Greenacres landmark restaurant serves everything from "biscuits and gravy to duck a l'orange"

Though regrettably overlooked in our recent list of iconic Palm Beach County restaurants, Mom's Kitchen in Greenacres definitely fits the bill, having been around for at least 40 years.
This classic restaurant has been in the same location on Lake Worth Road since 1980 and is now in its fifth decade of serving delicious meals. (While several of the staff have been around for decades, Mom's is operating under a "new" owner, who bought the place in 2021. )
The menu at Mom's is massive and incredibly diverse. Owner Alison Cohen said "At Mom's Kitchen you can have anything from biscuits and gravy to duck à l'orange."
When she says anything, it's not much of an exaggeration. The breakfast and lunch menu alone is eight pages.
All dishes served at Mom's Kitchen follow the house slogan of "Homemade from the Heart." Again this is not hyperbole as Cohen stresses that they make everything from scratch including all of their sauces.
Their turkey dinner is one of the most popular dishes. The turkey is roasted in-house and carved to order. Their rigatoni ala vodka, meatloaf, pot roast and even liver and onions are all favorites as well.
On the breakfast side, the country fried steak with sausage gravy is a huge hit along with the two egg breakfast which garners some of its popularity with the choice of meat option that includes steak, ham, chorizo, corned beef hash and even pork chops.
There are also three-egg omelettes, pancakes, waffles and much more. One specialty dish is the strawberry cheesecake waffle. It's made with strawberry waffle batter and is served with strawberries on top, cheesecake icing and whipped cream.
Handling a menu as diverse as Mom's Kitchen requires serious skill.
Though executive chef Paulin Ornelas has been at the restaurant for the past 29 years and proven his mettle, Cohen said that when hiring a new chef a "working interview is always required." Taking a page from the movie "The Hundred-Foot Journey" starring Helen Mirren, Cohen says she always has them make her an omelette.
"We customize everything for our customers. You gotta have mad skills if you're going to work at Mom's Kitchen," she said.
That vetting process has definitely paid off as Cohen beamed "I have amazing talent in the kitchen." She says she also has top-notch servers, some who've been there over 20 years.
That hard work and dedication is not overlooked. Cohen said that she celebrates all their birthdays and everyone gets a year-end bonus. "I treat them all like family."
Cohen bought Mom's Kitchen in February 2021 with then fiancé Greg Tria. She said they'd eaten at the local landmark a few years earlier and were so impressed that Tria remarked that he'd "love to own a restaurant like this."
As fate would have it, the owners were also their neighbors, and Cohen joked that it took several years to get them to sell — at a historic rough patch in the industry.
"Who buys a restaurant during Covid... crazy people," Cohen joked.
Tria worked the front of the restaurant and Alison, who was also working as an executive assistant to a high-net-worth individual, handled the financial aspects.
Sadly, Tria died in November 2023. Cohen said he was an incredibly kind and gregarious person and that, though they'd only owned Mom's Kitchen less than three years, his funeral service was standing room only and packed with Mom's customers.
Now the sole owner of Mom's Kitchen, Cohen said she dropped her day job and now runs the entire operation.
Though she said it's not an easy job by any stretch she's focused on keeping Mom's Kitchen "A super-friendly, welcoming place. That's very important to me, number one."
That drive is paying off. Cohen says they have customers who have been coming to the restaurant for a lifetime. "They came here as children and have come back with their children and grandchildren."

Neeson's new flame resembles his late wife Natasha, who died in a skiing accident almost two decades ago.

Andy Cohen is 'shipping' Hollywood icon Liam Neeson with his apparent new sweetheart Pamela Anderson, and he revealed Wednesday that Anderson is shockingly similar to the the actor's late wife Natasha Richardson. 'You know, Natasha was a dear friend of mine and I'm gonna tell you something,' Cohen said during Wednesday's episode of his 'Radio Andy' show. 'I, and all of the friends in this circle, are very much stanning whatever this is. Shipping.' Richardson died 16 years ago in a tragic skiing accident at only 45. Neeson, 73, has not been married since. But he and Anderson, 58, have been working together on the set of the new Naked Gun movie and the lovebirds just make sense. In fact, at the movie's premiere party, Cohen told him as much: 'I go, 'Liam, she is an independent woman, just like Tash was. She loves to cook. She has her own thing going on. She has two boys.'' Neeson also has two sons, Micheál and Daniel. 'I mean, this just works, and you know, she is a formidable human being, Pamela Anderson,' Cohen added. 'She really is. Like what she's been through and how she kind of reclaimed herself and redefined herself.' Neeson said that the two just had 'chemistry' on set: 'I had never met Pamela before. We met on set. And we discovered we had a lovely budding chemistry as two actors.'

‘Futurama' Cast, Producers Joke About Their Frequent Cancellations, Tease Upcoming Guests and Storylines

'Futurama' is heading back from the future. Exec producer David X. Cohen revealed that next year's season finale will explore more of the backstory of Fry and his brother as kids. 'We are going to work work that gold mine a little bit more next year, 2026,' he told the audience at the show's San Diego Comic-Con panel on Saturday. Creator Matt Groening was joined by Cohen, as well as executive producers Claudia Katz and Ken Keeler, supervising director Peter Avanzino, and Futurama stars Billy West (Fry, the Professor, Zoidberg), Lauren Tom (Amy), Phil LaMarr (Hermes), David Herman (Scruffy) and Maurice LaMarche (Kif). The stars kicked the panel off with a table read of the upcoming Season 13's sixth episode. Hulu recently announced that it was switching to an all-at once binge for 'Futurama' as it returns in September for Season 13. As Variety first reported, all 10 episodes from the new season will premiere at the same time on September 15 at 5 p.m. PT / 8 p.m. ET. 'You are the collective superhero who has saved us so many times in the past,' Cohen said, referring to the show's several cancellations and revivals over the years. 'This an all-new system we're going to test out this year, the 10 episode binge-a-thon on September 15. So we're just giving you some instructions here, in case you've forgotten… You just sit down and you watch each episode eight times!' That's a switch from most recent two seasons of the revival, as Hulu released Season 11 in 2023 and Season 12 in 2024 on a weekly basis. 'Futurama' Season 13 will also premiere on linear cabler FXX on Sept. 15 at 8 p.m. ET, with two episodes weekly. During the Q&A portion of the 'Futurama' panel, a surprise fan showed up to the microphone: 'Mad TV' star Orlando Jones, who had a 'time travel ethics question. If Fry keeps messing with the timeline, but if he could go back and stop himself from writing that awful jacket in college, would you pitch in to fund therapy for his future mistakes, or let him choke on fashion?' One panelist's answer: 'Is that a question or a sketch?' Hulu noted that per Nielsen, 'Futurama' was among the top 10 streaming originals of 2024. Hulu announced in November 2023 that 'Futurama' had been renewed for two more seasons, taking it through Season 14 in 2026. Here's the show's Season 13 logline: 'Bender is rampaging out of control! A volcano is about to explode! Fry confronts a rival for Leela's love! And Dr. Zoidberg is rising up to heaven?! The excitement might be too much! You've been warned… it's an all new season of 'Futurama'!' 'Futurama' comes from 20th Television Animation. It stars John DiMaggio (Bender), Billy West (Fry, the Professor, Zoidberg), Katey Sagal (Leela), Tress MacNeille (Mom), Maurice LaMarche (Kif), Lauren Tom (Amy), Phil LaMarr (Hermes) and David Herman (Scruffy). MacNeille and Herman were added to the main cast this season. 'Futurama' was created by Matt Groening and developed by Groening and David X. Cohen. Executive producers include Groening, Cohen, Ken Keeler and Claudia Katz. Animation is provided by Rough Draft Studios. Sacha Baron Cohen's ripped new look for Marvel role has fans doing a double take

Sacha Baron Cohen broke the internet with his new look. Cohen posed for Men's Fitness UK, debuting his toned body. The actor has been preparing for his role as Marvel's newest villain, Mephisto, in the miniseries "Ironheart." "I'm sorry, but thirst trap Borat was not on my 2025 bingo card," one user commented on the photo of Cohen showing off his fit physique, while another wrote, "Is this AI?" "This is not AI," Cohen answered on his Instagram stories. "I really am egotistical enough to do this." Cohen continued to make quips on his Instagram stories as he shared different photos from the shoot. "Some celebs use Ozempic, some use private chefs, others use personal trainers. I did all three," he wrote. "Debuting my new character: Middle aged man who replaced beer with protein shakes." According to Cohen, he spent 25 minutes a day with a personal trainer. "I now believe that just 20 to 30 minutes of movement a day can make a real difference," he told Men's Fitness UK. "And it's something anyone can fit into their routine, especially celebrities with personal assistants to do all the boring stuff like shopping and attending friends' funerals." He added, "In the past, I would've thought you needed hour-long sessions. But the short sessions made it so much easier to stay consistent – even with the demands of being on set." Cohen debuted his new look after he finalized his divorce from ex-wife Isla Fisher in June. The two announced their split in April 2024. "After a long tennis match lasting over twenty years, we are finally putting our racquets down," a joint statement shared by the couple at the time read. "In 2023 we jointly filed to end our marriage. We have always prioritized our privacy, and have been quietly working through this change." "We forever share in our devotion and love for our children," they added. "We sincerely appreciate your respecting our family's wish for privacy." At the time, Cohen was dealing with bold accusations from his former co-star, Rebel Wilson. The actress accused Cohen of harassing her on the set of "The Brothers Grimsby." A representative for Cohen slammed Wilson's accusation as "demonstrably false." "While we appreciate the importance of speaking out, these demonstrably false claims are directly contradicted by extensive detailed evidence, including contemporaneous documents, film footage, and eyewitness accounts from those present before, during and after the production of 'The Brothers Grimsby,'" the representative told Fox News Digital.
