Jamestown woman arrested on suspicion of child abuse

May 10—JAMESTOWN — A Jamestown woman was arrested Friday, May 9, after reports of a 6-month-old child suffering a spiral fracture of the arm while under the care of an unlicensed child care provider, according to Lt. Sid Mann with the Jamestown Police Department.
Deborah E Jespersen, 55, was arrested on charges of child abuse-victim under 6 years old, a Class A felony, and providing early childhood services after her license was revoked, a Class B misdemeanor, Mann said.
Jespersen is in the Stutsman County Correctional Center where she awaits formal charges from the Stutsman County state's attorney.
Mann said the Jamestown Police Department completed an investigation on Friday into allegations of child abuse with a victim under 6 years old and providing childhood services after having a license revoked. He said the department obtained initial reports on April 29 of the 6-month-old victim suffering a fracture of the arm while under the care of an unlicensed child care provider.
Mann said the Jamestown Police Department executed a search warrant at Jespersen's residence and seized evidence related to the initially reported crimes.

Three people were hospitalized after a fire spread to two buildings in Logan Square on Sunday night. Police said firefighters responded to the fire around 10 p.m., which had spread to two buildings in the 1900 block of North Central Park Avenue. Video from the scene showed fire crews working to contain the fire as flames tore through the roof of one of the buildings. Police said three people were able to safely escape the fire. A woman was taken to Stroger Hospital for smoke inhalation and was listed in serious condition. Two men were also taken to Stroger Hospital and are listed in fair condition. The Chicago Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire.
