Friends star's cult comedy gets surprise revival 20 years after debut
Friends star Lisa Kudrow will return to one of her most beloved roles - but it's not Phoebe Buffay.
Best known for her 10-year stint on the beloved NBC sitcom as well as recent roles in Time Bandits and Netflix 's No Good Deed, Kudrow is reprising one of her first projects after Friends' conclusion in 2004.
HBO has officially confirmed their hit comedy series The Comeback will return for a third and final season.
In this sharp satirical look at the glitzy world of showbiz, Kudrow portrays Valerie Cherish, a B-list television actress who briefly found fame with her sitcom I'm It! in the late 80s and early 90s.
The Comeback originally aired in 2005 with its first season following Valerie after she's cast in a new network sitcom called Room and Bored and agrees to record her return to acting in a companion documentary series.
Almost 10 years later, a second season aired in 2014 and featured Valerie's career taking a darker turn.
This time, she's cast as a fictionalised version of herself in Seeing Red, an HBO drama about the abuse she suffered from Room and Bored's producer Paulie G (Lance Barber).
Seth Rogen portrays himself in the series as he's cast as Mitch in Seeing Red, the character based on Paulie, and often comes to Valerie's aid when the real Paulie shows his true colours.
A teaser trailer was released by HBO featuring Kudrow in character as Valerie confirming she's returning for a new show, but maintains this will be 'the last time'.
Created by Michael Patrick King, writer of Sex and the City and the creator of its sequel series And Just Like That…, The Comeback's final season will head into production this summer for a 2026 release date on HBO and HBO Max.

Executive Vice President of HBO & Max Comedy Programming, Amy Gravitt said in a statement: 'No matter what the industry throws at her, Valerie Cherish is a survivor.
'On the 20th Anniversary of her debut, Michael Patrick King and Lisa Kudrow have brilliantly scripted her return to HBO and we can't wait to see that.'
And Kudrow and King added: 'Valerie Cherish has found her way back to the current television landscape. Neither of us are surprised she did.'
The Comeback season 3 will premiere in 2026 on HBO and HBO Max.

Man duped by 'Jennifer Aniston' in 'deepfake' romance scam
Paul Davies from Southampton believed he was chatting to the Friends star. A devastated Friends superfan claims he was brutally scammed out of £200 by a fraudster posing as Jennifer Aniston. Paul Davies from Southampton believed he was chatting to the Rachel Green star on social media, before ' Jennifer ' asked him to hand over the cash so she could pay for her "Apple subscriptions" reports the Mirror. Paul claims he was bombarded with scarily realistic AI-generated videos and messages from supposed Hollywood stars, including fake clips of Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk. The 43-year-old said ' Jen ' sent him her driving license as proof of her identity and he fell for it, not least because she told him she 'loved him'. Speaking to The Sun, he said: 'I've had fake videos from Jennifer Aniston saying she loves me and asking for £200. I believed it – and I paid.' Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! The cruel scam saw him send £200 worth of non-refundable Apple gift cards to the alleged American sweetheart as Paul admitted: 'I got bitten. 'Once bitten, twice shy.' During their conversation on social media, ' Jennifer ' sent various sweet messages to Paul while also warning him not to contact Facebook because "you don't want problems". The twisted con is part of a worrying wave of deepfake, AI generated videos, which often forge someone's face, voice or entire likeness. Paul says he's been hounded by droves of deepfake videos, often claiming he's won a huge prize, endorsed by a fake celebrity. One video even showed a fake Zuckerberg declaring: 'This is not a scam - believe me' while flashing a phoney ID. 'They make it look so real,' Paul said. "It's been going on for five months. I thought someone would get in trouble for this, but they seem to be having a laugh – and getting away with it.' Paul, who admits his mental health has been affected by the scam, said he's sharing his story to protect others. It comes as another unsuspecting Facebook user was duped by a scammer pretending to be Brad Pitt. The con artist swindled a French woman out of nearly £700,000 by pretending to be the Fight Club star, despite actually living in Nigeria and never stepping foot in front of a camera. Interior designer Anne, 53, was tricked into funding a bogus cancer treatment for the so-called superstar after being sent AI-generated selfies and love messages. The sham romance dragged on for over a year, costing Anne her life savings, her marriage, and her mental health. Eventually a crack team discovered the scammer's identity, his Nigerian home, along with, sadly, 34 other victims.

Olivia Munn says male director tried to 'ruin' her chances to get future roles after HBO dispute
Olivia Munn is opening up about a harsh experience on the set of HBO 's The Newsroom with a director who tried to hinder her from getting future roles. The 44-year-old actress was first best known as a correspondent on the popular G4 series Attack of the Show, before breaking through as an actress as Sloan Sabbith on The Newsroom. She opened up about an unnamed director on The Newsroom during a wide-ranging chat with Dax Shepard on his Armchair Expert podcast. The actress - who recently made headlines for comments about Jeff Bezos' ex Mackenzie Scott - realized this director wanted to put his 'imprint' on her Sloan Sabbith character, which involved a romantic relationship with Thomas Sadoski's Don Keefer. 'There was a storyline where my character and Tom Sadoski's character are dating and falling in love,' she said. However, the director, 'kept trying to force me to carry that storyline only on my side. He's like, "Can you look out at him and smile?" And I'm like, "Why she's busy doing this?" She added that he would suggest, '"Can you stop and snuggle up to him or flirt with him?" Or, "Can you give him a kiss?" And I'm like, "This is in the middle of working."' There was another scene where she finds out that Keefer engaged in some 'insider trading with information I got him,' and while her reaction for the character was naturally one of outrage, the director thought otherwise. 'They were like "I don't think that you're that angry with him it's kind of funny." I just fought back so much and then it got to this place where there was one scene and I was like "No I'm not,"' she admitted. 'And he goes he said "Look it's my job as a director to see all the different colors of the rainbow." And you are looking at only one color and I don't think you realize how you're coming off and I said "How am I coming off?" and he said really forceful and strong and I said, "Great, that's what I wanted," and walked away,' she said. Munn added that some time after that incident, she was, 'on the one-yard line for a movie,' and she found out that this director had spoken out against her. 'My manager calls me and says, "Hey, you're gonna get the role. But first, I guess there's another director who they know and he says that on The Newsroom you were late all the time and really combative,' she said. 'I lived seven minutes from there. I was never late. I was like, "I know who this is." He just was trying to bash me. And I told my reps, "Please tell the directors this,"' Munn said. She added, 'And then I still got the role. But I will always remember that just because of our conflicts of how we approached a role, he wanted to ruin my chances of getting anything else.' Munn also opened up about one of her exes, NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers, during the podcast, revealing she didn't watch the new Netflix documentary about him. She also opened up about rumors that she started the rift with his family, which he recently debunked. 'There's this whole big narrative that stayed with me for so many years, but there was just this dynamic in the family that had nothing to do with me. It became this whole big thing, and people were like, "I can't with her, she's keeping this family apart."' 'People have speculated for many years what was the rift, and I know, but I'm not saying because it's not my story to tell,' Olivia revealed.

Both embracing their natural beauty the actresses went makeup free for the casual meet up as they appeared to be in their kitchen making a drink. You'll never feel scolded. She's extremely fair, ridiculously loyal and fiercely loving,' Jennifer gushed a decade ago. 'I've slept in her guest bedroom a lot. Without giving away too much of my private stuff, all I can say is she's been there for me through thick and thin,' she told More. Meanwhile last year Jennifer paid tribute to Courteney as she celebrated her 60th birthday. Jennifer raved of her 'magical' and 'ferociously talented' friend as she penned: 'Celebrating this powerful, magical, mystical, interesting, interested, ferociously talented girl today!!! 'My sweet CC @courteneycoxofficial… she's funny like no other, STUNNING on the inside and out. Independent in the most gorgeous way, cares for everyone even if she doesn't know you.' Also don't know why I call her that…but I sure do love you.' Back in April the pair reunited for a cosy dinner with Courteney's boyfriend Johnny McDaid as the actress shared a sweet photo dump. The Scream star glowed as she posed for a selfie at the dinner table with her boyfriend and pal. Jennifer, who donned a brown top and gold hoop earrings, looked incredible as she nestled into Courteney's beau for the snap. Elsewhere in the photo dump, Courteney posted a hilarious snap of a turkey hat on her head, recreating the iconic moment when her character Monica in Friends did the same thing.
