likely be a convergence toward an expansionary budget proposal." Consumption tax cuts have been gaining sway with the public: a recent poll by the Asahi newspaper showed 68% of voters thought a sales tax cut was the best way to cushion the blow from rising living costs. Fiscally hawkish Ishiba has eschewed that option in favour of cash handouts. A poor election result for the ruling coalition will trigger a sell-off in super-long JGBs by so-called real money investors, including life insurers and institutional investors, predicts Toshinobu Chiba, a fund manager at Simplex Asset Management. "If the opposition parties win, the government deficit will see a huge expansion," Chiba said. "The JGB yield curve will steepen by a lot."
