Guidance to students on financial aid at grievance redressal meet held in Madurai

A special grievance redressal camp for students was conducted under the Naan Mudhalvan – Kalloori Kanavu scheme at the District Collector office here on Thursday.
The camp aimed to support students with financial aid, academic guidance, and admission-related queries for their higher education.
During the meeting, students seeking financial support were assessed for eligibility under available government aid and scholarships. Students who were deemed ineligible for such options were guided to apply for bank loans through https://www.vidyalakshmi.co.in/Students/ portal.
Collector M.S. Sangeetha also instructed the bank officials present at the camp to collect academic and contact details for follow-up.
Counselling was offered to students preparing for supplementary examinations.
Ms. Sangeetha advised students not to lose hope and motivated them to work hard and succeed in the upcoming exams.
Students were asked to contact the helpdesk at 0452-2522995 or reach out via call or WhatsApp at 72006 47475 for immediate resolution of higher education-related queries.
As a dedicated higher education guidance control room had been established at the education department office at Tallakulam, students seeking in-person guidance were told to visit the office. The guidance control room would operate from June 5 to October 31 on all working days between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Additionally, assistance was provided to students regarding college admissions.
Officials from the Government Industrial Training Institute offered guidance tailored to the individual interests.
Interestingly, a 35-year-old woman aspiring to join a beautician course received support from officials of the Government ITI (Women).
The Government ITI (Women), Madurai, announced the commencement of admissions for the 2025 academic year and there would be no training fee for the courses and no age limit for applying to the courses.
Some of the perks of securing admission in the ITI would be that the selected candidates would be provided with free accommodation and meals, a cumulative stipend of ₹1,750, free uniforms, bicycles, textbooks, and bus travel, along with course completion certificates.
As immediate employment opportunities were assured upon course completion, candidates were urged to submit their applications through www.skilltraining.tn.gov.in or in person at the institute, the officials added.
The eligibility for applying was completion of class VII or X and candidates could opt for a variety of courses such as electronics, mechanics, medical electronics technician, computer operator and programming assistant, desk-top publishing operator, sewing technology and cosmetology.

The soon to be set up control rooms will function out of the Integrated School Education Block Resource Centre in each block and designated coordinators for each block have been assigned. Free PSC coaching programme launched in Coimbatore

COIMBATORE: A free coaching programme for the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission examinations commenced at the community hall at Ukkadam Periyakulam on Wednesday. It was inaugurated on Wednesday by the Coimbatore District Collector Pavankumar G Giriyappanavar in the presence of Coimbatore MP Dr Ganapathi P Rajkumar, Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation (CCMC) Commissioner M Sivaguru Prabakaran and CCMC Mayor Ranganayaki. The CCMC launched the programme in collaboration with the district administration. Speaking at the event, the district collector highlighted the efforts of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister in promoting youth development through schemes such as Puthumai Penn, Thamizh Pudhalvan, and Naan Mudhalvan. He said the newly launched free coaching programme reflects the same commitment to empowering youth and job aspirants. The programme will provide structured coaching for TNPSC Group 2 and Group 4 exams, guided by expert faculty. It will include access to updated study materials, well-designed classes, and mentorship sessions. Classes will be held full day at the community hall. COIMBATORE: As part of the govt's Kalloori Kanavu scheme to reduce dropout rates, additional collector (development) Sanket Balwant Waghe counselled and convinced a teenager employed at an automobile workshop about the need for continuing his education and got him admitted to a private college. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Salman Farees, 16, had recently passed his Class XII exams from the Government Higher Secondary School, Kuniamuthur. He had been working at an automobile workshop in Karumbukadai to support the family's financial needs. His friend Irfan had secured admission to the BA English literature programme at Nehru College of Arts and Science, Thirumalayampalayam. Salman had lost motivation and interest in continuing his studies, weighed down by personal challenges. Despite repeated efforts by Irfan and his schoolteachers, Salman remained hesitant to enrol for college education. On Tuesday, the additional collector and school teachers arrived at the automobile workshop. They engaged in conversation with Salman, encouraging him to rediscover his aspirations. After nearly 30 minutes of counselling, Salman's outlook shifted, and he expressed his wish to study and to join his friend Irfan in college. The additional collector accompanied Salman to Nehru College, facilitated his admission into the BA English literature course and ensured that every procedural limitation was cleared on the spot.
