Supercross 2025 betting, predictions, odds, picks, lines at Seattle: Cooper Webb slips

NBC Sports26-03-2025
When odds are as tight as they are in the Monster Energy Supercross series, bettors seek any indicator they can find. After last week's mostly disappointing run in Birmingham, Alabama, Cooper Webb's odds from the official oddsmaker, NXTBets.com, shifted from +130 to +150 for the outright win in Round 11 at Lumen Field in Seattle, Washington. That represents a respectable payout, but the gap between Webb and Chase Sexton closed from 50 points to 30.
This is Webb's highest line since he opened at +162 in Arlington, Texas.
Another indicator of the relative strength projected by NXTBets.com is the head-to-head matchup between the two favorites. On one hand, it's a tossup since both show minus odds, but Webb's -124 to Sexton's -107 is significant in how the traders view these riders' relative strength.
They are unwilling to go all-in on Sexton despite his Triple Crown format win in Birmingham. Sexton may believe this is the beginning of a second-half surge, but his odds remain unchanged at +180. Sexton has shown that line for the past three weeks after he showed steady improvement from Detroit (+154 for the outright win), to Arlington (+144), and Daytona (+140). Even if Sexton does not win this week, his odds will likely shorten if he finishes on the podium. Sexton's podium odds this week are -228.
Riding with a separated AC in his shoulder, Ken Roczen's shot at the championship is diminishing, but he remains NXTBets.com's third-favored rider. However, his odds are beginning to stretch from +400 in Birmingham to +488 in Seattle.
SEATTLE LONGSHOTS
Projecting a rider's strength based on overall results in a Triple Crown format race can be difficult. When a racer is consistent in his weekend performance, however, it becomes easier, and Justin Cooper's (+1772) 6-7-6 last week for a sixth-place overall indicates a modest struggle. That snapped a five-race streak of top-five finishes. He was coming off his first podium of the season and, as a result, had his podium odds lowered to +285. He is even lower still this week with a line of +270 to stand on the podium for the second time this season. With respect, Cooper needs to show he can finish races strong before he's a good value under 3/1.
Malcolm Stewart (+1984) showed moxie in Birmingham. Riding in severe pain after suffering a hip injury in qualification, he swept the podium in the three features and scored his second podium of the season. His first trip to the box was a victory in Tampa before he spent the next four weeks off the box. Bettors who believe he will sustain his momentum may wish to place a modest wager for him to podium with odds of +287.
Stewart and Aaron Plessinger (+1573) were both surprise podium finishers in Birmingham, and they are featured in another head-to-head matchup by NXTBets.com. Plessinger has the slight advantage with a -122 to Stewart's -109, but based on their average finish in the season, the advantage goes to Stewart with a 6.4 to Plessinger's 9.7.

Hulk Hogan's son appears at WWE's 'RAW' to help honor father after his death

Nick Hogan, the son of pro wrestling icon Hulk Hogan, appeared on WWE's "Monday Night Raw" and stood front and center with his wife as the organization paid tribute to his father. Hogan was spotted near WWE executive Bruce Prichard and former pro wrestling executive Eric Bischoff. The "Raw" roster was also out on stage as a 10-bell salute was performed. "Ladies and gentlemen, we lost one of the biggest and globally recognized icons in the world. A man I grew up watching, was fortunate enough to share the ring with, and like so many of us, were honored to call a friend," WWE Chief Content Officer Paul "Triple H" Levesque said. "The truth is, he captivated millions and millions of people and inspired them around the globe. We would not be standing here right now, all of us together, if it was not for him." "Monday Night Raw" took place in Detroit. The crowd chanted his name as the WWE played a video montage to honor him. The company did something similar on "Friday Night SmackDown." Hulk Hogan died on Thursday after he suffered a cardiac event at his Florida home. He was 71. Nick Hogan offered a touching tribute to his father. "This has been overwhelming and extremely difficult," he wrote on Instagram. "Hearing so many kinds words and stories about my dad's life, interactions and experiences with everyone has been incredible and comforting. My dad was the most incredible person I've ever known and will always be my hero. He was the most kind, loving and amazing father anybody could ask for. "I spent a lot of time with him the past few years after moving back to Florida to be closer to him and I am so grateful for those memories. They are the best moments in my life. I would do anything to have him back, but I know now that he will always be watching over me. I will always remember the lessons and advice he gave me and carry on in a way that I know would make him proud. "Thank you for being the best dad in the world and thank you for being my best friend. I love you so much Big Dog and I will miss you forever." Nick is the son of the "Hulkster" and his ex-wife Linda, who also share a daughter, Brooke. Hulk and Linda Hogan filed for divorce in 2007.

MLB trade deadline rumors: Latest news and updates from around baseball

Now just two days from Major League Baseball's trade deadline, the market held its collective breath on Monday when Eugenio Suárez was hit by a pitch on the hand and removed from Arizona's game. But X-rays came back negative on the Diamondbacks slugger, presumed to be the top bat available before Thursday's 6 p.m. deadline. The AL Central-leading Tigers added a pair of arms, making an in-division trade with the Minnesota Twins to add right-handers Chris Paddack and Randy Dobnak. Detroit officially lost starter Reece Olson for the season with a shoulder injury earlier in the day Monday. Potential suitors will be keeping a close eye on Arizona for an injury update on Suárez, while the Orioles play a doubleheader against the Toronto Blue Jays with some Baltimore players possibly making their last appearance for the team – including 41-year-old starter Charlie Morton. Follow along for the latest news and rumors on Tuesday: Chris Paddack, Randy Dobnak traded to Twins The Tigers acquired right-handers Chris Paddack and Randy Dobnak from the Minnesota Twins on Monday, July 28 — just three days before the MLB trade deadline, which is set for 6 p.m. Thursday, July 31. Although Paddack becomes a free agent after 2025, Dobnak has team options for 2026, 2027 and 2028. Trading for Paddack was sparked by right-hander Reese Olson suffering a right shoulder strain. He has been ruled out for the remainder of the regular season, but there's still a chance he returns for the postseason. "It's really an unfortunate piece of news for Reese," Tigers president of baseball operations Scott Harris said. "We really feel for him. But we are excited to strengthen our pitching before the trade deadline, and we're really excited to add Chris to the mix." – Evan Petzold, Detroit Free Press Eugenio Suárez injury update USA TODAY Sports' Bob Nightengale confirmed that Eugenio Suárez underwent X-rays, which came back negative. Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo told reporters that Suárez's left hand and finger were "tender to the touch," according to The Athletic's Cody Stavenhagen. Lovullo added that Suárez is day-to-day for now. "The good thing right now is we did the X-ray, and it was negative," Suárez said after the game. "We got more tests to do tomorrow. Right now, it's painful, obviously." Braves add Erick Fedde With all five members of their opening day rotation now on the injured list, the struggling Atlanta Braves have added a veteran starter. Erick Fedde, who was designated for assignment by the St. Louis Cardinals last week, fills the void in Atlanta's rotation after Grant Holmes hit the injured list with elbow inflammation. He joins fellow rotation mates Chris Sale, Spencer Schwellenbach, Reynaldo Lopez and A.J. Smith-Shawver on the 60-day IL. The Braves acquired Fedde (3-10, 5.22 ERA this season) in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations. Yankees trade Carlos Carrasco Dealing with the pitching-strapped Braves on Monday, the Yankees traded veteran right-hander Carlos Carrasco to Atlanta. In announcing the trade prior to their Monday night series opener against the Rays at Yankee Stadium, the Yankees said they will receive cash considerations from the Braves. Carrasco, 38, had been in the rotation for the Yanks' Class AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre affiliate, posting a 3.27 ERA in 11 games (10 starts) with 38 strikeouts in 52⅓ innings. – Pete Caldera, This article originally appeared on USA TODAY: MLB trade deadline rumors, latest news and updates

Detroit Tigers grade for Chris Paddack trade: Nobody better to replace Reese Olson?

The Detroit Tigers acquired right-handers Chris Paddack and Randy Dobnak for catching prospect Enrique Jimenez in a trade Monday, July 28, with the Minnesota Twins. Here's how Evan Petzold, the Tigers beat writer for the Detroit Free Press, evaluates the Paddack trade ahead of the 2025 MLB trade deadline, providing a grade and analysis. Detroit Tigers trade for Chris Paddack, Randy Dobnak Tigers acquire: RHP Chris Paddack, RHP Randy Dobnak. Twins acquire: C Enrique Jimenez. Grade: D+. THE TRADE: Tigers trade for Chris Paddack, Randy Dobnak from Twins The buzz: Who are the top rental starting pitchers available as the trade deadline approaches? Five impending free agents stand out: Merrill Kelly (Arizona Diamondbacks), Adrian Houser (Chicago White Sox), Charlie Morton (Baltimore Orioles), Andrew Heaney (Pittsburgh Pirates) and Zac Gallen (Diamondbacks). When the Tigers found out Reese Olson, their second-best starter who owns a 3.15 ERA in 13 starts, would miss the remainder of the regular season (and possibly the postseason) with a right shoulder strain, president of baseball operations Scott Harris moved quickly to find a short-term replacement in the starting rotation. The Tigers ended up trading for right-hander Chris Paddack (along with right-hander Randy Dobnak) from the Twins, with Paddack set to fill Olson's spot and Dobnak reporting to Triple-A Toledo. The problem: Paddack has been bad, and Dobnak has been even worse. Paddack, 29, has a 4.95 ERA in MLB, with 27 walks and 83 strikeouts over 111 innings in 21 starts; Dobnak, 30, has a 7.12 ERA in Triple-A, with 35 walks and 42 strikeouts over 60⅔ innings in 17 games (10 starts). To acquire those arms, the Tigers gave up switch-hitting catcher Enrique Jimenez — their top international signee in the 2023 class, who signed for $1.25 million out of Venezuela. The 19-year-old ranked as the Tigers' No. 14 prospect (before becoming the Twins' No. 20 prospect), according to MLB Pipeline. The headliner of the trade is Paddack, a below-average starter who is expected to take the ball every five days, eat innings, fill up the strike zone and flash a 5.00 ERA. He limits walks, but he doesn't generate whiffs or strikeouts. His status as a fly-ball pitcher bodes well for Comerica Park. He probably isn't any better than Keider Montero, who the Tigers recently optioned to Triple-A Toledo. Paddack is responsible for a 4.49 ERA in his seven-year MLB career, spanning 106 games (103 starts). LET'S MAKE A DEAL: Eugenio Suárez trade: What Tigers could give up to get him from Diamondbacks Aside from performance, the concern is that Paddack has already completed 111 innings. Until now, he hasn't thrown more than 108⅓ innings in a single season since 2019, when he tossed more than 140 innings. The reason for part of that: Paddack underwent Tommy John surgery in both 2016 and 2022 to repair the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow: If he wants to eat innings, then he needs to stay healthy. The Tigers' rotation, led by ace Tarik Skubal, boasts a 3.58 ERA in the 2025 season, ranking sixth among the 30 teams, but in July, the Tigers rank 20th with a 4.61 ERA from their rotation. It's possible Paddack fails to help the Tigers improve (while Dobnak wastes away in Triple-A Toledo) − but Kelly, Houser, Morton and the other aforementioned starters would've given the rotation a better chance for success, especially during a postseason run with World Series dreams.
