PSD Approves Nine Positions To Smooth Administration At OAOSC Bawong
SUNGAI SIPUT, April 24 (Bernama) -- The Public Service Department (PSD) has approved nine new positions - including roles for assistant administrative officers and assistant engineers - to support efficient governance and operations at the Orang Asli One Stop Centre (OAOSC) in Bawong.
PSD director-general Tan Sri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz said the operations of the OAOSC in Bawong have had a significant impact on empowering the local population by providing administrative infrastructure, essential facilities, and promoting holistic socio-economic development, particularly for the Orang Asli community.
'As a pilot project, the OAOSC, which began operations in 2022 with a total development cost of RM166.4 million, is equipped with various facilities, including a library, multipurpose hall, automated teller machine (ATM), and bus services,' he said.

Labuan-KK express ferry draws strong response after three-year hiatus

To date, more than 3,700 commuters have used the direct sea route, with each trip operating at full capacity of over 100 passengers. The revival of the service, linking the duty-free island to Sabah's capital, has been hailed by federal authorities as a much-needed boost to regional connectivity. Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa described the ferry's return as a key development for Labuan's socio-economic growth. 'This express ferry is not just a transportation service — it is a vital connector for regional economic, social and development networks,' she said. Speaking to reporters at the Labuan International Ferry Terminal after welcoming passengers from Kota Kinabalu on Sunday, Dr Zaliha said the service facilitates community mobility, daily activities, and the transport of goods within local supply chains. She expressed satisfaction with the strong public reception, noting that the ferry is popular among a wide range of travellers commuting between the two cities. 'This route offers a more convenient and time-saving alternative to the roll-on/roll-off (Ro-Ro) ferry via Menumbok, especially for passengers without vehicles,' she said. While the Ro-Ro ferry is generally preferred for travel to nearby districts such as Menumbok, Kuala Penyu, or Beaufort, the express ferry provides a direct, faster option to Kota Kinabalu. Dr Zaliha also expressed hope that the operator would continue to enhance the service, including shortening travel time, to meet the growing demand.-Bernama

MALAYSIA SEEKS WIN-WIN SOLUTION WITH INDONESIA ON AMBALAT ISSUE
AM TANGKAK, June 29 (Bernama) -- Malaysia will work towards achieving a 'win-win' solution with Indonesia on the maritime boundary issue in Ambalat, said Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan. He said this could be achieved through the formation of a joint development authority to spur economic growth and address technical issues in the area. 'Why don't we jointly explore the mineral resources there so that both countries can benefit from them? 'In addition, we will continue talks and negotiations on the border. So we don't want a 'lose-lose' situation (between the two countries),' he told reporters after officiating the Ledang UMNO Division Delegates' Meeting at Dewan Putra Padang Lerek here today. Last Friday, the media reported that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto had expressed the strong commitment of both countries to accelerate strategic cooperation in various fields, including joint development in the maritime border area of Malaysia and Indonesia in Ambalat in a peaceful and mutually beneficial manner. Anwar, at a joint press conference following a bilateral meeting at Istana Merdeka in Jakarta, said both countries should consider economic cooperation, including in the maritime border area, for the benefit of the people. Meanwhile, Mohamad said he would be visiting Rome and Paris starting tomorrow to meet with his counterparts ahead of Anwar's participation in the BRICS Summit next month. He said discussions with his counterparts would cover several issues, including the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Palestine, and the conflict involving Iran and the Zionist regime. 'That has always been part of our discussions, namely (the conflict) in Gaza and now in Iran… that will be the main issue,' he said.
