Pulsus Group Chief Executive Officer Gedela Srinubabu has urged the Andhra Pradesh government to develop the Pydibhimavaram-Etchera stretch of Srikakulam district as a Pharma Innovation Centre, pointing out that many bulk drug industries have been set up along the strtech.
Participating in the convocation of Pharma-D graduates of Sri Venkateswara College of Pharmacy at Etcherla on Saturday, he said that the migration of students to other States and countries would decrease if industries, research centres, and laboratories are established in the region.
Citing the statistics available with the Central government, he said India's pharmaceutical market, which was around USD 17.79 billion in 2023, is projected to touch USD 35.38 billion by 2030.

Warren Buffett announces USD 6 billion in donations to five foundations

New York, Jun 28 (AP) Famed investor Warren Buffett is donating USD 6 billion worth of his company's stock to five foundations, bringing the total he has given to them since 2006 to roughly $60 billion, based on their value when received. Buffett said the shares of Berkshire Hathaway will be delivered on Monday. Berkshire Hathaway owns Geico, Dairy Queen and a range of other businesses, and Buffett is donating nearly 12.4 million of the Class B shares of its stock. Those shares have a lower and easier-to-digest price tag than the company's original Class A shares, and each of the B shares was worth USD 485.68 at their most recent close on Friday. The largest tranche is going to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Trust, which will receive 9.4 million shares. The Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation will receive 943,384 shares, and the Sherwood Foundation, Howard G Buffett Foundation and NoVo Foundation will each receive 660,366 shares. Buffett made waves a year ago when he said he plans to cut off donations to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation after his death and let his three children decide how to distribute the rest of his fortune. Berkshire Hathaway's Class B stock has climbed 19.1 per cent over the last 12 months, topping the broad US stock market's return of 14.1 per cent, including dividends. Buffett is famous on Wall Street for buying companies at good prices and being more conservative when prices look too high. The bargain-hunting approach has helped him amass a fortune worth about USD 145 billion, with basically all of it in Berkshire Hathaway's stock. 'Nothing extraordinary has occurred at Berkshire; a very long runway, simple and generally sound decisions, the American tailwind and compounding effects produced my current wealth,' Buffett said in a statement. 'My will provides that about 99½% of my estate is destined for philanthropic usage.' (AP) ARI

Israel Iran War 'US Used Up Its 20% Stock To Support Israel' Trump Netanyahu THAAD

The United States spent a total of 15 to 20 percent of its advanced anti-missile system Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) to strengthen defence against Iran's airstrikes during the 12-day conflict this month, which erupted after Israel launched a surprise attack on Tehran. According to Military Watch Magazine, between 60 to 80 THAAD interceptors were used during the conflict. A single launch of a THAAD interceptor costs between USD 12 million to 15 million (Rs 102 crore to 128 crore; as per today's exchange rate), which means the entire cost of the usage of these interceptors during the recent conflict falls between USD 810 million to USD 1.215 billion. India will continue to grow robustly, even among major industrialised G7 countries: PHDCCI

New Delhi [India], June 28 (ANI): India will continue to grow robustly, even among major industrialised G7 countries, the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) said in a report on 'Population, Productivity, Partnership: Rethinking G7-India Collaboration'. The PHDCCI report added that with an average real GDP growth of more than 8 per cent from 2021 to 2024, India has consistently outpaced all G7 countries: Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States. IMF's 2025 projections indicate that India will maintain a growth trajectory above 6 per cent (average) through 2029, supported by robust domestic demand, sound macroeconomic fundamentals, and its demographic dividend, the report said. 'India's consistent real GDP growth makes it the key growth driver for the world economy. The transformative reforms, including GST, the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Act, the Production Linked Incentive Scheme, growing digital infrastructure (Aadhaar and UPI) and Make in India, among others, are strengthening India's ascendancy in the World', said Hemant Jain, President, PHDCCI. The objective of the report was to assess India's growth and trade dynamics among G7 economies. In terms of purchasing-power-parity (PPP) terms, India's share in global GDP has surged from 7.0% in 2020 to 8.3 per cent in 2024, and is anticipated to exceed 9 per cent by 2029, he said. A crucial underlying factor is the demographic divergence between India and the G7, said Jain. India's working-age population (15-64 years) is projected to increase in the coming years, with over 68 per cent of its population currently between 15-64 years. This demographic dividend supports labour supply expansion, boosts domestic consumption, and enhances the innovation ecosystem through a vibrant startup culture and rising tertiary education enrolment, said Jain. Further, India's share of the total population ages 65 and above constitutes less than 5 per cent (2025). Conversely, G7 nations are confronting demographic headwinds as their share is more than 10 per cent, highlighting rapidly ageing populations, shrinking labour pools, and rising old-age dependency ratios, said Jain. By 2030, this share is expected to double or more than double for the G7 economies. 'This is likely to slow potential output, reduce consumer demand, and increase fiscal burdens related to pensions and healthcare, said Jain. Notably, India's merchandise trade with G7 countries has surged by 61 per cent, rising from USD 154 billion in FY 2020-21 to USD 248 billion in FY 2024-25, maintaining a steady trade surplus. 'This reflects India's growing export competitiveness, indicated by the commodity net export price index, bolstering its external sector resilience, Jain added. The industry body said in the report that key global initiatives led by India--the International Solar Alliance, Mission LiFE, and the Global Biofuels Alliance--are shaping a greener, more inclusive world. In the technology and digital governance space, India highlighted its commitment to a human-centric and ethical approach to AI, showcasing initiatives like BHASHINI and Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) as global models. The report added that a strategic collaboration in areas including clean and renewable energy, climate finance, Digital Public Infrastructure, Trade & Supply Chain Resilience, Maritime & Indo-Pacific Security and Healthcare & Pharma will drive a mutually beneficial growth trajectory.
