By the end of 2025, China aims to achieve major progress in building a Digital China, with the continuous expansion of new quality productive forces in the digital industry, as well as significant improvements in the quality and efficiency of digital economic development, according to the plan.
The plan also aims for the added value of core digital economy industries to contribute over 10 percent of the country's gross domestic product, and sets goals for steady progress in building a unified data factor market, and for computing power to be increased to over 300 EFLOPS.
It outlines eight major areas for action, including institutional innovation, local brand development and "AI Plus" application.

Trump signs tax and spending bill into law

Ammon News - U.S. President Donald Trump signed into law a massive package of tax and spending cuts at the White House on Friday, staging an outdoor ceremony on the Fourth of July holiday that took on the air of a Trump political rally. With military jets flying overhead and hundreds of supporters in attendance, Trump signed the bill one day after the Republican-controlled House of Representatives narrowly approved the signature legislation of the president's second term. The bill, which will fund Trump's immigration crackdown, make his 2017 tax cuts permanent, and is expected to knock millions of Americans off health insurance, was passed with a 218-214 vote after an emotional debate on the House floor. "I've never seen people so happy in our country because of that, because so many different groups of people are being taken care of: the military, civilians of all types, jobs of all types," Trump said at the ceremony, thanking House Speaker Mike Johnson and Senate Majority Leader John Thune for leading the bill through the two houses of Congress. "So you have the biggest tax cut, the biggest spending cut, the largest border security investment in American history," Trump said. After a speech that included boastful claims about the ascendance of America on his watch, Trump signed the bill. The bill's passage amounts to a big win for Trump and his Republican allies, who have argued it will boost economic growth, while largely dismissing a nonpartisan analysis predicting it will add more than $3 trillion to the nation's $36.2 trillion debt. Microsoft is laying off as many as 9,000 employees

Ammon News - Microsoft confirmed that it's laying off as many as 9,100 employees, or about 4 percent of its workforce, in yet another round of cuts this year, reports The Seattle Times. Employees in Microsoft's Xbox division, known as Microsoft Gaming, are being hit hard by these layoffs, although exact numbers and divisions are not yet known. Xbox leader Phil Spencer said in a message to the team, 'To position Gaming for enduring success and allow us to focus on strategic growth areas, we will end or decrease work in certain areas of the business and follow Microsoft's lead in removing layers of management to increase agility and effectiveness.' Bloomberg reports that the now Microsoft-owned King division that makes Candy Crush is cutting about 10 percent of employees, or 200 people, while other units, like ZeniMax, have also confirmed they are cutting jobs. Microsoft is also laying off more than 70 people at its Forza Motorsport studio, Turn 10, as well as cancelling its Perfect Dark and Everwild games. The studio behind Perfect Dark, The Initiative, is also closing down as part of these layoffs. These major layoffs come less than two months after Microsoft announced it was cutting more than 6,000 employees, followed by an additional 305 reductions in early June. Microsoft employees have faced a series of layoffs over the past year, including a round of performance-based cuts that have seriously hit morale, according to multiple Microsoft employees I've spoken to. 83,000 trucks cross from Jordan into Syria, JCC says

Ammon News - Chairman of Jordan Chamber of Commerce (JCC), Khalil Haj Tawfiq, said on Thursday that approximately 83,000 trucks have crossed from Jordan into Syria since the fall of al-Assad regime on December 8, 2024, in addition to 16,800 cement trucks. During his meeting with the governors of Damascus and Rural Damascus, Haj Tawfiq noted that a new page of economic relations with Syria is opening, based on partnership and joint development. Haj Tawfiq added, according to Al-Mamlaka, that he hopes the Syrian-Turkish agreement on transit and crossings will include the Jordanian crossings as a trade corridor. The Jordanian-Syrian Economic Forum and the Digital Forum will be held at the end of July, he pointed out. Damascus Governor Maher Marwan praised Jordan's role in hosting Syrian refugees during the conflict, which has lasted for more than 14 years. Marwan said that Syria is ready to cooperate and facilitate trade relations with Jordan in coordination with the Damascus Governorate.
