AN ALLEGED hitman nicked over the murders of two Scots gangsters is to fight extradition - as he claimed he was being intimidated by onlookers in court.
Michael Riley, 44, of Huyton, Liverpool, appeared today at Westminster Magistrates Court as part of a bid to have him shipped to Spain.

Eddie Lyons Jnr, left, and Ross Monaghan were shot dead in Spain on May 31
Cops there issued an international arrest warrant in connection with their probe into the May 31 murders of Ross Monaghan, 43, and Eddie Lyons Jnr, 46.
Riley was apprehended by Merseyside police on June 13 under an international arrest warrant issued by the Spanish authorities last week.
Riley was remanded in custody by magistrates on Saturday after he was deemed a flight risk.
He appeared at the London court via videolink from HMP Wandsworth yesterday but due to technical difficulties the hearing could not go ahead effectively.
He appeared in person wearing a grey, prison-issued tracksuit and spoke to confirm his name and date of birth.
Riley was asked today by the court clerk if he wished to give consent to be extradited back to Spain, to which he said: 'No, I do not.'
Riley's extradition hearing will be on October 9 at Westminster Magistrates court and is expected to last all day.
Judge John Bristow said: 'As you know, Mr Riley, your extradition is sought by Spain, you have not consented to your extradition, so there is going to be a hearing on October 9.
'If you don't come to that hearing, it can proceed without you. That would mean you would not get the chance to tell your side of the story.
'You are not applying for bail today, so I am going to remand you in custody.
'Your next appearance will be on July 18, where on that occasion you will be on live television link.'
Riley accused a member of the public in the public gallery of staring at him and making funny faces.
He shouted: 'Stop looking at me' as he was led back to the cells.
We told how the Lyons gang kingpins were drinking in Monaghans bar after watching the Champions League Cup final when they were gunned down.
A hooded assassin was captured on CCTV storming the boozer and shooting both men dead in front of horrified holiday makers and staff.
We told how cops in Spain and Scotland gave conflicting information over who is believed to have ordered the double assassination.
Police Scotland first insisted three days after the slaughter they had 'no intelligence' to suggest the murders were connected to an ongoing turf war here.
However, at a sensational press conference in Malaga their Spain counterparts said the man they want extradited over the killings was 'an internal member of the rival Daniel gang'.
Malaga-based police chief Pedro Agudo Novo told reporters: "The double murder was carried out by a professional killer and member of one of the victims' rival gangs.
"In this case we're not talking about an independently hired killer but an internal member of the rival Daniel gang who ends up assassinating two members of an enemy gang."
That prompted the Scottish force to repeat their insistence there is no Daniel link to the slayings - a position also held by members of Monaghan's family.
A relative of the murdered mob boss said earlier this month: 'The one thing people need to know is the Daniels are not behind this.'
Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Houston said: "We are not aware of any current evidence which suggests the deaths of these two men in Spain are linked to criminal attacks in Scotland being investigated as part of Operation Portaledge.'
We told how a captured mobile phone holds the key to proving the assassinations in Spain of two Scots crime kingpins are linked to their Daniel gang rivals, sources claim.
Cops are understood to have seized the mobile from an alleged hitman suspected of shooting dead the duo.
Insiders say it contains data allegedly linking Riley, 44, to Daniel hoods who Spanish detectives reckon are behind the double slaying.
Career criminal Monaghan – who fled Scotland for Spain after a failed attempt on his life in 2017 – was tried but acquitted over the murder of notorious Glasgow hood Kevin 'Gerbil' Carroll at an Asda car park in 2010.
In August 2017 he and Eddie Lyons Jr, both members of the Lyons Glasgow crime family, were cleared of being involved in a brutal street attack on three men outside the Campsie bar in Bishopbriggs, East Dunbartonshire.
Their deaths come amid an ongoing turf war in Scotland that's resulted in 48 arrests as part of Police Scotland's Operation Portaledge.
The gangland carnage in Edinburgh and Glasgow began in March amid claims Dubai-based hood Ross 'Miami' McGill, 31, of East Kilbride sought revenge after blaming associates of caged capital kingpin Mark Richardson, 38, for using fake notes in a dodgy £500,000 cocaine deal.

Bayesian's interior finally revealed as luxury superyacht turned into chaotic mess after being raised from seabed
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) HAUNTING pictures of the Bayesian superyacht's wrecked interior have been revealed - after it sank off the coast off Sicily last summer. Tech tycoon Mike Lynch, 59, and his daughter Hannah, 18, were among those on board the doomed vessel when it plummeted to the bottom of the Mediterranean. The new photographs reveal the watery grave of the tragic entrepreneur's yacht. A ruined reception area holds soaked furniture scattered across one side of the dilapidated room. Waterlogged armchairs and pillows thrown all over the eerie compartment sit next to ghastly tables which have been soaked under water for the last 10 months. The once sumptuous interior now rotten with grime is a harrowing reminder of the tragic day on August 19 2024 when the ship sank in just 16 minutes after being hit by a violent downburst. The freak accident also took the lives of banker Jonathan Bloomer, 70, and his wife Judy Bloomer, 71, as well as US lawyer Chris Morvillo and his wife Neda Morvillo, and Canadian-Antiguan chef Recaldo Thomas. A further 15 people were rescued following the ship's horror plummet. Last week, chilling pictures showed the Bayesian resurface for the first time in nearly a year as bystanders watched one of Europe's biggest cranes lift the yacht up from 150ft below the water. The Bayesian was then transported about 15 miles along the coast to the port of Termini Imerese. The multimillion-pound vessel was pulled onto a specially made steel cradle at the port. I found doomed Bayesian I saw still haunts me It is currently being examined by investigators, who are trying to work out what caused it to sink so rapidly. Italian builders insisted the ship was virtually unsinkable and suggested the crew may have been at fault. Speculation circulated that someone could have left a hatch open during the storm. But after it was hauled up last week, investigators found every hatch was shut tight. It comes after a bombshell report revealed the astonishing "vulnerability" of Lynch's "unsinkable" Bayesian superyacht which led to its tragic demise. After examining the sinking of the 180ft Bayesian off Sicily last year, investigators now say the ship was knocked over by 'extreme wind' and could not recover. 10 Damaged equipment on board the Bayesian Credit: TG/RAINEWS 10 Superyacht Bayesian being lifted up from the bottom of the sea Credit: AFP 10 The top of the passenger area of the superyacht Bayesian being lifted Credit: Reuters And they confirmed the vessel's critical weakness was that the ship was vulnerable to wind. An interim report by the Marine Accident Investigation Branch said the yacht had a 'vulnerability' to lighter winds but the owner and crew would not have known. It added it had 'limited verified evidence' as the criminal probe in Italy had restricted its access. Italian prosecutors are conducting a criminal investigation into the yacht's sudden sinking. They are probing the ship's skipper New Zealand national James Cutfield, Brit chief engineer Tim Parker Eaton, and deckhand Matthew Griffiths, for potential manslaughter and causing a shipwreck. Inside the Bayesian's final 16 minutes By Ellie Doughty, Foreign News Reporter Data recovered from the Bayesian's Automatic Identification System (AIS) breaks down exactly how it sank in a painful minute-by-minute timeline. At 3.50am on Monday August 19 the Bayesian began to shake "dangerously" during a fierce storm, Italian outlet Corriere revealed. Just minutes later at 3.59am the boat's anchor gave way, with a source saying the data showed there was "no anchor left to hold". After the ferocious weather ripped away the boat's mooring it was dragged some 358 metres through the water. By 4am it had began to take on water and was plunged into a blackout, indicating that the waves had reached its generator or even engine room. At 4.05am the Bayesian fully disappeared underneath the waves. An emergency GPS signal was finally emitted at 4.06am to the coastguard station in Bari, a city nearby, alerting them that the vessel had sunk. Early reports suggested the disaster struck around 5am local time off the coast of Porticello Harbour in Palermo, Sicily. The new data pulled from the boat's AIS appears to suggest it happened an hour earlier at around 4am. Some 15 of the 22 onboard were rescued, 11 of them scrambling onto an inflatable life raft that sprung up on the deck. A smaller nearby boat - named Sir Robert Baden Powell - then helped take those people to shore. The huge £20million recovery undertaking was plagued by delays and more tragedy - after a diver working on the operation died last month. Robcornelis Maria Huijben Uiben, 39, died when working 160ft below the ocean alongside other workers - just days after recovery operations began. This prompted some locals to believe that the sunken ship is "cursed". Floating cranes, remote-controlled robots, and specialist divers amongst other marine experts were brought in to recover the vessel. Billionaire Dr Lynch was celebrating being cleared of a massive fraud over the sale of Autonomy to computer giant Hewlett-Packard in 2011 when the Bayesian went down. 10 Lynch, 59, died as the yacht sank Credit: Reuters 10 Tycoon Mike Lynch's superyacht sank because it was vulnerable to wind, a report claims Credit: EPA 10

Identity of teen thug who murdered mum on tram tracks revealed as knifeman turns 18
One relative described the victim as "my beautiful Danielle" KILLER UNMASKED Identity of teen thug who murdered mum on tram tracks revealed as knifeman turns 18 Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) A TEENAGE murderer who knifed a mum to death after a row over an e-scooter can today be unmasked by The Scottish Sun on Sunday. Ryan Heath was just 16 when he repeatedly plunged a Rambo-style blade into Danielle Davidson, 33. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 3 Danielle Davidson, 33, from Edinburgh, was murdered by teen thug Ryan Heath 3 Danielle Davidson was killed on tram tracks in Edinburgh The maniac — who was a knife offender from the age of 11 — could not be named when he was caged for 18 years last December, because he was still 17 at the time. But the monster's face can finally be shown two years after the horror attack on tram lines in Edinburgh's Leith. And we can also reveal that Heath's deceased mother was a friend of mum-of-one Danielle. Just eight days before the senseless slaying, Heath had been put on a supervision order by the Children's Reporter for repeated thuggish behaviour. The balaclava-clad fiend argued with Danielle's pal Conlan Carr over the scooter before turning and knifing her. He stabbed her four times, inflicting blows to her head and body in the broad daylight horror in May 2023. The fatal wound went through Danielle's back, piercing her lung. She was rushed to hospital but could not be saved. Heath initially claimed self defence but pleaded guilty to murder after harrowing CCTV of the killing was played to the High Court in Edinburgh. Prosecutor John McElroy KC said at last November's hearing: 'She shouted, 'I have been stabbed,' before collapsing on the tram track.' The footage also showed Heath entering a women's toilet in Tesco to change his clothes after the attack. Heartbreaking Old Firm march Grieving parents call for knife crime action in Scotland He later told his aunt and uncle: 'I have done the crime, so I will do the time.' It emerged in court that he was charged with knife possession at 11 and had also been involved in drug dealing from the age of 13 as a 'victim of modern slavery'. Last night Tory shadow justice secretary Liam Kerr said: "The killer already had a lengthy rap sheet for drugs and thuggery. "He wore a balaclava, carried a cruel blade and stabbed his victim several times. "The public needed protection from Heath, unmasked. "People will rightly question whether the reasons that teenagers are granted anonymity in court apply in this harrowing case." Heath's lawyer Iain McSporran KC told the court: 'She was an entirely innocent victim in this dreadful crime.' Jailing him at the High Court in Glasgow last December, Judge Lord Arthurson said: 'This was an appalling and cowardly attack on a vulnerable and defenceless young mother. 'She was in the wrong place at the wrong time while you were intoxicated by drugs and armed with a large, lethal bladed weapon.' We told in March how the 18-year sentence imposed by Lord Arthurson was reduced to 14 years on appeal. Lawyers for Heath successfully argued that the punishment breached guidelines to encourage more lenient sentences for the under-25s. Judges at the Court of Criminal Appeal agreed — despite calling the offence 'shocking'. Lord Matthews ruled: 'The sentence was more akin to that which might have been imposed on an adult offender.' After her death, Danielle's cousin John Davidson posted on social media: ' My beautiful Danielle. I am broken.'

Scots parents' fury after school staff left girl, 11, in toilet for six hours on hottest day
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) A FURIOUS couple have slammed a school where their daughter was left for six hours in a toilet cubicle on the year's hottest day. Philip Marshall, 40, and wife Gemma, 38, claim their 11-year-old child, who has autism, was put at risk by the ordeal. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 3 Philip and Gemma Marshall's daughter was left in a school toilet for six hours 3 Oakbank Primary School in Perth 3 Some toilet cubicles They told how she arrived home distressed and dehydrated after staff at Oakbank Primary, Perth, failed to notice she was in the building. Dad Philip said last night: 'It was disgraceful — a complete breach of their duty of care for our daughter.' He told how the mix-up began after a chaperone accompanied the pupil in a taxi from the family home in Abernethy, Perthshire, to the school, which has a unit for children with special needs. Philip explained: 'When the chaperone dropped her off and handed her over to the school staff, they failed to acknowledge she was there. They let her through two security doors.' But instead of being taken to her classroom, the girl was allowed to stray and was able to hide inside a toilet without anyone noticing. The vulnerable youngster then spent the rest of the school day by herself without any fluids — on a day when temperatures in Perth hit 24°C (75°F) by noon. Her parents claim the blunder was only noticed after the same person arrived to pick her up. Philip, a joiner, continued: 'My child was left unsupervised for six hours, right through the day. 'When the chaperone arrived at 3pm to collect her, the school didn't even know she was there.' There was then a 'frantic' search of the building by teachers and others before the girl was found in a loo. And she was 'in a state' when she arrived home, her dad recalled. He said: 'My daughter was sweating, anxious and confused. Had there been a fire or an emergency, she wouldn't have gotten out of the school because of the security doors. Christine McGuinness addresses autism struggle as she exits Celeb MasterChef 'Or had she left the school, nobody would have really known who she'd have been with.' The scare came on June 20, Scotland's hottest day of the year so far. Gemma, a carer, had been in touch with staff a day earlier because her girl had been off school then. And the pair say they were told by the school this led to confusion — with it being assumed she'd not be in. Philip added: 'If a pupil is off, their absence line should be phoned. 'And if anyone doesn't turn up in class, the staff should contact the parents via email or phone. But they failed to do either of those. They were negligent in failing to register our child.' Last night a spokesman for Perth and Kinross Council said it could not comment on individual circumstances, but said 'any situation which adversely impacts on the safety and wellbeing' of children is of 'significant concern'. They said 'such circumstances' would be investigated and they would work with parents or carers 'to understand why any incident occurred and to take meaningful steps towards resolution to prevent any recurrence'.
